Are you [censored]?

There is no [censored] random quest generator.

All quests are handcrafted, they conditions just change due to the RADIANT STORY.

Please, stop ruining these forums.

Raging about random things that pops up in your head is best kept to your offline blog less you want to make yourself look like a complete idiot.

the entire forests and wilderness of oblivion were created procedurally. the weapons of borderlands were created procedurally. this won't change anything and as proven by many games in the best can be done well.

also for, the record: "single player MMO" is an oxy-moron. you can't be both

edit: quote from the article

"In addition to these minor tasks, Howard says you’ll be able to do extra work for each of the game’s factions, like the Dark Brotherhood and the Thieves Guild. Once you complete the scripted quest lines for each group, you can go to their respective hubs and pick up randomly generated missions to steal gems or assassinate shopkeepers across Skyrim’s massive world."

that is going to be amazing. finally real things to do after you complete the factions!

Rationalisation aside there is a very simple GOOD reason for this:

Character walks into town - he wants to make some gold on the side but doesn't want to embark on any significant quests or chains. Solution: Take a quick job from the lumber mill to collect a bunch've wood, or something repeatable.

I can't beleive this. Todd said in an interview this game has a random quest generator! OMG.. All hype went right out the window. Are u serious? In 2011 u added random quests to keep the player playing LOLOL wow. Just play warcraft..why play this? I'm mad now. Sometimes I hate having a video game hobby. Now I'm hoping the game bombs and other companies don't make this mistake.
Random, nonsensical rant taken totally out of context and out of the blue. Awesome *gets popcorn* :celebration:

I get what the OP is saying. He just didn't say it that well. :)

I'm a little apprehensive on Radiant Story as well. Hopefully the generated quests are varied and creative enough that you wouldn't necessarily be able to tell that they are not scripted. What I'm afraid of though, is that they will just be endless variations of "Go to [dungeon] and slay [creatures] and bring me back [item] and I will pay you [gold]." But hopefully not.

It is that.

But that's still okay, everything gets old in time, but Skyrim is at least trying to keep it from getting old longer than other games, I could imagine I stop playing Skyrim for a while and find the random quests very helpful to direct me back to the game.

You realize that MMO stands for Massively MULTIPLAYER Online game, right? So, single player MMO is an oxymoron.

Randomly generated quests would only be a bad thing if Bethesda took the lazy route and made all quests outside the main quest randomly generated. Which they didn't, it's just another extra thing to keep you busy.

People always complained about how after becoming the head of a guild or whatever there's nothing left to do, well now there is.

There is a random generator quest system. But you guys keep defending this , I dont care. I know what I want to play. I'm disappointed in this. Now when your playing the game..how do u know if the quest is part of a story or some random fetch quest???

i honestly cannot understand your mentality... you'd prefer a game that has limited quests so that when you're done, you have nothing to do but wander aimlessly? i'd rather have something to do the entire amoutnt of time that i am going to own the game, which may be a while.

Also, in answer to your question, we wont be idiots...

I really dont understand what you are raging about? The quests the article speaks of are OPTIONAL quests that can be done mostly after you are done with the scripted stuff.
"Once you complete the scripted quest lines for each group, you can go to their respective hubs and pick up randomly generated missions to steal gems or assassinate shopkeepers across Skyrim’s massive world"

You dont have to do these quests, they are simply never ending content for you to do IF YOU WISH, after everything else is done. I sincerely doubt you can even mistake these quests for scripted ones.

I dont understand. Do you guys play any other game? Or your gonna get skyrim and play years? I move on. I finish the game and then move to something else. I'm simply asking about the random quest generator. Thats all. I want to explore the game a bit..do a few things, kill dragons experience the story. I dont want to "live" there. Its just a video game.

I have already been warned once for calling stupid people stupid, but you are pushing me towards taking another one on the chin.

What are the neagtives about having a random quest generator?

The worst thing in the world in an RPG game is having nothing to do.

1. How is that like an MMO? They don't have randomly generated quests.
2. Oblivion I believe had this too.
3. Why are you mad about it? It's more content. It doesn't hurt anyone, if you don't want to do the quest, don't do it.

I can't possibly see what your reasoning is? And why would you compare it to an MMO.... You talk, but all I hear is silliness.

This. I like that you keep getting given quests after you've finished the guilds, should make it a bit more realistic.

The quests are always optional anyway, you could just ignore them.

The random quests are probably placed on notice boards or use very simple non specific dialogue. After all, they can't randomly generate voice acting.

Maybe through the lack of background info?
