Skyrim texture bug might be worse then everybody thinks

I play off the disk and the textures are looking poorer when you play with disk.

Well, so far you're one of the first. lol.

Well, so far you're one of the first. lol.

I tried it 3 times with and without installed it on HDD. I compared the bottom textures, stone wall textures, sword textures and wood textures.
With HDD it always looked better but the vanilla textures are not assking
PS: don't look closer thats very pixelic

The textures should look the same no matter if played from disc or HDD.
So it's still a bug, just the other way around in your case :D

Kind of is....most of these people are just informing other fans that there is a problem and it needs to be addressed/not tolerated. Its education. What if it was a more extreme situation, and Skyrim was actually a pure puzzle game, and these "trouble making leakers" were informing people that paid good money and anticipated this game were being duped on false pretenses. Its the same principal. They're mostly trying to help. Yeah, there are some trolls, but these guys are just over exaggerating jerks. Most of this info comes from legit sources. This is an issue, and the customers have a right to know before its too late to get a refund.

Especially when Pete Hines is unintentionally(?) lying about it.

But the product is not even released yet. Anyone who's unhappy with their purchase can obtain a refund stating the goods are not fit for purpose. But this is jumping the gun because the developers have stated there will be a patch on the first day of release.

I'll also point out that "unintentionally lying" is an oxymoron. Lying is knowingly stating something that is untrue, usually with malicious intentions. Most untruths are not lies and labelling someone a liar who isn't is deeply offensive, in fact it can be considered slander or libel.

What i can say is that the sounds are really great (Battlefield feeling - but in a smoother style^^) everything makes noises: bushes, trees, footsteps, etc...

Well, first off, some may not want to waste there time. Secondly the patch has been pretty much confirmed by now to not fix the issue. This is why everyone wants a concrete response from Bethesda. Idk about you, but I don;t like hanging in uncertainty, and I don't want my maiden voyage into Skyrim to be more akin to Turok: Dinosaur Hunter.

I'll also point out that "unintentionally lying" is an oxymoron. Lying is knowingly stating something that is untrue, usually with malicious intentions. Most untruths are not lies and labelling someone a liar who isn't is deeply offensive, in fact it can be considered slander or libel.

Omg, I don't care, and neither does he. I'm not trying to insult him, and even if i were, I;m sure he isn;t loosing sleep over some random poster(whose post he'll probably never see) said something vaguely bad about him.
He said something that isn't true. That's it.

You might noticed that the DVD spins much longer when installed then older games, in Battlefield 3 we needed to wait for the Disk stops to spin BEFORE we installed the HD texture pack, otherwise the HD texture pack would be corruped, and the textures wern't loading.

Really? I have Battlefield 3 on XBox and I never had to wait for the disk to stop spinning before installing the HD texture pack, not sure where you got this from!

Also, you say the Skyrim texture bug MIGHT be worse then everybody thinks. Why speculate on something that you do not know for certain is an issue? The game will not be released until tomorrow so no one knows if this issue does actually exist. Those people who claim to be playing the game now and have apparently reported it are playing leaked copies whose legitimacy is questionable. Bethesda have CONFIRMED that they are releasing a patch tomorrow (the actual release day) to fix some stability issues and minor bugs so until the game is released we should remain sceptical of reports from players who shouldn't have the game yet!

Correct me if I'm wrong but the official release date for Skyrim is 11/11/11. I am looking at my calendar now and it clearly states 10/11/11. Call me sceptical but given that you are apparently playing the game already I would question whether your copy is actually legitimate and, until I play it on the official release day and see for myself, as far as I'm concerned this issue does not exist!

Of course they aren't, they were never meant to beat battlefield's graphics.

This game isn't about it's graphics, but gameplay.

Also they look really nice IMO, ofcourse if you're used to crysis/bf3 pc graphics, you'll be SLIGHTLY (not much) put down, but they still amaze me as they put so much on the screen.

I have the 360 copy, received it yesterday. So I guess you should make your own opinion once you see it.

Regardless of the problem it's hilarious to see people getting upset (you're one of many) that Beth hasn't addressed a gameplay issue when the game hasn't been officially released yet. I had no idea there were so many "special kids" playing TES.

Yep. Noticed that too. Any time they can say " Good thing I bought for PC, tee hee", they jump. Nice.
Good thing I bought it for 360. :celebration:

I'm personally all over the place about this, so I'll save further consideration and reaction for when I've played the game (360 owner here).

With that said, I want to point out one thing in terms of the retail 360 copies. Maybe where you live, your local game retailers never, ever, absolutely positively do not break street date. But understand that many stores received their retail copies in advance. They're not magically appearing at midnight on 11/11/11. Some people are failing to understand that those small, indie or mom and pop stores DO sell their retail copies prior to street date. I personally know of one store that sells movies and games as early as two weeks in advance of street date.

I do not agree with this practice. It is illegal. However, it means that there ARE people that are playing legitimate retail copies prior to release. These are not unfinished copies that Beth somehow shipped accidentally. If there is an issue with textures on 360 versions of the game, it is completely conceivable and likely that the copies are what we will be playing come 11/11.

If it's a problem, I hope and trust that Beth will do the right thing and acknowledge and address the issue.

It was released in Australia today, the texture bug is simply a bug that sometimes makes the pixels in some parts of the screen go funny but it soon ends... nothing major :)
Exactly, it's nothing major at all and people are going crazy over something that could be corrected in a short time. There are worse things to worry about with Skyrim such as Gamebreaking bugs that are usually in Beth games.

It's both Disk or HDD that this problem is occuring from. I don't have my copy yet but I've heard from other people on this site that say that going into the main menu and then backing out of it is the cause of the bug because after you back out some of the textures don't load right. It's certainly a problem although minor in comparasion to the other problems that the game will probably have.
