I tend to agree, but to be perfectly honest... several of those are already done by darkfall online (and probably older inspirational games) already. So what have we?

Yes several of those have already been done by some, but they are not worn-out concepts - unlike those in TESO - just forgotten. That is the point.

They announced it less than a week ago, come back with that comment after 6+ months of this so called " non desire to communicate with fans" .

Now it is most likely late. If you want to know how it's done properly take a look at Wasteland 2.

True, and GW2 is a refreshing game because of it.

Alot of those ideas are in TESO though, as many people are actually starting to call it a "GW2 clone"

Yeah, but GW2 did add something truly original. Dynamic events for instance. We'll see how TES:O fares.

Let's hope TESO will bring something innovative and special that'll make it stand out among other MMOs, albeit what we've seen so far does not promise much. TES is, after all, my favorite IP in gaming.

TESO might not be what many fans expected from an online TES but for what it is, to me, it promises juts as much as Gw2, but in an IP i like much much more.

ESO also seems to have hubless quest design, with just stuff laying around.

There are people who are gonna complain no matter what facts you refute them with. Better to just start ignoring them. Most of the naysayers have changed their tune quite a bit since the last two dev interviews. I'm not saying they are all convinced, but most of them are at least a bit open minded now.

haters going to hate, and secondly I come from a big FPS background and I also follow the TES series. In all the other FPS forums people complain about COD and say just because you include the ACR in BF3 that you are ripping off of COD. The same goes for the MMO scene, everything seems to magically copy WOW. Don't judge a game that has just been announced this week lol :P

Perhaps it should not have been announced until they had all their ill-fated ducks in a row. Good way to lose potential customers right from the starting gate. As it stands right now I won't buy into it.

It's not Todd's fault they are making an MMO, it's not his decision. He is just trying to prevent a nuclear meltdown caused by it's eventual release.

the thing is, i absolutely never imagined, or ever wanted, a "WoW game" with TES skins and lores. just the thought make me want to gag. TES has a very distinct feel to it, a very immersive feel derived by the first person view/combat, outstanding graphics, rich lore, voiced quests, huge mostly seamless open ended map, and the freedom to play as you wish and shape your character as you go.
Except it doesn't look like TES at all, lol.
And it's still needs to be seen how lore friendly ZO is.

The sad thing is that alot of us can't afford to buy a new pc just to play this game and the devs of this new game are going after the richer players (or people that just want to play this will buy a new pc/mac). It is a shame that they shunning the console players.
Stop being a console player then (sell your XboX, XboX games, old laptop and buy a new one).
Consoles are not for serious games anyway and are just holding real games back (Oblivion and Skyrim, for example).

Yeah right.

*takes a deep breath*

Dynamic events & meta-events--Public Quest nothing new or Bold
Fully active combat-Tab Targeting like tradition MMO as well,no where near as good as Tera combat(don't like the rest of Tera but the combat beats GW2)
Underwater combat- Nothing New or Bold
The holy trinity dead- Some like it some don't,time will tell with that one.
The sidekick system- EQ2 and a number of MMO have these systems, nothing bold or new at all.
No exponential leveling curve
No monthly fee- BTP is always good but they had this in GW so not new or bold just good for customers.
Fragmented skillbar & weapon swapping- Hmm,need tuning before release but again the class is out on this,i played a thief and found flaws.
The downed state- Hmm, easy mode to be honest but yup ill give them that.
Active AoE targeting-Rift
No kill stealing-Hardly bold.
Cross-profession combos- Wait, doesn't TESO also have this.
Jumping, sliding, climbing, swimming- Not new and not bold, sorry but these things have been in MMO forever.
and so on- and so on? meaning their is nothing else, right?

Now that's a project that brings nothing new to the MMO concept

So again, where is all the new and bold stuff that ArenaNet are doing,oh,and by the way i'm a fan of GW2 and have been to GamesCom two years running just to play the game but i ain't got goggles on.

... And do tell me, what has TESO brought to the table? You can block with *any* weapon?

Ill wait here while you write this list of new and bold features of GW2. :snoring:

Sorry you feel that way. I love what Zeni is doing and I truly believe TESO will be amazing.

Kudos to you, sir. I don't agree with anything you've posted into every thread so far, but kudos regardless. You've managed to almost weasel into the 1st, 2nd or 3rd post in every thread and over use the word 'amazing'. Without fail.

Though, you're only the 2nd person I've seen on this forum to actually seem genuinely excited about this game.

Personally, I feel it's going to svck balls if no changes are made.

EDIT: (Spelling errors)

There is no kill stealing in TESO. If I am attacking a monster and you walk by and help kill it, we both get full exp, loot, and quest credit if it is a part of it.

Dear Sheek-Ki,

Like I replied to Syv, yes, several of those have already been done by some, but they are not worn-out features just forgotten. There is a big difference.

Eno

I get it. You can claim that these things are new and bold when it supports your case, but if someone points out that these features are also in TES:O (or have already been in a ton of other MMOs), then you get to fall back on the non-point that they've been "forgotten" by the community. Of course, if they were truly forgotten, no one would remember them.
