Skyrim...any positive people want to speak up?

Post » Fri Sep 21, 2012 10:58 am

Thanks. What do people expect a forum with nothing but praise. Everything is beautiful and works perfectly? Fix bugs is understandable and not a complaint. Asking for something that is not part of the game is not a complaint. That is why we have a modding community? You XBOX and PS3 users have access to mods as well. Just don't have access to a console. So if a non PC users make a statement asking for a console like for the PC would you label them as complainers? I am not putting down Skyrim I am just trying to make it better for other people who want more from it.
The world is not black and white. I absolutely do not expect people to fill Bethesda's inbox with flowers and bunny rabbits. If people want to complain, that's fine. Start a thread and complain away...or even join in one of the many that already exist. The choice is completely up to you. All I wanted was a thread...ONE THREAD OUT OF MANY...where people could state what they like or love about the game they so enjoy playing. Is that a problem? Too much to ask? My apologies, if that is the case.
The first half or more of the OP's post was complaining about people who complain, and not in a nice way. No respect deserved. Had they skipped the insulting tone, perhaps I'd have sympathy. They invited the drama this thread is going to degenerate into.
I don't see where I was being disrespectful in any way, shape or form. Could you please be more specific?
"If you ain't got nuthin' nice to say, then shut yo' damn mouth". Really? Sorry to inform you just like Morrowind and Oblivion it will not go away. That is why there is reviews. Yes some of us played the game but fix bugs and want mods is not complaining. So we are not shutting up our mouths.
That statement was for this thread, not the forum. You're more than entitled to speak however you wish within the rules of the forum...but the topic of this thread was for positive feedback of Skyrim. Staying on topic is one of the rules, last I checked.

People...I can't even believe I have to defend this thread. Seriously?

I'm all for constructive critisizm. I often join in so that efforts are made to make a great series even better. I just don't want to lose sight of the great games we already have, that's all.

There's lots of negativity in the world...sometimes seeing a few positive things in our day can make it a little more tolerable at times.

Keep it up Skwid, positive threads are nice

What I like in Skyrim? For example, that I can easily ignore main quest (I hate being chosen one and uberhero) and still have a lot of fun with nice sidequests and just with the world. Also, it's quite easy to modify things to my liking. I still cant believe it that I have countless of hours into it, I am on my first character and I don't even play this game properly, as Nord hero

People that complain still play Skyrim, so we at least know they're still enjoying, but they will still complain anyway.

i simple love the TES games, and as far as i love Oblivion with all my heart (my fist tes game before i had played all the others), Skyrim is the best TES game to me, i have simple played more than 1200 hours since 11/11/11 and even today i have found new places and things in the game that i didn't even expected to be there xD
i have played allot of other games, ALOT of them, but in the end i have always returned to the TES games because they are unique and special to me, i simple love to roleplay anything that crosses my mind in this awesome world called Nirn *-*

of couse that i know that somethings could be changed, others just improved, but this game is a master piece no matter what anyone could say :tes:

Hello there Skwid. Hope you're doing great.

So, on any given day, you can ramble over to the ES Skyrim forum and count no less than ten separate threads that are complaining about one thing or another in regards to Skyrim.

Much like you could in the Oblivion days.

Much like you could in the Morrowind days.

I wasn't around for Daggerfall and beyond, so I can't speak to that. I realize everyone's entitled to their own opinions, and I realize that without critisizm, the game developers have little feedback with which to improve things...but, really? Do we need to bash this game day in and day out, [censored]ing, moaning, whining and complaining about every little thing that just isn't quite right?

People...at the end of the day, it's a game. Personally, I think it's a fantastic game and rivals Morrowind (which I had much more trouble getting into) and certainly keeps me occupied. Granted, I don't have 1000 hours into it. But, here's the thing...if you've got hours and hours and hours invested in a game...how bad can it be? Obviously it's held your interest.

So, what I'd like to see in this thread is the POSITIVE things about Skyrim that you love. The general rule here will simply be the age old "If you ain't got nuthin' nice to say, then shut yo' damn mouth".

Mmkay?

