Step away from the MMO button

Don't let Zenimax do it Beth!! Your single player games are incredible (and more-so when the community gets their construction kits to fix what is left broken)...but even with these flaws the game is so massive that it leaves us in awe. We are able to take time to dig deep into the world and lore. In an MMORPG, many players do not devote time to lore and exploration (things that TES games really do well in accommodating). TES games will not transfer well to an MMORPG unless major changes are made but then...would it be a TES game? Beth, we love yah even when you make our dragons fly backwards because we know that if you don't fix it the incredible modder community will. That modder community will not be at your disposal in such a capacity when you deal in MMOs.

Please Beth, TES games are one of my last bastions of sandbox freedoms that are apart from the MMO monotony. If you must though, dip your toes first. Offer online co-op/campaigning like Battle.net does with their non-MMO games (you pick the players you play with [husband/sister/friend from out of state]...NOT a random-match-up like COD/Dungeon Siege). That would work incredibly. I'd even pay a monthly sub so I can play Skyrim online with my husband and close friends...but NOT massively...NOOOOOOT massively....please.

Will it hurt the TES series though? Will bethesda suffer for Zenimax's failed MMO adaption? If not, then I can ignore it. However, I stick to my word when I say I would gladly pay monthly for a co-op option for Skyrim and any future TES games.

We KNOW it's not BGS making it.

The problem is that you're basically beheading the Elder Scrolls franchise with this.

ZOS has been working on this for several years, it may be a tad late to suggest they consider something else first.

Bethesda has continued to work on the lore of the Elder Scrolls despite knowing that many people aren't going to read it. Similarly, I expect ZOS is giving the background and setting of TESO due consideration even though they expect many people won't delve into it too deeply. Lore is great though since even if people don't read it all it still gives the world a richness and depth they can appreciate.

I swear...

People are welcome to express their concerns, but rudely telling people off is not acceptable. Please be more considerate.

How so? There been two multiplayer games in the TES franchise in the past, and they didn't change the main series in any noticeable way.

I wouldn't assume that failure is a foregone conclusion. As for the potential for Bethesda Game Studios to "suffer," I'm sure they wouldn't let another studio work on their best-known IP unless they had the utmost trust in their capabilities and direction.

/sigh.

Zenimax. Bethesda.

See that? Those names are different. So are the companies, teams, and games they make.

Think. Before. Raging.

Indeed, the widely-known Elder Scrolls multiplayer games...

Wait what?

Yeah, that's how big those got. We both know this is a completely different product.

They've been making this for several years now, it's a tad late to be asking for them to stop. :]

Just, er...cross your fingers and hope it's decent? Can't really say much else.

A different product, sure, but still irrelevant to the main series.

The Elder Scrolls Series. The Elder Scrolls Series.

See that? Those names are the same. So is all the beloved lore, exploration possibilities, freedoms to play hardmode or overpowered bada**...and dozens of other stuff that your very typical MMO gamer does not appreciate...but we will still be playing on their turf dealing with their "Petme Immakitty" names...and so on...and so forth.

Hard to make that assumption when Zenimax owns Bethesda Studios, not the other way around. Zenimax could plop a turd on a plate and call it Elder Scrolls Online and the Bethesda devs can't do or say a thing about it.

It carries the same name, and the more publicity it gets the more it's going to hurt the franchise overall.

I expected more from Zenimax, not them jumping on the bandwagon - a bandwagon which will lead to nothing but failure...

^ My prediction, take it with a grain of salt.

ROFL, what? Uh, the elder scrolls MMO is not the elder scrolls series. it's two different things made by two different people. How does this not make SENSE to you?

This game is being made by a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT GROUP OF PEOPLE AND A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT COMPANY. Good LORD.
