Just thought I'd leave this here for anyone who hasn't noticed this yet.

Replaces spiders with bears! :D

Note: This is not my mod. I just noticed it on the nexus and remembered this thread. ^^

Thanks man, I would give you a kiss if you were here:)

What about me who is afraid of heights to the point that even in games I do not dare go near some chasms. In one game I had tot make a friend do some jump for me

Can someone make Skyrim all flat for me?

I feel you, I have a - very tiny - fear of heights, nothing serious, but I love jumping from extreme heights like bungee jumping, for the doubled adrenaline I get. you should try it. :D
I don't know if you feel it too, but whenever I jump off a cliff or something in a game, I get a weird feeling in my stomach. xD

Thanks for anyone who tried to help. :D
and for those who wants me to overcome it, I almost had a mental breakdown when I was at the end of the hall, and that....thing, shot a web at me...I almost puked, and I had to call my brother to help me defeat it.
Bro. It's all in your head.

Your brother helped *you* defeat it. He didn't defeat it for you, did he? You know you can defeat them, you know you can conquer your fears!

Another option might be to just remove the Nif from the BSA -- then the game would replace it with the default missing mesh ( Big red exclamation point IIRC) so you'd be fighting an web shooting exclamation point !

This idea has legs. Or rather no legs.

I think I may be doing a playthrough called "GameplayJenny Fights The Exclamation Marks"

EDIT: On a more serious note, are these things avoidable? Appear at a certain level, that kind of thing?

Regardless of whether you're arachnophobic, every second dungeon being spider-infested is rather lame and uncreative :P

In fact, I haven't entered a dungeon without spiders yet.
I have only been in one dungeon with spiders the rest were undead, deadra or humans.

How do you install the bear mod?

Unzip it to the data folder, then check the "load loose files" in the data files menu of the launcher.

BTW, anyone got to the giant spider "boss" using this mod? Does this censure THAT one also?

Yes, it does. It's actually rather funny, because it doesn't move at all, it just slides downward in a completely static position. lol

I couldn't loot the boss though because I was using that. Hopefully it didn't have anything good. lol

Until there's a mod, one way you might get through the dungeon you're in is to go back into town and hire a mercenary. Let them kill it for you while you wait around the corner. Depending on the way your phobia works, that might at least allow you to move on through the quest.

Thanks man, I'm trying with the help of some friends to conquer them. I don't exactly know why they scare me so much, and I know its all in my head, its just utterly unexplainable, kind of like claustrophobia.

I have only been in one dungeon with spiders the rest were undead, deadra or humans.

Three out of three dungeons I completed had spiders in them.
And I think I saw someone in plane Skyrim too, though I'm not sure, since I replaced a mesh for a creature called somethingspider, and the replaced mesh appear, though I'm not really sure he's a spider.
Another option might be to just remove the Nif from the BSA -- then the game would replace it with the default missing mesh ( Big red exclamation point IIRC) so you'd be fighting an web shooting exclamation point !

Problem is, I can't repackage the BSA file in a way that Skyrim would recognize it, the game always crash the moment it tries to read a model in the loading screen.

Apologies for laughing at some of this topic OP, I feel for you bro really. I've ALWAYS been scared of deep water in real life, mainly due to a rational fear of terrifying sharks, and I remember in Oblivion if my character was to so much as get his feet wet, I'd have to swim through looking away from the screen. :D

I have to say, murdering several hundred of the things that epitomise your fear may well go some way in alleviating the problem, as Torrello said!
I have a phobia of being in the ocean and scuba diving and stuff, even if it's fairly shallow. I tried to go diving over a reef about 2 years ago and I got so terrified, my heart was beating very repidly and I was hyperventilating through my snorkel. But it doesn't scare me at all to go diving in the game. I guess it's the 100% certainty there's nothing there but Salmon and slaughterfish, and the fact that it's not really me, and the fact that underwater doesn't look fully real, and the fact that there's no water pressure constricting my breathing. But even with scuba diving I know it's pretty safe, that there's probably nothing that will hurt me swimming about, I still get terrified.

Found the HUGE queen spider thing in the broodlair man you should check the sunabiatch out. Even I was made nervous by it, after I fireballed its face away I decided (for the first time) too see if reanimate works on animals. It does, and the HUGE HAIRY EIGHT LEGGED MONSTROSITY (with oddly cute eyes) came marching towards me with that tell tale edgy spider gait (they extend their legs through hydrolic pressure, this and the fact they have eight legs contribute to their somewhat twitchy fashion of movement which is infact what triggers the phobia in the majority of sufferers), [censored] I couldn't muster up the courage to kill it again so I packed my balls up and whirlwind sprinted the [censored] outa there, then I took a shower IRL and here I am.

Read up online articles on how to fix your phobia. I hope that will help you a bit.

I personally recommend playing when you aren't alone in the room. I had a degree of fear towards skeletal entities (including dry corpse) as a child (a "rag skeleton" haunted, choked and almost killed me in my dreams), so I kinda understand. I actually got through System Shock and Diablo by playing in the fully-illuminated common room with 40+ noisy classmates.

Present day me (at least in game): If I see things that might kill or stagger me, burn it into Oblivion. If that fails, there's the axe.

@Radio Voice: There might be a way to patch PS3/360 games in the future. It was (IIRC) possible with previous games to limited extent.

Close your eyes and ears when it comes to a spider fight. Beat it up blind. That's the only way for NOW.

Actually if someone deliberately fought a giant spider blindfolded I'd be impressed, and see them as very very very brave. Personally I wouldn't go near a spider half the size of Skyrim's spiders, and if someone else did... Especially blindfolded I'd consider it an act of heroic valor.

Hairy spiders... My least favorite kind of spiders, it isn't soft and fuzzy like a kittens fur either. Oh and fyi, a lot of spiders like to reside near toilet public seats. I saw a video the other day with 3 big spiders by a toilet seat.

This UI redesign looks very impressive. I wonder why they didn't make a UI of this quality as part of the original game.

A simple but powerful suggestion:

When viewing the inventory in list view, add in a 4th column that displays a gold per weight unit value. Would make for very efficient dungeon looting.

Unfortunately as far as true phobias go all the "face your fears"stuff is just psychobabble.

They are a primal and extremely strong reflex, and just like any reflex it goes straight from visual pattern recognition to chemical secretion.

All thought processes bypassed or overridden.

In that way true phobias are different from fear by association and acquired "logical" fears such as a fear of horrible death by X,Y or Z.

No treatment has been proven to work, though many would say that "their's" does, and would be happy to charge a lot of money for it :P .

You can of course learn to force yourself to go through it, just like with anything, but that feeling of extreme terror never goes away.

It is there for the 10,000th time just the same as it was there for the first.

From the ceiling as well...bastards :D. It did however make some of the dungeons very... atmospheric.

I will do no such thing, but thanks for starting my list of places I will never go in-game.

I can only hope. :nope: I'm on the road to Riften, and I've encountered 3 Frostbite Spiders just chilling on the path. I can't travel alone; I have to have an NPC with me to fight them off, because I just can't do it.

Apparently this is a common problem, as a mod was created just days after the release.

That's absurd!

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?mi6eg79a2d44ckj: Alters LVLCs to exclude spiders and disables the vast majority of placed spider ACHRs. There are still a few in interiors as removing them would necessitate overriding some CELL records and in doing so would have removed a bunch of cell subrecord data. Will complete it when there's a Skyrim editor.

I haven't tested it, but should be a better alternative.

Note: Until an editor comes out, interiors with removed spiders will look ...funky. I'll rebuild this plugin when able.
