So Stupid

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 3:06 pm

Okay so, I'm playing on Novice and am a level 30. I realize as I level up, the enemies level up as well, but the Chaurus are so frustrating and annoying! They are way to hard to kill. My follower keeps dying, I have to load a new save and just because I'm a level thirty doesn't mean Ill be better at killing stuff. Stop making the game so hard. If I wanted it to be like this I would have put it on Master. These were seriously the worst invention Bethesda could come up with. They ruin the game.

I doubt "gay" is the right way to describe the situation...
But I do agree, I can kill a dragon with 5 arrows, yet I have to reload my game several times because of a stupid insect Dx

They don't level scale with you completely O.o
Chaurus are pretty easy for me after I've gotten somewhere.

I think they're fine. I'm most in trouble when they're ganging up on me, but one-on-one I'm the one who owns them. I'm actually happy they provide a challenge, bandits simply go down very easily (as they should, but I want me some challenge in the game too). Plus, they're creepy, especially since my second (but first real eye-to-eye) meeting happened during the lighthouse quest, and I like me some thrill.

Okay, so they're some kind of a stupid insect, but they've been hidden away under the ground along with their falmer friends most of the time, so I think they can be counted to the mysterious creature category. And mysterious creatures need to be badass, otherwise they're not really mysterious anymore.

Their obnoxious poison spit attack can be blocked with a ward since it counts as a magic attack. Shields can't block magic.
And that's how I learned how to defeat Charus.

Anything that resists magic or poison is indeed a great help against chaurus.
My vampire is never bothered with them at all :)

Really?! That sounds kind of ... illogical to me.

But eh, that's okay, I was just about to think wards were pretty much useless unless during a fight with a dragon, but I guess I now found another use for them.

Learn where they are and stay away. Problem solved. You're welcome.

Just carry cure poison potions or some good healing potions and learn to use them. Problem solved. Charus are no more difficult than the higher level Falmer that use poisoned weapons. They're no more difficult than Snow Bears or any of the other more difficult creatures in the game. They also give you fair warning with that noise they make. The bigger ones have gotten the better of me on occasion with a lower level character but why would you want the game so easy that nothing is challening? Learn how to deal with more powerful enemies. That's actually part of the fun of gaming.

Are their melee attacks poisonous, too? I've had quite few occasions where I barely kill the last one and I die 2 seconds later because of the lingering poison damage. They are pretty tough. Very difficult to deal with at early level. I've gotten killed a couple of times at level 40 when I got careless around them.

sixual proclivities aside, chaurus bugs are nasty critters. I still struggle with them unless I can calm them or hit them from a distance with an arrow. It's not until my armor rating is pretty high that I can melee with them. But how hard can they be on Novice? I'd think one or two clunks with an iron pig-sticker should be sufficient. You could probably sneak up behind one and punch it to death at that difficulty level.

novice?... sorry, sorry, but you can kill one in a few hits without any weapons on novice, but on a whole they are the most annoying enemy in the game (cause that spit, damn that spit!!! and the fact that it is border-line impossible to dodge that spit because they are never more than a few feet away at any given time since they all lurk in caves)

I can't do that when I have to go through a very narrow tunnel and they are blocking my way. Problem unsolved.

I'm not sure if the title is towards you or the game... that was a joke... people don't get my humor.

Ok so you need to ask your self some questions, what are you playing on now? difficulty level. What weapons? glass? ebony? steel? are you playing smartly? are you just rushing in and bluntly attacking them? could you enchant your weapon to something else?

don't take your follower then you don't have to worry about them.

that's all the answer i have at this moment. i don't really find the game difficult, you just need to play smartly.

Good luck!

No, I'm sorry. You CAN'T. I play on Expert all the time and I turned it down because of these Chaurus.

Thanks for the advice. I usually play on Expert, but turned it down to Novice because of this. I'm using a Glass Sword. Normal Hide Armor because my health is like 400. And I'm so far into this quest it would be impossible to turn around. I'm in Mzulft.

play your cards right and you can :shifty: but i have to agree they are a bit over the top considering they are supposed to be cattle or pets to the falmer who are actually much weaker than them

acevasco, what was the armor rating for your character you had the trouble with? And what kind of weapons did you use? What was your damage?
