The Elder Scrolls Online: Ideas for Fan Interview Questions

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 9:03 pm

In a game focused on PvP End Game I doubt, highly doubt you will be able to talk to the other faction or group with them. This would cause too much greifing. You plan out your raid on your enemies and then somebody who trolls in global whispers the enemy? Plans foiled. If people want to do this, they need to purchase a second account to play on opposing factions on one server. To do it for all three you need three accounts and at that point you are paying 45 bucks a month. Not worth it.

Griefing can be handled in other ways. Just off the top of my head, have seperate global channels for PvP and PvE. (I guess they wouldn't be "global", but they could have shared assets- server-wide announcements and GM posts, for example)

I mean, c'mon. Only playing with three races out of nine? That's going to get old, and fast.

They said racial bonuses are in. For perks they said they are meaningful perks that make you a whole other character rather than other game where perks are visual or something not important.
Where did they say the racial bonuses are in? I am pretty sure that is not in the scans at the very least.

Then roll multiple characters on other servers. Guilds do it for plenty of games. Having separate globals doesn't stop me in a PvP global saying something, somebody in PvP reading it, announced it in guild chat, and that person who reads guild chat tells their friends in the opposing factions through group chat or whispers. It just can't happen on a PvP game.

Are you going to stick to the original art styles of provinces we already visited, such as Vvardenfell/Morrowind?

I already have. I did not catch him saying anything about racial abilities. If that is so then awesome. They better be useful...And I better be summoning an Ancestral Ghost that levels with me...

Will there be anything like Realm Points and Realm Abilities for PVP progression?

Is housing maybe an option in an expansion?

The point is that this isn't World of Warcraft where there's a decent number of races on each side. Yes, we can make alts, but that doesn't solve the problem that each party is going to look something like this:
Argonian Fighter, Argonian Mage, Argonian Healer, Argonian Rogue, Dunmer Rogue, Dunmer Mage, Nord Fighter, Nord Fighter.

All I'm saying is that there's zero variety, and it would be nice if Zenimax Online could do something about that.

Why and how did you come up with the decision to use the Ebonheart Pact, the Aldmeri Dominion and the Daggerfall Covenant as the three playable factions, as well as seperate the Imperials entirely?

In choosing the setting for the ES:O, why did you choose the 2nd Era? Why not broaden your reach and go for something earlier in the timeline, perhaps where a bit more lenacy could be given for such an undertaking?

And lastly, why did you choose to serperate the races with each faction?

How will gear-progression be presented? By this I mean if it will be 'traditional' green-blue-purple (*shudder*) or more of a 'custom' modding system like the modifiable (orange) gear like in SWTOR that you can keep on upgrading from start to finish? Personally I am hoping for a system similar to the modifiable gear, as this would add the most diversity in terms of different looks and allow for every piece of gear retaining their function if a player wants to keep on wearing it and upgrading it with better materials and enchantments (instead of seeing everyone in 'epic' Glass and 'epic' Daedric armor at max level or something just because it has the best stats)

Next to that, what made you decide to go with a less immersive third-person perspective, instead of the more immersive first-person perspective that has been the hallmark of all previous Elder Scrolls games?

Also, how big a gameworld are we talking here. Personally I'm hoping for huge landmasses with seamless transition; allowing me to walk all the way from Daggerfall to Mournhold which would take me at least an hour (real time) on foot. I really want to explore Vvardenfell, get lost in it and stumble across ancient Dwemer ruins in a swamp (so basically take the maps from all the previous Elder Scrolls games, add the rest and merge them into one gigantic worldmap!!)

Lastly, how are classes going to be presented? Are we looking at a limited selection of pre-set classes (restricted to certain races) with the basic tank-healer-dps trinity style or will you allow for a system where people can choose their Major and Minor skills or just choose to go with one of the available pre-sets (so a more personal, customized and dynamic approach like in http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Classes where even a Bosmer Archer can keep a giant Minotaur occupied for a while, whilst the Altmer Mage readies his most powerful Destruction spell and the Khajiit Spellsword uses his Restoration magic to heal himself before leaping back into the fray)?

Will quest giving NPCs have question marks over their heads?

Will it feel like a sandbox open world?

Will there be fishing?

The truth is, in a PvP game there is no other way to combat that. Other developers have tried a variety of things durings BETA's and none has ever worked out. Especially if the game is as-advertised. Once one faction is looking like it will take control and win rights for Emperor, people will log into their alts on that side to get the perks and claim to be a part of it.

My fault, just watched again. They speak of unlocking perks, not racial traits. Good question.

Do you plan to have any sandbox elements/allow the players to effect the game world at all outside of the large 100v100v100 BG of Cyrodil?

1. Will we be able to create races in a non-related faction, or be able to defect to another faction? (I think this is a must have. There have always been different races living and fighting in different provinces).

2. Will we be able to play PvE content with other factions?

3. Will we be able to visit the provinces of other factions?

4. Could you please elaborate on the character system? :P

I am not picking on anybody here, just pointing out that there are three or four posts in this thread that ask questions about playing with/defecting to/ other factions. Thread is only two pages long. Do we not, as a community, read threads anymore?

If this thread will indeed be used to supply questions for a fan interview, they will use those questions that get asked the most.

Is the PvP going to have a FFA ruleset, as in can we attack anyone anywhere? After hearing instances will be in game it seems the game is catering to the PvE crowd more then the PvP crowd. If we don't have freedom to attack anyone we see it's a slim chance i an many others i know will play...Heres to hoping we can kill everyone if we choose, i can live with RvR

Will we see Bosmeri eating their dead?

Will Bosmer look like trees as they are supposed to?
