PC System Requirements Will My PC Run Dishonored?

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 6:44 pm

So what does that mean for me when I cover the recommended exactly and don't attack effects like V-Sync or AA and so on? I can run it both smooth and with higher quality?

If your specs match the recommended, it should run smoothly, even with AA. If you disable AA, I imagine the image is not going to look "higher quality." Perhaps there will be an optional FXAA setting, which doesn't look quite as nice as 8xMSAA, but usually provides for much higher frame rate.

Hopefully Koroush Ghazi or someone similar will complete a detailed tweak guide illustrating the performance hit from each of the settings.

On PC the game will let you choose either FXAA or MLAA; up to you to see which one you like best ! ;)

Note: I can hear already people telling that you can force MSAA 16x and Aniso 16x in your GPU control panel, but we do not advise anyone to do so, since when doing so the game has no control over the way these settings will process the picture, which might result in a loss of quality.

The min spec were quite high on purpose, so that people experience a constantly smooth and stable game. Most of the time, the game will run great on lower systems for sure - especially if you give a try to lower display resolutions such as 1280x720 (720p) or 1280x800 - but you may experience framerate drops in some spots, which might end up hurting your gaming experience.

Anyway, I think anybody with at least 2.4 GHz dual core CPU, 2GB RAM and a 8800GT/HD 4670 GPU (or better) can give Dishonored a try on PC!

This is one of those cases where a demo would have been really nice to have. I have 2,4 Ghz dual core, 1GB Geforce 540m and 8GB RAM. I really want to play this game but I'm hesitant to buy it without knowing how well it will run. On one hand my system is far below the minimum requirements, on the other hand I won't run it higher than 720p anyway.

Gah, I really don't know what to do...

Once the game is released, we will try to track benchmarks and performance results on various systems. Not quite sure how the 540m compares with a desktop 8800GT / 4670, but the fact that there are options for weaker cards such as FXAA seems promising. If you want to be 100% certain, the only way would be to wait to confirm what kind performance others are getting with a similar laptop.

I just bit the bullet and bought a new card. I knew I was going to have to buy one when I bought the PC, now I have a good reason. unfortunately, had to upgrade the PSU too, but thank god for new egg. now it's just a waiting game.

I'll try to do some low end benchmarking too. My other computer has a 2.4 core2 duo, 4 gigs of ram and the radeon 6670 I used to have in this PC. when the game comes out I'll install it on there and see how it does.

I'll definitely report on how well Dishonored runs in 1080p on my HD4850 512MB.

I looked it up, the 9800GT seems to be around equally powerful as the HD4850 which I have. So if I can run it at 1920x1080, which I expect I will, hopefully on medium settings, you should be able to run it at 1280x1024.

Well, that's more reassuring mate :). And looking at the comment, I'll have to play dishonored stealthily, and I think I just scored a game that's perfect for both me and my current rig :D

Sorry, but you fall far below the minimum requirements. If you have a console, it would be a safer bet to get a game for that.

My PC will slay this game, unless there are some bad drivers or something. Rome 2 Total War looks like the only upcoming game in the future that will even test my system.

I think I have to buy a better PC to run this game because the one that I got right now can only play Skyrim at minimum setting.

Do you think 4gb RAM and a 2.53 can run it?

If it's a single core and you don't cover the video requirements then I really doubt it.

If you ever plan to upgrade your processor, I'd strongly recommend you go for the intel cores. I have an AMD Bulldozer quad-core which has trouble running certain games (Portal 2 and Risen 2 demo in particular). Especially irritating since no-one knows why, even Valve doesn't know.

ASUS G75VW 17.3" Full HD (1920 x 1080)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M - 2 GB GDDR5 SDRAM
Intel Core i7 (3rd Gen) 3610QM / 2.3 GHz
6GB DDR3 SDRAM, 1600 MHz (2 Empty Slots, so I might consider adding 2 x 4GB DDR3 SDRAM, 1600Mhz) then I will have 14GB DDR3 SDRAM and it would only cost 60 $.)
500GB HD

Can you imagine that Dishonored would be playable on the highest quality with this laptop?
Cus I want an awesome first experience with this game.

Thanks. I'm a bit worried with my graphics target, anyway. It isn't a NVIDIA, it's a ATI RADEON. Do you think I will have problems with that?

My GeForce GTX 260 meets the DX9 and Memory requirements but fails at System Requirements Lab (Can You Run It) due to Required Pixel and Vertex Shader Version 5.0. That version of Shader is a DX11 feature(which the gtx260 is dx9 and shader versions 4.0) so I wonder why DX9 is listed in the reqs.
