Stop right now, ZMO. Stop and reconsider your female armours

Two women flanking four men. Both of those women are showing far more skin than is sensible. All of the male characters are wearing protective armour. The next woman to be shown is wearing a briastplate with large spaces made for her briasts. That is not actually a necessary part of a briastplate, guys. Why don't the men have cavernous spaces for their junk to hang in? Because most men don't have large enough packages to warrant it? That's funny because those briasts look very large by most people's standards. Queen Ayrenn's showing off her cleavage nicely as well.

I'm sorry, but at what point did the dev team decide to follow the artistic direction of the adolescent crap that a large part of the modding community puts out? I'm talking about skimpy armours and UNP and similarly stereotypical basemant-dweller fantasies that undermine the credibility of the entire game world in which they are presented.

We've seen little gameplay so far, so my issue is not with the game - yet. I'm worried about the artistic direction of their concept art. I don't mind nudity or mature themes, but if a character's going to go to the effort of wearing armour then that armour should at least look like it'll do the job. I am not roleplaying an airheaded bimbo who wants to look like a princess on the battlefield while tanning her cleavage. Concept art comes from the design document and the artist. Are ZMO's artists immature and sixist or is the design document lacking? Food for thought.

Edit: how do I post a Youtube URL without the forum automatically shortening and hyperlinking it?

/sign.

EDIT: Sure, in this case she is supposed to be a sneaky archer by the looks of it, but she can have light armor on without looking like a [censored].

ugh. This has been talked about already, and Im sure there is already a thread for it.

Im not for useless armor that many fantasy games present, although I believe (considering what we have seen) that useless erotica armor wont make a large appearance in the game.

I second that. If ZOS wants to put in skimpy armor, they should at least add a non-skimpy version of that armor and DON'T have fighting NPCs wear the revealing version.

As a female I hate bulky clothes on me at any time. I understand that the wearing of armour is a little different, but it is a fantasy game after all, and I still want my character to look good same as I like to present irl.

TL;DR: I don't really care so long as it isn't tacky.

It's a bit ---> eh. Not as bad as some I've seen in MMORPGs though. I just don't like bulky or ill-fitting armour. The kind of thing that makes your silhouette look the same as a guy. Usually caused by not bothering to wrap the armour to a female body, just using the male body as default.

I have played MMO's with a lot of women over the years and I have to say that most of them prefer armor that makes their character look good to them, ie the skimpy armor the OP is complaining about, complete with the high heel boots and shoes, which would be as bad or worse then the skimpy armor on a battlefield I am sure.

BTW if you like skimpy armor you might like to check out the MMO Tera, the armor in that game is very revealing indeed and all girls in the game ride side saddle on mounts....I thought that part a bit wierd though.

I dunno if fantasy equals no regard for efficiency, TES games have been really good with this in their games. They're fantasy but very realistic at the same time. You can't have an armor revealing your entire belly if you're gonna attack with sword and shield, it's simply idiotic and makes you incredibly easy to kill. I don't think any knight back in the days liked to wear 50kg dresses into fights, it made them very slow- but it was necessary.

So you're asking for the world's fiction to be undermined so that you can make your character look pretty? That's funny because I actually prefer the way lightsabers look to swords and was hoping that they would put those in instead.

Although as a Daedric Prince I don't need any more than this shawl, I prefer my mortal characters to be dressed sensibly. Wear what you'd like, but I really hope I'm not forced to wear the same.

But does it look good on the female form? ---> (answer is NO).

It's like me stepping out in an oversized coat with a woolly jumper underneath and manpants. Just looks crap even if it is that cold or etc.

They looked ok. Some of them were a bit skimpy though.

It can look good. A lady doesnt need to have her briasts halfway hanging out and wearing ass shorts to look good.

Did I say that anyway? I said I prefer it to fit to the female form, so long as it doesn't look tacky etc.

This is a game btw, I'm a female so in my world probably have more say on the female armours than you guys do :intergalactic:
Unless it goes all TERA on us I think this is a silly thing to be worrying about right now.

briast plates, showing of biceps and thighs are fine. I hate bellys however. I think light armour should be more revealing than heavy armour, there should also be erotica armours for people who're into that stuff. Its a fantasy game afterall.

Don't you tell me they all look ugly to you ;)

Besides, old style plate armor can be worn without problems by men and women both, except the woman ahppens to have very big briasts. There generally is a lot of padding between the body and the plates themselves, making both men and women look more masive than they really are.

Guess. Just seems entirely gratuitous to basically have a giant hole in the armour that serves no other purpose than to let you see her chest. Surely there are ways to design armour so that it's clearly feminine without resorting to that...

But if this has been discussed many times I'm sure that's already been mentioned. :)

Not really. As I find myself confronted with loads of skimpy portrayals of women - not only in fantasy, but also in advertisemant, etc - I got overloaded with it. The sixyness has been beaten out of it for me, I can't find any kind of attraction to pseudo-clothed women anymore. Now i can only see the ridiculous aspect of it and it annoys the xuth out of me. Maybe that's only because I as a bisixual always have men to fall back upon (when are they going to start sixualizing them?), while others have to make do with the de-erotification of sixy clothing/armor.

I wanted to see a Bosmer. They showed me a human with huge cleavage.

I can't say I'm disappoined, this is exactly what I expected. I mean, this is the whole point of being a woman, right? Running around half naked so that strong male warriors can drool at your boobs. And I don't even know where I got that ridiculous idea that you'd want to completely cover your torso when going into battle.

I'm female too, and my answer to this question is a resolute "yes".
