They are still finishing up on Fallout 4.

Skyrim Remaster is coming.

There is your two.

This is thrown around countless of times, I've even seen it stated on Facebook numerous times that Bethesda has hired "hundreds of people" (sic!) after Skyrim....

Particularly since the context of the statement indicates we haven't heard of these 2 projects yet. We know about Fallout 4 development and the Skyrim Remaster, so it has to be something else.

Link to where Todd Howard said they started work on Fallout 4 immediately after FO3? Also, it is mostly the exact same team that did Skyrim that also did FO4, meaning they didn't "gear up" work on FO4 until late 2011, at the earliest.

No I don't see it as a diversion and I see Todd Howard as a human being who doesn't want to work on developing the same video games for the rest of his life he wants his creative freedom.

I'm hoping Starfield is the video game they are developing to release for sale in 2018.

The Elder Scrolls video games needs a huge break.

If they have only one Dev team than that's a problem they have and they should not be taking on 4-5 different titles with one dev team and expect fans of a particular series to be happy with them.

Read above post, if they don't have enough employees than why are they taking on more games than they have employees to put them out within a reasonable time frame.

I don't need instant gratification, we haven't had a new TES game in almost 5 years and we were just told that TES VI hasn't been though of yet and there are 2 more projects ahead of TES VI. if you can't put out a game of your premier series, the one that make you into the company you are, I'm talking about TES, within 5-6 years than you are doing something wrong.

They're doing it right. You're one of the extreme few who are actually getting pissy about it. I'd rather them knock it out of the park then release a buggy game by rushing it like you want them to. Furthermore, you're acting like TES is the only good game they make. I'm extremely interested in seeing their talents in a new IP. Most agree. Majority rules, dude.

Design started in 2009, shortly after Fallout 3 launched, though the majority of the work over those 2 years was towards Skyrim.

2015 interview with one of Bethesda's producers, Jeff Gardiner, stated their team for Fallout 4 was just over 100 people. That's about half the size od CD Projekt Red's team for The Witcher 3.

Todd Howard in that Xbox Scorpio video said he wants to adopt the newest technologies.

By 2023 The Elder Scrolls VI should be the best The Elder Scrolls video game ever to be developed with the latest newest technologies and surpass The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and even Fallout 4 in a massive way.

I've been waiting for that The Elder Scrolls video game after The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in that regard was a huge disappointment, at least the PC version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on PC, with no DirectX 11 support only now with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition.

Bethesda Game Studios has the chance to develop the grandest The Elder Scrolls video game ever right now to be releasing it in 2023 for sale.

Don't you want a grand The Elder Scrolls video game?

Like very huge, lots of RPG gameplay mechanics, and the latest or so graphics?

Mhhhmm they will also ship you the Holy Grail and the Holy Lance for free.....You are aware that newer technology doesn't automatically makes a game better? And considering that I didn't like F4 that much surpassing it won't be that hard...but I doubt that it will, not with the design philosophy they seem to have.Morrowind is still leagues ahead of Skyrim in terms of the representation of the Lore and the MQ

Yes I'm aware that newer technology doesn't automatically make video games better.

I'm hoping Todd Howard uses it for that though for The Elder Scrolls VI.

It has been my dream since after they released for sale The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.

Have you forgot that https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bethesda_Softworks released Battlespire, Redguard, and the Elder Scrolls Travels, between Daggerfall and Morrowind.

Btw... Bethesda Softworks is celebrating their 30th birthday as a commercial company in the gaming industry. :tes:

can't they just hire more?? keep a core team for TES and FO.. don't they have enough budget for more employees? aside from ESO, their games seem to be selling like hotcakes.

For those who missed it, a fairly important exchange by Pete on Twitter.

Some guy: why didn't Todd speak on stage? Oh wait, he was working on Elder Scrolls 6

Pete Hines: because I knew if he stepped on stage you would all expect/assume TES 6 and I didn't want to do that to anyone

SG: the fact that you anticipated that, means it's in the works ;)

PH: no, it isn't.

Don't get me wrong, they obviously have it in pre-production (otherwise Todd's comments about their plans for it would make no sense) but they are signalling clearly and emphatically that this is more than just the normal development wait time, and they're obviously working towards a particular vision with a 'when it's done it's done' approach, rather than just doing the best they can in a given window of time as has been their approach thus far.

After all, despite what some fans seem to imagine, BGS is actually one of the more disciplined developers around when it comes to consistency of releases, especially since Oblivion They do one game at a time, seldom cancel and don't delay as much as most AAA developers do. Their approach to TES VI is clearly a complete break from that routine for them.

I agree with you. Whats the big deal about VR? Sword Art Online showed us it was a bad idea O_O and I'm already Batman so I don't need Arkham VR :|

There you go there's that tweet from Pete Hines I was looking for.

That alone is why The Elder Scrolls VI will be released for sale in 2023.

Right now I want to see what Starfield is in 2018.

Then The Elder Scrolls VI in 2023 I hope is better than The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is and much grander.

2023? Uh, that is 7 more years from now. Does that seem a little much to anyone? And when Bethesda means "a long way off," they usually mean like... a year, maybe... or PAX.

Yeah as I've said before Pete's comments seem to be nothing more than wordplay smokescreens. I will be shocked if TES6 is not announced within the next two years. Skyrim was released in 2011 and it is an absurd amount of time bwtween 2011 and 2023. 13 years wait for a video game? I'd probably not buy it on principle.

Dig deeper into everything and you will see how this "a long ways off" is completely different to all the other years they said it for like Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

How about if Todd Howard wants The Elder Scrolls VI to be the grandest The Elder Scrolls video game to ever be developed?

Would you purchase it then?

At least I'm hoping they make it the grandest The Elder Scrolls video game ever and to surpass The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim at least 10X. From The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was the biggest disappointment for me out of all of the other The Elder Scrolls video games.

Sorry, I'm not convinced. Also, just because a game takes a ludicrous amount of time to develop doesn't guarantee that the game will be good. That's largely subjective any way, as I like Skyrim just fine, and I'm probably going to shell out another however much they want for the PS4 remaster.
