Songs that haunts and amazes you

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 11:08 am

I was laying in bed last night thinking about things, when suddenly http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwTqNNXNQnA (not the intro) came into my head. When I first heard the song in the movie, I was transfixed - almost paralyzed - by the beauty of it. As I sat listening, I had an ever increasing desire to be part of that world, and it pained me that I could not. The song's so powerful for me that I had multiple dreams related to the movie last night, just from playing the song back in my head before sleep took hold of me.

Another song that really stuck with me was http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vl4oERwGJWs&feature=related from the movie Take Shelter. That movie's entire soundtrack is great, but when this song in particular began playing, I was once again mentally transported elsewhere. There's just something about music such as this that affects me on a very emotional level, and makes me wish that I lived in a more fantastic and mysterious world. It brings to life the slumbering wanderlust inside me, something I don't normally feel.

So, what songs do this for you all? Songs that seem to permeate to your very soul?

I have a New Age album called Incantation from Tim Wheater and there's a song on it titled "Dark Falls the Night"....best song ever made. The album itself has some great songs and come in second to my other New Age favorite Vangelis's Oceanic---now that album is----EPIC!!!

That was great. I've never seen a piece like that performed live, and now I want to.

Found it and gave it a listen, and it is extremely good. Very relaxing and majestic. Keep 'em coming, guys!

I also have:
Halo 1&2 soundtracks.
Castlevania Simon's Best II (imported-has music from SC IV and the two game boy castlevania games).
Castlevania Dracula X (another import I bought has music from Rondo of Blood and Bloodlines).
Lunar: Silver Star Harmony (came with the game).
Ys Seven.
Ys Chronicals I and II.
These also have great songs on them.

Right off the top of my head, I'd have to say http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_p5u1NUC6eg, by :Wumpscut: is a very gripping song. Unfortunately, I am unable to listen to this song repeatedly due to the fact that my ex loved this song almost as much as me, and hearing it numerous times sends me into a depressive mood. (pro tip - don't like the same music your gf does, you may dislike it later)

Another that immediately pops into my head is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENslCrblVxA by Ayria. It has it's own degree of darkened beauty.

Then there's the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUINZObuGUM from the SMT OST of Persona 4. Granted it's a little more upbeat than the previous 2 songs mentioned, I still find myself enthralled with it over most of the other songs on the OST.

Then of course, there's a very significant amount of music from the .hack universe that makes me feel content when I hear it. I dare say I rather enjoy it over the music of the Final Fantasy series.

Got another great song I'm listening to right now---it's almost breathtaking cause it's so beautyful . The name of the song is "Unicorn Dreamride" from the album Bringers of the Dawn by Herb Ernst. This song is epicly peaceful and yet a little sad too---but damn is it wounderful.

How serene,
How kind,
How lovely,

Oh, lily of chastity (or purity)

I'll never forget the Halo 3 music.

In my mind it's some of the greatest piano music ever composed, and it fit so well with the somber mood of the story. The first time I heard it when playing Halo 3, I just had to sit back and say wow. Here is the youtube link to it, it really kicks off at about 1:55ish: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJ4iOQ7p1LA.

Sixth Stop is a great track. I love that track in the movie. Very moving.

I know this may be weird but people are never the same being, but I cannot whatsoever listen to this piece as it haunts. Why? It reminds me of my dad when he was on his death bed for some insane reason...
