Is there any website that sells a laptop for $500 or less that can run Skyrim on minimum settings? Really, I'm looking to spend as little as possible, and $500 is my absolute maximum that I can spend right now. I absolutely cannot go above $500. I'm going to be building a new desktop gaming rig sometime later this year after the Sandy Bridge-E CPUs go down in price.

I'm really just looking for something that has the ability to boot up Skyrim, it doesn't even necessarily have to run it all that well.

Is there a such thing out there?

P.S. Before you guys respond, I know very well what I'm getting into, and I know it would be a better idea to save my money for the rig I plan to build this fall, but I'm really set on finding a cheap laptop for movie watching, web surfing, and that can run Skyrim on absolute minimum settings.

P.P.S. Please refrain from making desktop computer suggestions or telling me that I should save my money instead. I'd just like some help in locating a cheap laptop that has the ability to boot up Skyrim.

I'd be willing to buy something like this:

It doesn't say anything about it's GPU.

Most of them can probably play Morrowind, if that would tide you over until you get a desktop. I'm not sure how well a cheap one would run Skyrim, even on lowest settings.

Oh, I just wrote off the CPU without looking into it, it'll actually get into medium settings with an okish 30 fps, on second lookover.

Ok so my pay check came in and I got a bit of cash, how much would a moderate PC cost me?

I'm not looking for the highest updates but a decent thing that can run mods and such.

Graphics card suggestions etc?

700-900 range?

I'm guessing that it'd be playable. One of the reviewers (of that notebook) claims to be running Skyrim on high, so he/she is probably able to run it at low settings...:P

Yeah, I wrote off the CPU on first glance as being part of AMD's E-series when I saw the clockrate, then I actually read it and realized it's part of their new lineup, so changed my post accordingly :hehe:

Before I actually purchase the thing. Do you guys have any options on this one? It's a little bit out of my price range, but I'd get it if it were worth it. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1306296&Sku=M975-156305#

Could be wrong here, but I've heard those things have woefully inadequate cooling. Not exactly what you want for gaming.

Well just asking for advice and I didn't want to create another thread on something similar.
Sorry for overreacting then. Here's a couple of great laptops I've found in the past hour:

Thanks for the advice. My dad has an HP Dv7t 17" laptop that runs Skyrim on high settings at around 35 fps, and it gets pretty hot after about an hour. The Lenovo has side cooling and doesn't seem to have that problem.

Here's what I meant to link:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834230216

out of stock on newegg, so I googled the model number and thought I'd found the same laptop on Amazon. Which it wasn't lol.

What I'd get is one of the new A-6 or A-8 APUs. They can game just fine. You'd also be ready for Diablo 3.

Newegg doesn't have the best laptop selection, but here's a good starting point to browse through your options.

I bought this one just now. I'm mainly going to use it for Minecraft, YouTube, Facebook, web surfing, and these forums usually. But I also wanted a laptop that also is strong enough to be able to run Skyrim on minimum settings. My current computer is an HP Pavillion 2002 desktop, so I am obviously a console gamer in serious need of change. I was afraid to say it before in case it was against the rules, but I play Skyrim on the Xbox, and I wanted a laptop that could at least run Skyrim, because I like to port my Xbox saves to PC to be able to active different console commands, then port them back to Xbox.

Really I just wanted a cheap temporary replacement for my sickening disgrace of a computer. I'm going to be building a high-end gaming rig late this year within the $2,000 budget. I just don't have the resources to do that right now. But I can't stand using a computer that stutters on YouTube videos and can barely even play 720p video.

I assume you're looking for a laptop? or a decent PC? If you're looking for a decent PC I would try the tech thread. They can usually help you out there pretty well.
