Sims 3: Werewolves

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 9:44 pm

Sims 2 always had the better vampires. Hell, we even had coffins. I never played Sims 3 for long, but I heard vampires svck(No pun, dammit).
Sims 2 vampires act too stereotypical, like Dracula. TS3 vampires are more general, just undead creatures of the night without all the forced clichés.

Although I do think they are way too resistant to sunlight in TS3.

Yeah, the closest you can get to killing TS3 vamps with sunlight is setting things up so that they pass out and starve to death while basking in the sun. At least TS2 vamps burned to cinder when they stayed out too long.

Also, TS3 vamps can die of old age, which is just weird.

Eh, they don't die when exposed to sunlight. They age slower than humans, but are not ageless like in Sims 2. You have to use plasma and ask permittion to feed on a sim. There are no coffins. And among other things. Sims 3 modernized vampires while Sims 2 stayed true to some of the roots.

I tried to resist, but I can't. I took the bait, so I must say something.

Twilight has shapeshifters. Say it slowly. Shape...shift...ers. Got it? Good boy. There are no "werewolves" in Twilight. Just a tribe of indians who go angry when there is a vampire nearby or something. Werewolves, I believe, are mentioned in the books. And why does everything have to be about Twilight? It's a horrible series, a perversion of ancient folklore and legend. Why not say "Blade" or "Dracula" or "The wolfman"? They have been around long before this Twilight nonsense.
Thank you for clearing that up about Twilight, I hate when people say werewolves when they are shapeshifters because there are werewolves in that universe. And yes the Sims 3 vampires are worse in my opinion because they do age which is dumb, and they have to ask for permission to be changed or to drink from someone, I mean come on vampires are suppose to be all powerful they should be able to maul someone for their "plasma". Even though Sims 2 vampires are immortal, technically so are all the other sims if you are not playing them, but I wish they kept the normal coffins, immortality, and that they can only go out at night because even though they can go out in sunlight it isn't for very long and it is a nuisance to constantly have to go back inside plus your needs drop all the time, in Sims 2 at night they never dropped which was cool. They did add cool things though for them such as learning skills faster, running faster, brighter glowing version of their original eyes, and mind reading.

I have to admit that I've never seen it, but from what I have seen there are people transforming into wolves. Easy mistake to make.

Considering werewolves were the only somewhat bearable thing in Twilight, yes.

Yes Werewolfes, but EA should stay true to the myth and give them wings.

Okay I made this thread to talk about Sims 3 werewolves not Twilight. This what I hate about society now every time someone says vampire or werewolf people think of Twilight, it is never going to go away if people keep bringing it up in topics like this. I am not hating on it, it just gets annoying when people constantly bring it up when it is unnecessary.

Yeah, sorry for accidentally starting all of that.

Okay, so back to The Sims 3: I dislaike how they changed Vampires in The Sims 3 to be Less like The Sims 2 Vampires, which were closer to the classic depiction, and more like the modern vampires, which are closer to... Twilight...

Can't escape... Twilight... :ahhh:

But this was about Werewolves... Well, as has been said, I think that there is the opportunity to add werewolves in a Seasons-esque expansions, possibly having something to do with a new "Phases of the moon" mechanic. That is, if they ever get around to making a Seasons-type expansion.

Thank you for getting back on topic I hate being that guy that states it isn't on topic. But in this case Twilight is okay since you relate it how the new vampires are like them because they kind of are. I like the idea of a "Phase of the moon" mechanic, maybe make it so that werewolf sims change every 2-3 days.

Is it just me or do the lifestates in The SIms 3 have less unique stuff about them? It mostly seems like they're normal Sims, but with different skin or hair colors, and a useless power or two.

What's so useful about being a Ghost? They still age, they still need to eat and sleep and do other Sims things. The only useful things about them is that they look cool and cannot die (Or re-die) by any other means besides old age.

Mummies are just plain useless. Other than the uniqueness factor of having a mummy in the household, there's really no reason to have them.

Simbots are pretty much just Servos form The Sims 2, but with less interesting features such as being able to be powered down when not in use, which I always found useful.

Vampires are better in that they actually have powers other than "make skin gray and eyes glowy". Vampires learn skills at faster rates at night (nearly to the point of being a Game Breaker) and they can can run faster than normal, along with aging slower. They also having a few amusing interactions such as being able to hunt Sims and raid the grocery store for Plasma Fruit. The SIms 2 vampires were still more interesting in my opinion, though.

The Imaginary Friend has absolutely nothing special or different about it other than having unique clothes and odd hair and eye colors. The whole "Changing into toy form" thing is just pointless, unless you like watching a big doll run around. Plus they can't be turned into Vampires, which would have been amusing.

Unicorns are not really life states. Moving on.

I don't have Showtime, so I can't comment on the Genies.

I never had the chance to try out any of the Sims 3. I can't justify buying any after all the money I sunk into the Sims 2. Maybe I'll buy the series when it gets cheaper.

Werewolves were cool in Sims 2. I got to attack the burglar sim and you can howl at people which would make them relieve themselves sometimes. I got one of those MegaHood towns filled with all the special creatures.

Anyone else spend more time building lots than playing families?

Overall I'd have to say that I liked The Sims 2 better than The Sims 3. Seems more like a labor of love than a cash grab.

Or this could be nostalgia talking.

I've played all three Sims games. I could possibly go back to the first one for nostalgia, but I won't go back to TS2.

Even if they changed a few things in a bad way, the open neighborhood in TS3 is just too much to give up.

I haven't been able to play TS2 in a few years as someone lost and/or scratched up half of my discs all to hell (Can't let anyone borrow anything *Grumbles*).

The open world is a good feature and I like it, however, with it you can really only have one household that you control per save. Other wise you have to constantly switch back and forth, and even then one of them may do something that you didn't want them to. Thankfully there's Awesome Mod, which helps out a lot in that department.

I've read on a few Sims fan sites that the next big expansion for The Sims 3 will be a supernatural-themed one, in which werewolves (and aliens, among other things) will be returning. Although it's not been officially confirmed by EA yet, some savvy Sims modders had uncovered some spoilers in regards to this from some code in a recent patch for Showtime...

Thank you for posting that first link that is my favorite song in Sims 2! Sims 2 did have better music, except for Double Vision in Sims 3.

I really hope this is true, I want werewolves back really bad, I only hope they change the appearance of them a little so they do not look like hairy people.

My point still stands in that the TS3 vampires a lot closer to the modern depiction of vampires instead of TS2's classical depiction.

Ah. I never really played TS1 much. By the time I started playing TS1 TS2 was already about to be released. I had assumed that it belonged to Seasons as it does fit in withhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQz6EQXvfls.

But like I said, I still do love a good piano piece.
