Skyrim...any positive people want to speak up?

Post » Fri Sep 21, 2012 6:25 am

Well, first off people aren't being negative. They're voicing what they think would be an improvement for TES 6.

The things about Skyrim that I really like:
  • The leveling system. (finally no more power-leveling OCD)
  • The (eye-popping) visuals and the atmosphere.
  • Dragons (best implementation of them that I've seen in any game so far)
  • The variety of voice actors (as opposed to prior games' 1 per race-gender)
  • The new crafting systems. (I LOVE crafting!)
  • Mod till you drop.
Things I would like to be improved in the future:
  • Less linear dungeons.
  • Faction quest variety.
  • Spell scaling and diversity.
  • A way to use followers without fear of them being killed.
  • Reducing the number of exploits (i.e. alchemychanting, non-stop shield charge, stealing opponent's armor etc.).

I'm positive that I'd rather be at home playing Skyrim than sitting at this desk attempting to accomplish these silly tasks. Don't these people know I'm the mother freakin' Dovahkiin???

Sheesh!

I lvoe how deep the lore goes, and I love how open the world is. You can go anywhere and do whatever you want. You are not pushed to do one certain thing, and that is great. I play these games to get away, and nothing gets me away from the real world like a good Elder Scrolls game.

The guilds aren't that bad:
The Companions are okay but the storyline was too simple and short.
The Thieves Guild was cool in the beginning and then it got dull towards the middle and end.
The Mages Guild was also okay but could've been longer and actually involve learning spells.
The DB questline is awesome!

Also the environments are varied and fantastic from misty swamplands to geysers to woodland and forests to a snow covered wonderland! There is nothing like getting caught in a snowstorm while looking for ancient Nord dungeons to explore!

Yes, but if you go on a different forum, you will find them all mostly just enjoying themselves. I used to argue against those complainers, some of the points they made were pretty silly.

I'm glad to say I find the game extremely good, balances very good and such a variety of ways to play the game.

Suuuuuure I can.
-Amazing detailed races
-Ability to design your own build
-Dual wielding works great

I am also responding very positive about gameplay on ps3. I hear people complain about Skyrim on ps3 quite often. But to me the game is perfectly viable.

Chaka ZG, hello there! I hope you have been doing great.

Cause those names are robotic or godly entities that grade out products? Realistically "official" grades and ratings are still nothing more than opinions and a matter of taste, from users who just happen to be payed for playing the game and expressing their opinion.

I suppose it's always possible to dismiss someone else's opinion the way you did. A reviewer makes a living out of reviewing games, meaning he's exposed to more, and more varied, games than the average gamer, which in return should mean he's better at drawing comparisons. Supposedly, he's also on the lookout for things the average gamer doesn't notice or isn't conscious of, because the layman’s too busy immersing himself in the game. Does this mean reviewers are robots or gods? Only to someone looking to pass a straw man argument. The significant aspect of the not so great reviews Dawnguard has been getting is that they’ve been issued by magazines that have raved over Skyrim. If that makes certain forum members uncomfortable, they can always wait for sales figures in hopes of reassurance. But that won’t change the relevance of those underwhelming reviews, no matter how much you downplay them.

But Debunk, surely you're familiar with the art of confirmation Bias, the Reviews that Lauded Skyrim were used as Steel Proof of its infallibility against "haters", statements like "well you're the minority because the majority of the reviews (30 mins most of them never playing long enough for a game like skyrim) and people outside this forum Love it, so go stuff yourself" was the choice weapon for haters of "haters"

and now as you've observed because of not so great reviews, suddenly They don't matter anymore :teehee:

Hi MK-{OmegaX}!

