I am going to just throw this out there, but i bet many game freezes are caused by 1 of two things:
1. There is a scratch, smudge, or perhaps a part of the disk is not readable (that would explain crashes only occuring in Understone Keep for example...the data on that part of the Cd just may be corrupt...no one said all discs are made perfect...have you tried using a different Skyrim disc when visiting there?)
2. Your Xbox 360 DVD Drive needs cleaned (most likely) or is dieing(not likely) I clean my Xbox 360 Drive 1-2 times per month....taking discs in and out, opening and shutting the tray, etc allows dust to get in....1 spec of dust in the right place can make your game play just fine until you get to the place it needs to read where there is dust on the eye and boom freeze.
I reccommened cleaning your Xbox 360 drive....get a drive cleaner and clean it...i bet it helps big time....ever put used games in your Xbox? Borrow your friends games? god knows what kinda much you have inside that Xbox drive...clean it....i bet it does wonders.....
Just so you know, Mine used to freeze all the time too...I took it part and cleaned the Drive Lense...I haven't had one single freeze in 4 months know....all my freezing problems vanished when i cleaned the drive...my drive was dirty too and my Xbox slim is only a little over a year old...but there was a good bit of dust in there....
