I could do without the horns, but other than that... I like it.

If the horns were pointing up, a bandit could just rip it right off your head. Come now - it's a baws looking helmet. You've just seen it all the time.

Couldn't they do that even easier with the horns pointing down? They'd act like handles and have a better grip, rather than their hands slipping off the upwards horns.

Me too actually. :-)

Yeah, the helmet is a hazard due to the down and inward facing horns. Think about it, if an enemy lands a blunt strike to the side of the helmet that horn is going to smash and penetrate right into the side of your skull.

It would be dumb if it had some dragon-like decorations on it.
I know that dragons are main features, but not every single bloody thing should have something dragon related on it.
If you want something more dragon related, then make/buy your own helm made from dragon bone.
Also, the helm looks awesome - simple, yet unique (instead of looking like lot of main-stream over-the-top crap).

I just hope that the helmet doesn't end up being statistically the most awesome badass hat in the game. That would be a shame. :-/

Thats a good point. I agree that not everything should be dragon based. But for the sake of mass marketing, why not dress your poster boy up in late game high end dragon related gear? He looks like he's wearing a cheap trophy cup.

That helmet is just a fad, almost every NPC character wears it, just like those spiffy beaver hats all over London these days.

It's one of the best looking helmets I've seen in an Elder Scroll game. The ones in Oblivion were way to plain, and the better armour (Such as Ebony) Looked to Japanese-ish... I don't know why but it does... And morrowind... I can't even remember what those armours looked like. The Nordic iron helmet looks alot like Skyrims iron helmet... Exept newer.

You're actually required to wear a real-life version of that helmet on your head while playing the game. If you take it off, the game crashes.

I agree with the OP, the helmet is not cool looking at all. BUT, that is the only bad looking thing I've seen in all the screenshots and videos I've looked at.

Imo, the helmet looks like it belongs on a goblin weakling from LOTR. Minus the horns it would have been OK. Or at least they could have made them look more menacing (like full fledged ram horns) and not more dangerous to wearer than an enemy. The only good thing I can say about it is that it is very distinctive and has become a symbol of this soon-to-be-great game.

True that maybe they could've use dragon-bone armor for the trailers.
Maybe they simply thought that this helm will leave biggest impression.

It's cool helmet, but I would be worried about stabbing myself in the shoulders or neck. It could stab my jugular and that wouldn't be good.

It's a standard iron helmet. It's low-level gear. Calm down.

Like i just wrote in the New Vegas forums the other day, i choose my equipment based on how it looks rather than performs, so my characters will have trouble staying in the same province as that helmet :P

Besides, i never use helmets. I play female khajiits, they would mess with their hair and ears ^_^

Haha this reminds me of Half-Life where the scientists would say various random things and sometimes it was "Why do we have to wear these ridiculous ties?"