Well, I'm not sure if forum member Chaka ZG used to resort to that line of thinking, so I wouldn't be too certain there 's contradiction in his case. Anyway, my point is that the reviews themselves, per se, are not relevant, only that an undercurrent of dissapointment runs through them. Even though I'm not a vampire enthusiast I would have loved for Dawnguard to be a smashing creative success, as that would bode great for forthcoming packs with more interesing themes. The fact that some proeminent professional reviewers don't seem to think so is kind of a double-edged sword. Beth just might hear them out, take the scolding and change course. Sales figures will be interesting to look at too.

'Postive' thread. Okay, I don't what you guys are -not- seeing but I don't see too many 'negative' threads, granted I'm only counting the ones that offer any critique towards Skyrim as negative. There are numerous threads, on the first page no less, where any one here could easily start a dialog in and just... talk about Skyrim. Hell, there's a thread now talking about a Fus Ro Dah ring tone for crying out load.

But you see what you want to see, I guess. Continue on. . .

Very well said.

I'm convinced i saw the pattern for this threads creation, The OP in another thread posted something like "I'm getting sick of all the complaining around here", It's not hard to imagine said persons knuckles turning white with rage while plotting to smite the complainers with a positive thread, Which i have to add contains the typical immature bravado language designed to segregate & belittle those so called complainers they obviously resent, It really does resemble a witch hunt at times.

If a thread displeases you leave it alone & ignore it, Immature & protectionist anti-hater reaction threads just add more fuel to the fire to an already growing intolerance towards those people who express dissatisfaction towards Skyrim..

How about we all get along.

So, on any given day, you can ramble over to the ES Skyrim forum and count no less than ten separate threads that are complaining about one thing or another in regards to Skyrim.

Much like you could in the Oblivion days.

Much like you could in the Morrowind days.

I wasn't around for Daggerfall and beyond, so I can't speak to that. I realize everyone's entitled to their own opinions, and I realize that without critisizm, the game developers have little feedback with which to improve things...but, really? Do we need to bash this game day in and day out, [censored]ing, moaning, whining and complaining about every little thing that just isn't quite right?

People...at the end of the day, it's a game. Personally, I think it's a fantastic game and rivals Morrowind (which I had much more trouble getting into) and certainly keeps me occupied. Granted, I don't have 1000 hours into it. But, here's the thing...if you've got hours and hours and hours invested in a game...how bad can it be? Obviously it's held your interest.

So, what I'd like to see in this thread is the POSITIVE things about Skyrim that you love. The general rule here will simply be the age old "If you ain't got nuthin' nice to say, then shut yo' damn mouth".

Mmkay?
blah blah blah blah, havent you learned by now that not only does this happen to these games but it happens to ANY and EVERY game ever created. It used to bugged me too but now i've just thicken my skin. We are dealing with the world wide web here. Any pimpled face kid, or some lonely grumpy old man can find something they dont like from here to kingdom come and post it on the forums.

Its a known fact that people that post are the minority of the gaming world. I wish this wasn't the case cause having the minority speak for the whole has interesting results. For instance, most people on the internet hate CoD, yet every one you know or met in real life loves it and its the only game they play, and not to mention its sales. Then look at Mass Effect, part 1 was great, then you have some cry babies who dont like the mako free roam missions and that gets wiped and its too RPGy so in pt 2 it becomes more like an action game. Also, one of my favorite games on the 360 right now is BF3. If i'd gone to the official site and read the forums bf playing this game i would have thought its the worst game in the world and may have been tempted not to buy it.

You see, take what you read on the internet with a grain of salt. Be happy with what you like and don't get svcked into the BS negativity. Sadly, it seems like only being negative people like the attention they get from it is the only thing i can guess. That or most gamers who post online are just spoiled and bitter people. I try not to even look at their agruments unless its a valid problem i'm having myself with the game. There has been a few games that i loved and then got ruined because of someone pointing out bad things about it.

Thus, thanks for you positive post. However, its a little vain in its plea for positivism in the forums. Its like some group claiming we need to end world hunger, stop all wars, get rid of all drugs, put everyone to work, and stop negativity in the Skyrim forums. See my point? It aint gonna happen.
