Is Skyrim "Dumbed Down" Compared to Previous TES Games? [mer

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 12:46 am

Yes, they took so much stuff out of this TES that omg just wow...

It's like I'm playing Super Mario Bro's or Donkey Kong.

I can't even bring myself to call this The Elder Scrolls.

Morrowind and Daggerfall are like the best games ever made, in history, for reals.

I need my attributes, how do I know what my character is?

I must be able to see first person or fight from a horse, even in tunnels where the horse couldn't possibly fit.

My sweetroll got an arrow in the knee just so we could get dual wielding.

Spell-crafting, loregut, blah blah...

*snip*

Holy crap, I swear these sorts of threads are auto-generated somehow.

(1) Insert some reference to something which of course svcks because it isn't done the way it was in Morrowind.

(2) Add some complaints about PC-gaming superiority.

(3) Add related [censored]ing about "kids" and casual gamers like it's a sin to bother with any game that doesn't require at least forty to eighty hours of your time.

(4) Imply that Bethesda owes the self-appointed Elite PC Non-Casual Gamers the game they want the way they want it, even at the cost of (drastically) lower sales.

(5) Mix and match at random.

I blame the console kiddies! I mean, this crap of a game was obviously targeted to that damn ADD CoD lovin' crowd. And Hell! Look at the PS3 that [censored] cant even handle Skyrim! Beth needs to ditch the [censored] consoles and go back to making real RPGs for real gamers, i.e. computers only.
I disagree the console sales have helped the company greatly.
Without them there would probably not be a Skyrim.
I blame those that think less is ok.

Watch out for angry kids. They are gonna call you old and unable to adapt. Don't be sad though, it's not like it's your fault you feel Sagan's Cosmos being "streamlined" to Dora the Explorer level.

I'm 35, and have been gaming - lots of RPG's included- for 20 years.

Yet, I think most of you making threads like this are whiny little crybabies, with a sense of entitlement, and no idea what a well designed game actually is beyond what your memories of your precious spellmaking, first person horse riding and whatever hold.

Seriously, it's the same group of like five of you that won't leave, what are you still doing here, and why don't you find something better to do?

Acrobatics and Athletics just made you run faster and jump higher. While I always liked maxing those skills, they weren't exactly a core skill, no?

Attributes...meh.
Hey! The Acrobatics skill has been the core of my character since Arena! I miss that skill, dammit.

Another "Dumbed Down" thread again. All I have to say is: Another complainer, here to lick Morrowind's boot. Good job.
Fixed for you

Right. I stand corrected then. Angry kids AND angry advlts. I don't see threads praising Skyrim getting any of the bashing and flaming though. Wonder why.

This is no different than Bungie.net's forums regarding Reach...

Oy. I bet it is. I've never been to their forums, but I know a guy on another forum who EEEEEEEENDLEEEEESSSSSSLYYYYY pisses and moans about bullet drop and reticule bloom and armor lock and the whole panoply of things in Reach that weren't in Halo 3 and therefore by definition must such. No matter how many damn times I explained to him exactly why reticule bloom is entirely realistic he still [censored]es that he should be able to shoot the same exact place twice. I keep telling him that if he thinks he should be able to [censored] Robin Hood two bullets at long range even with a scope then he's living in another universe with different physical laws, but that's how some people think.

Because they are less unpleasant to read probably?

Is it really that hard to figure out? The constant )(*&((ing creates an obnoxious atmoshpere, especially when it's the same small group of people doing alot of it..over, and over, and over again, with no constructive purpose, pure trolling.

That's the exact truth. I tend not to even mention the few quibbles I have with the game because all the [censored]ing about how OMG WE WUZ ROBBED pisses me off to no end. It's pure childishness. Bored 20 year olds that probably need to study for tomorrow's classes, but who instead fire up their bong yet again and hit the internet to piss and moan about a computer game.

probably because they're not all about the same 5 things from the same 5 people.
That, and these threads are usually filled with complaints from people that think their ideas are the only good ones

So it's "trolling" if you think Skyrim is a dumbed down piece of [censored]?

Or maybe some people are just taking other people's opinions way too seriously and raging all over the place

Its trolling if you can't look and see literally HUNDREDS of threads about the same exact thing you're trying to critique.

These forums need a seperate sub-forum just for this, it has entirely polluted this place.

Yes, especially when you repeat it over and over again just to get a rise, with no real discussion...pretty much the definition of trolling in fact!

It's trolling to constantly post the same [censored]es, gripes and complaints over and over again even though you know full well that the same points have been made ten quintillion times.