There are a lot of good and even great things about Skyrim: art direction, soundtrack and physics, just to name a few. However, let me tell you that this is a public internet forum and a fairly democratic one. You are not the forum administrator, not a mod, and thus I'm afraid you do not get to dictate what gets posted and what does not. For now, no apartheid policy will be in place around here, much like it has never been in place in all the so-called negative threads, where praise is freely mingled with criticism. Expect no different around here.

I think the main issue is that people are rapidly becoming very entitled. They think that Beth should be making a game just for them that's perfect and the way they like it, and if somethings wrong Beth should immediately fix it and make it all better and rock them to sleep at night.

And frankly that just isn't the case. The people working at BGS are there to make the game they want to play. They add things they want. They choose what to leave out. They make games because they love to do it, and they make the game the way they want too. People just nitpick and think that every little thing they dont like should be changed and shame on Beth and bla bla bla.

Frankly after modding their games for 3 years, I've gotten a perspective on a lot of things that the devs have done. And some of the choices are things that people who haven't developed a game (Or complex mod) will never understand.

But let them complain. They're entitled to their opinions. Let them nitpick and spout on about every little thing that they think is wrong. That's fine, they can do that. I just wont be there for them when they don't get what they want, and don't understand why.

I think that most of Skyrim is very well done, or I at least understand why they did what they did. Very very very little of it makes me go 'What? Why the heck did they do that? :/'

Hi there Merari Good to see you!

Dawnguard is great.

Is that so? Dawnguard has been getting some cold, even icy reactions: Gamespot, IGN, Eurogamer. Even the always cheery Gameinformer was less than enthusiastic. I'm interessed in your opinion. Could you elaborate?

All the posative people are too busy playing it and being too reasonable about life to be on here.
I enjoy enjoy it a lot. But I'm going through an RTS stage right now. I've got a year to get back into Total War mode.

I think TES gets so much critizism because its unusual in the fact that it doesn't focus on getting the gameplay down. Instead, it focuses on creating the most fully realized world ever created in a video game. This is hard to dispute, maybe Mass Effect and Azeroth come close, but other than that, no game will give you the feeling that the world existed long before you entered, and will exist long before you leave, which is why TES is so easy to love. However, by having lackluster gaming mechanics, its so easy to hate as well.

I don't usually have a problem with people's complaints, although I usually disagree with about 95% of their complaints. What I do find ridiculous are the people that say "Skyrim svcks" and yet still post here to [censored] about it. Saying "Skyrim has tons of problems but I still play it and think X, Y and Z should be changed" is a million miles away from "Skyrim svcks and I hate it but don't think I'm gonna go away and play some other game when I can hang around here and piss and moan about Skyrim instead."

Without doubt, the best game I have ever played and I'm over a thousand hours in. I got my first computer in 1980, so I guess I've been waiting 22 years for this.

If I didn't love Skyrim I wouldn't spend pretty much every little scrap of free time I have to play it. I wouldn't let my characters keep journals that take up the rest of those little scraps of free time to write. I wouldn't hang around here discussing Skyrim.

Sure, it has flaws. It has bugs. Some are more annoying than others. But they are outweighted by all the good things.

Old people FTW!

Remember the good old days of swapping 5 1/4" floppies - if you happened to have a game large enough to use two 720kb disks?

Batch files? Autoexec.bat? Sound card settings?

Plunking five dollars of quarters into Gauntlet at the arcade? Having 16 color graphics and thinking that was the height of awesome?

Flight Simulator? The original Flight Simulator? Lode Runner?

Ah, the old days...

Funny thread, all I can say is after a life of gaming, the game mechanics, storylines, graphic detail, is amazing. I remember when my dad hooked pong up to the dial contoled tv in the 70's. I played commador in the 80's, the 90's I spent hours on PS and PC, then pc during the 2k's. Now I play pc/consol games of all types and I have ties to the gamming industry through graphic design and photography, I still find myself amazed at what is avalible to us today, its really just incredible.

Skyrim is a game that is in a very, very small class. Really u can count the number of open world, full emmersion games that are made for all platforms on 2 hands. It may not be the best of all time, and may not have what every single individual wants from a game that costs less than a tank of gas, but wow it is Damn top notch! There 1000's of cool things in skyrim from lighting to sounds, atmosphere to interactions this game could hardly get better without extending its relese date, and from an average gamers point of view, I have seen tons of games released with far worst bugs. This is a solid game right out of the box. Great work I say to the dev amd production teams.

