The Elder Scrolls Online - Announcement Trailer

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 5:43 pm

Anyone else kind of feel bummed out by this? Does it mean no more single player TES games?

No it does not mean that.

Team that Develops the single-player games - Bethesda Game Studios
Team that develops the MMO - Zenimax Online Studios

Two different teams owned by the same parent company, each with their own staff, budget and development goals. Neither directly involved with each other, except for perhaps BGS writers being consulted on lore elements. TES VI is safe, and I'm sure we'll see it come out after Fallout IV, whenever that will be...

If Dumbledore is in the game I will definitely buy it.

Trailer was cool, I'm excited.

The first seconds of the trailer was a summary of this disaster: Pegi 12

Time for a familiar old favourite:

The Single Player Elder Scrolls used to be cool. Until it took an ARROW TO THE KNEE. :(
How about this one:

I used to enjoy the Elder Scrolls series unaffected by spinoffs until I took an MMO TO THE HEART

Well, the trailers and lead ins for Oblivion and Skyrim were awesome, but the games themselves svcked. Maybe by having a crappy trailer TESO will be awesome?

They svcked for you maybe. I enjoyed Oblivion immensely, and I am enjoying Skyrim the same way. Granted, Daggerfall was better than Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim, and Arena was better than Daggerfall, horrible 8-bit graphics aside.

If TESO were to give us all of the mechanics available in Arena, plus the mechanics needed for efficient MMO gameplay, I'll be happy.

I'm not affraid of Bethesda Softworks competence on creating a compelling game, but the company marketing area is disgusting.

I'm sure they are already many many millions into this project: ~250 salaries for 5 years + other expenses. It would be tremendously stupid to cancel now because some trolls on youtube are mad.

They're probably going for day 1 sales and go F2P 6-12 months after release.

I really don't believe anyone involved with TESO actually cares about TES. Faction pvp, hotbars and classes already miss the point by miles, let alone the rest of the game (lorelol, random emperor, etc). Either that or the guy who's running the show never wanted to make TESO to begin with but his own version of DaoC 2, which is FAR, FAR, FAR more likely.

I feel bad for Zenimax now sort of, as he tricked them into giving him this project.

Salvation cannot come from one ??? alone, but from many?

Sounds like he is saying Era, not Hero. Maybe it's somesort of temporal hopping deal where you will visit multiple points in the TES timeline?

Is it Era or Hero?

*edit*
I am almost positive he is saying Era, not Hero.

No one else is hearing this as Era? That would change the possibilities...dramatically. And sidestep "canon" rather neatly, as you are dealing with could/might not did/will.
