Is Skyrim like Ireland?

Post » Wed Oct 31, 2012 3:17 am

Skyrim is like Ireland in many ways, I my opinion:
  • Like the civil war in Skyrim, there has been the Irish troubles, where there has been disputes over land and religion.
  • The Dawnstar hold is also known as The Pale which is also what the area around Dublin used to be called.
  • The typical Nord is very like that of a typical Irish person in that they are boystrous, fairhaired, arrogant, [censored] and generally like drinking alcohol/mead.
  • The weather in Skyrim is normally cold and snowy. The weather in Ireland is usually cold and when it does snow, the snow sticks around for some time.
  • The lay of the land in Skyrim, is the same as that of Ireland. The land is hilly, full of open areas and forestry, and not to mention practically filled with farms.
  • If you take a map of Skyrim and turn it to its left into a portrait position, it looks like Ireland, also is you cut off, Leyawin county from Cyrodill, it looks like Northern Ireland.
  • The Imperials are like that of an Englishman in the middle ages, they both normally have templar like armour and their accents are quite sophisticated like an Englishman's. Englishmen and Imperials also invaded a close country.
  • Ireland previously had Chieftains for each County just like that of Skyrim, they even had a High King.
  • There are many ancient structures in Ireland, which is obviously the case in Skyrim.
In conclusion I see many similarities between Skyrim and Ireland, I did not do this to say that Skyrim loosely based on Ireland I am just pointing it out, as I am a smart and beautiful person. Honestly, Scandinavia is most like Skyrim out of all. I'm just comparing my Homeland to Skyrim.
State your opinion below, Credit to my friend ThePitProd for pointing out a few things.

Talos guide you.

There is no good ale as Guinness in Skyrim.
But in other things, you do have a point. Many events are quite alike :D

Yes, it's exactly a copy of Ireland. The only thing to debate is whether the bards are better than U2 or not.

Yes, we don't argue against that we're just saying it is like Ireland as well.

Problem is that, at least for those not of the UK, the two "merge" because of the viking invasions in the early middle ages. To the rest of us, Vikings are as British as they are Scandanavian. The US is especially prone to this; I don't think (much) knowledge of the viking's homeland is taught below the College level anymore.

Londonderry... You're a pretend Irishman!

You could say the same for any country in Britain too (As well as Ireland), to be honest. Geographically, Scotland Ireland England and Wales are nigh identical (only differences being, Scotland is the most mountainous by far and England is quite flat), they all consume too much alcohol, they've all been invaded and occupied by a foreign power, there have been disputes over religions with aforementioned foreign powers, there have been similar structures of rule and they've all killed each other over these sorts of things etc

Actually, it goes like this...

England = Tea-Drinkers

Ireland = Alcoholics

Scotland = Mix of both

Ireland is one of the biggest consumers of tea per capita on the planet (I need a life).

You have many good points though I believe that the part about snow is more Scandinavian than anything else, then again, I don't live in Ireland. (It started snowing last week where I live though, good thing I have central heating and Fire Breath Skyrim to keep me warm :tongue:)