I like the world, the fact that it has more freedom than most games, and that Bethesda supports modding and provides the Creation Kit. If you can't change a game to make it more like you want it to be, I don't want the game.

That phrase again, Entitled, As over-used & inappropriate as ever, I have not read a single thread on this forum that contains anyone of any description that wants the game to be perfect just for them, You know, People might be a bit miffed about key features that were removed but that's not important,Is it? I have read lots of threads where people express distaste & concern about Skyrim & a few threads that spit bile over Skyrim & it's developers but nothing like the quoted description, It's written to sound good but in truth it's complete nonsense.

Back on track to the positive, I enjoy Skyrim enough to have played it for over a thousand hours & i have enjoyed it immensely, However there are elements that absolutely infuriate me which i have discussed in various threads on this forum.
It's a great game & Bethesda are doing a magnificent job in supporting it.

Thank you Bethesda, For the 50th time at least.

Being able to craft a "best" set of armor by chaining alchemy and enchanting with 100 smithing is awesome. I have no problem feeling extremely overpowered, it satisfies my gaming OCD to know that I am as powerful as possible. I love you, Skyrim!

After years of playing on the new consoles I have to say skyrim has been my favorite of all of them. I have over 300 hours played and thats only getting higher. And I'm on ps3. It allows so much freedom to do whatever you want. Should they reintroduce things like unarmed, acrobatics, spell making.. Of course. But until they do I'll be happily killing frost trolls. :tes:

Oh man is this the thread for me... I have tons of positive things to say about Skyrim!

First off, I absolutely love that you are the Dovakhin in this game. That is one thing I missed going to Oblivion from Morrowind. In Morrowind, you were the reincarnated Neravarine, which made you feel special and you got access to special gear and even Corprus which made you immortal (for lore concerns at least). In Oblivion, you were still a hero, but it felt more like you were just any joe schmo, so I am glad you have this more important relationship to the world in Skyrim. Second, I love the world and storyline they built into the game. Fighting Alduin to prevent the destruction of the world and absorbing dragon souls is just the coolest story concept, and it makes the game feel epic and awesome.

So the main package is great, but as always, it is the little details that really make Skyrim amazing. Being able to purchase and upgrade homes is always been a big draw for me and it is improved again in SKyrim. I love all of the other quest lines in the game, with the Companions quest line being my favorite. I will also go out on a limb and say that Radiant Quests are the absolute best thing to happen to this game EVER. Sure they are just simple repeatable quests, but it rocks that you can continue to enjoy your favorite faction as long as you want without restrictions. I've done more radiant quests than I can even begin to count, they are awesome.

Overall, the actual world of Skyrim is amazing. The landscape and the locations are very well realized and add a real atmosphere to the game. The combat mechanics are still as fun as ever, and I like the ability to map magic to each hand, that is extremely, well... handy!

That is just a rambling list, but I can honestly say that there is more I could add. Sure Skyrim isn't perfect, but it delivers an experience that I have yet to see any other game even approach. Easily, my favorite game of all time.

Complaining to complain, entitled, don't play the game but comes on the forum to "troll", wants it tailored to them. all these statements are false, but what do you expect :teehee: you peeps have such a skewed notion of "complainers" its hilarious and you'd think after a year and Six months SOME KIND of understanding would be gleamed, but of course you choose not to recognize them.

People joining as early as last month have given similar sentiments to people "moaning" about it in December, seriously its hilarious but you folks seem to feel utterly opposed to any form of not talking nice about Skyrim, going on about how many negetive threads there are.

talking about http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1392725-best-hunting-spots-in-skyrim/ is negetive?

Who to marry?

Roleplaying ideas?

Favorite money shot spots?

??

you see what you want to see and involve yourself in what you want, if you don't like "negetive" threads then don't click them. And I've said my breath of what I love in Skyrim enough over the many months for Poor reasons. to appease "anti-whiners" to prove that I'm not a "hater" or to be apart of the status-quot and you know what, I'm done with that, its not like anyone cares.
