SNES Recommendations

For clarity's sake, it is perfectly legal to use an emulator (or even ROMs) if you have the official game. I emulate PS2 games on my PC too, but I use the original DVD, which means it's completely legal. Just so there's no misunderstandings
That is true. However, very few make their own ROMs from their own cartridges/hardware, but instead pirate another copy of the ROM illegally. Like the PS2 BIOS ROM for example, how many extracted that one from their own PS2?

This is why we don't want any discussion about emulators here, there are too many holes. Well, with the exception of DOSBox as it doesn't require any extra ROM of any sort and can be used to run games available for free from http://www.elderscrolls.com.

Fair enough, was just saying, just because it's an emulator, it's not illegal per se :)

My son found an SNES at a garage sale a few years ago. He bought it from the lady for $10 then I went out and bought a ton of games for it plus the 8bit memory cartridge thingy.

With a game selection that's absolutely pitiful and doesn't even touch some of the best games on the system.

My answer would be - 'if you want to'.

I was curious about this..

Now I'm not getting a Wii lol.

We vought a Wii when it came out. Played the crap out of it for 6 months. Now, it collects dust. Next to the GameCube it's one of Nintendo's crappier systems.

ive never had the system, should i buy one?

If you're set on getting one check out the thrift stores in your area first. I found a working system at a store for 15 bucks. Even had a few games there for 20 more dollars (the batteries in them still worked surprisingly).

Bunch of games I would recommend have already been mentioned. If you can find them though NBA Jam and Mortal Kombat I & II are great multiplayer games that are still fun to play with a crowd.

Nah, you could just buy the games on the Nintendo Wii Virtual Console instead, which is easier than to hunt down game cartridges and also give you better image quality on the TV thanks to Component video cables as older consoles tend to give a fairly blurry image on a modern flat screen.

I do find it very unfortunate http://gizmodo.com/380572/snes-controller-for-wii-unboxed-looks-incredibly-authentic was never released for sale though. I really wish there was a good classic controller for the Wii that is wired and connected to the USB port instead of draining the battery of the Wiimote.

If you want to take a look at SNES games I highly recommend the Nintendo Virtual store. They are converting a BUNCH of games including old arcade games like galaga. The NES games are like $5 I think with SNES games ranging from $8 to $10. It's a little steep in price, but you're paying not just for the game. You're also paying for the ability to save files and store data with it. Love the fact I can pause these older games then come back to it at a later date.

Also forgot to mention Super Metroid which is an amazing game including the secret areas. Mortal Kombat I wouldn't mess with since it is a little antiquated and you have to enable the "blood cheat" though that maybe sega only.
