The Elder Scrolls Online: Ideas for Fan Interview Questions

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 11:06 pm

I would like to address that a mod has changed the title to one that I did not approve, in the future I would like to be contacted before such drastic action is taken. The next thread shall be named after the original thread's original name unless a mod contacts me about why it was changed.

The Elder Scrolls Online Unofficial Fan Interview Questions

Hey guys, I personally have a lot of questions to ask the devs of Elder Scrolls Online and I bet a lot of you guys do to.

I am making this thread so that we can have a compiled list of questions for the devs about the game.

Hopefully in the future Bethesda Softworks will announce that there will be a fan interview of some kind like there was for Skyrim, but if not then its still good to have all of our questions in one place.

An important thing about this thread is that it is not a "Why did you ruin Elder Scrolls" thread. We don't know much about the game, and there is no proof that TES has been ruined. If you are not happy about this game then feel free to ask questions, but don't ask ones like that. Basically, "Why" questions are kind of pointless.

For those of you who don't know how this works, just post questions you have about TES online. I will compile the list in the next thread under a spoiler tab. After the GI coverage, I will have a poll for which questions are most important to the fans.

When the new site's forums are up, I will post this there under the same name.

:twirl: Go!

Ahem,'I just would like to ask them why they didn't let Michael Kirkbride work on any of the Lore for the MMO and are they formatting their lore around many of the concepts he created?'

My question would be, already knowing that the Daedric Princes will be present in TESO.

How are the Artifacts of TES lore going to play a part in TESO and could we see them being used slightly like Relics were in Daoc ?

Lore would almost support this as many of the Daedric artifacts were known to have been bounced from person to person throught TES timelines.

Good questions so far.

Are there smaller guilds other than the Fighters and such that are joinable? Things similar to the Buoyant Armigers or Ordinators? Not them perse but things in that vein?

Why does it take only 120 hours to reach your level cap? It takes longer than that in Skyrim and it is a single player game.

Do Argonians and Khajiit have tails and digitigrade legs?

Dear OP, the post is beautifully designed!

Now, my question is the following: Will factions be able to conquer parts of original enemy territory and, if yes, to what extent? Will one faction be able to raid and capture the capital of another? Or will the capital be a kind of safe haven that no one will ever dare to attack?

We can actually answer that one already, given what we have from the GI article. The main goal of PvP, is to capture the Imperial City, and the immediate area, for your faction. I think it's a pretty safe bet that we'll never be launching an offensive on cities in that sense.

It's actually quite sad... That basically means that only contested areas will be Cyrodiil and that doesn't sound all too exciting. I mean, I would love to be able to capture at least parts of enemy territories (castles, farms, lumber-mills).

Remains to be seen how big Cyrodiil is, though. We know there'll be points of interest (like you said - farms, mills) that, once captured, give a bonus to the entire controlling faction. I rather like that the PvP is all taking place in one area. I remember when I used to play WAR, you'd have to constantly travel between the three open PvP lakes. Now, you don't have to spend half an hour just to get into the fight, since everyone who wants to PvP will be in one place.

1. Compare its design direction for the size of areas with that of Lord of the Rings Online. Small "flavor" areas for each Nation or more of the "Mines of Moria" epic approach?

2. How can I get my sandboxy exploration fix in your game, without once using the word compromise.

3. Is there any chance you will relent and give us the choice between first and third person on the fly like most mmos that are built by humans?

Good questions... keep them coming. We'll definitely be answering fan questions at some point.

For now, I'd keep an eye out on the coverage at Game Informer's website.

1.Will bosmer be able to eat enemies they kill? Especially if they kill another player?

2. Will Nords be able to use Thu'um, at least as part of a single class' abilities?

3. Will be able to visit the womb from which Reman Cyrodiil was born? (That is, will be able to visit Sancre Tor?)

Will you ever add first person view as a viable option?

How large is the game world? How large are each territory?

How much input and advice did you get from Bethesda in creating this game?

Will there be a first person view option in this game unlike gw2 and Tera?

Will the factions all be separated in PVE? Also different classes/races for the factions?

Will there be racial bonuses and powers?

What skills will be in the game?

Will perks be for flavor or necessary? By this I mean instead of increasing damage or something will perks do something more unique and fun? Like dealing more crit damage or crit chance?

Will weapons have variable types of damage ala Morrowind? Piercing, Blunt and Slashing plus the standard poison, fire, shock, frost, raw magic etc...etc...

How are artifacts going to be handled? Will they be great prizes that are unique or can everyone get there hands on them? I think Artifacts should be unique but they will disappear from your possession after a certain amount of time in staying with the Lore and how the Artifacts like to 'travel'.

Will we be able to play with people belonging to other factions? That is, is the faction gameplay confined to just during PvP, or will it be like World of Warcraft where PvP is the only option unless we make loads of alt characters for each faction?

Game modes? It is an MMO.

Platforms were already announced. This game will be out in 2013 for PC and Mac.

In a game focused on PvP End Game I doubt, highly doubt you will be able to talk to the other faction or group with them. This would cause too much greifing. You plan out your raid on your enemies and then somebody who trolls in global whispers the enemy? Plans foiled. If people want to do this, they need to purchase a second account to play on opposing factions on one server. To do it for all three you need three accounts and at that point you are paying 45 bucks a month. Not worth it.

PvP Dungeons like Darkness Falls? A must in a game like this.

They said racial bonuses are in. For perks they said they are meaningful perks that make you a whole other character rather than other game where perks are visual or something not important.
