Can't scale mountains, so the game is linear?

LOL

I think we are, but I think you're a Bethesda nuthugger who probably never played Daggerfall or Morrowind--so your opinion is worthless.
So wait, im trying to understand something here... Im a Bethesda fan-boy and Im a Bethesda newbie?

Next time you assume a whole bunch of crap about people you dont know in some vain attempt to insult and discredit them, at least try to make sense will ya? Now you just look dumb...

some of the dungeons seem linear to me, walk down this hallway, kill something, walk down this hallway, rinse and repeat

but i'm only a few hours in, so maybe they change a little bit.

i don't really want to have mazes for dungeons, but they do seem a little linear to me

Some of the interior dungeons do feel linear, with very few physical "paths" to take. But dungeons take many forms, like dwemer ruins, and castle fortresses inhabitted by bandits. Those types of "dungeons" do not feel linear at all.

Morrowind's dungeons were not much less linear than Skyrim's, and they were far less 3 dimensional as well.

Yes, you're probably a console user who played Oblivion for 5 minutes or watched somebody else play Oblivion for 5 minutes on their console; then when you heard and read that the next Elder Scrolls, Skyrim, would have dragons, you hopped off you Deathknight in WoW and asked your mommy if you could borrow 60 bucks for 11/11/11.

So you're a Elder Scrolls newb and you hug Bethesda's nuts.

I don't think you know how to read. I didn't say you can scale every single mountain in Morrowind. I said you can scale most and there were no invisible barriers.

But in Skyrim there are many mountains you cannot scale and there are invisible barriers; and they're used to guide players to certain areas.

Now Please continue, my good sir..

Most? I doubt that. Most of the mountains are on the islands interior, and there are plenty of "steep" parts, just as there are "steep" parts of Skyrim's mountains.

This whole thread is ridiculous and the apologists for the OP even more so.

Morrowind is one of the greatest games ever made. It's been the top of my list for a very long time, but it's time to see the fact that Skyrim beats it in almost every way. It's time to move on.

Eh, OP - sorry, I am not going to re-open. Too much bickering, flames from people both pro and anti- Bethesda and then some grandstanding by the apparent arbiters of what is and is not linear . To be honest, I;d rather go play Skyrim right now than try to tidy up this thread.

It's a game, and in spite of some flaws, a damned good one, imo. Sorry you found it restrictive. This has not been my experience, happily.
