The "Graphics Difference"

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 11:31 am

If you can't see the difference you need your eyes checked lol. low maybe medium is the xbox 360/PS3 quality & the PC is miles ahead in fine detail & shadow effects. Ultra blows it away.

Hmm, not according to the Gamespot marathon thing...one of the people there changed it from low to ultra, and although the difference was clear to him, he said the weren't a huge leap in graphics.

o.O people pay thousands of dollars for that?i barely notice a difference. sigh, love those graphic critics...

Thousands? LOL, who pays thousands for a good gaming rig? Try something more like hundreds, if you know what you are doing and not buying some POS from the store. Ignorant people...

I don't see why people have to gripe. Many console users got the game early, get general ease of use, and don't have to deal with steam. PC users get better graphics--and pay for it. The graphics are clearly better on PC, especially from low to medium. But they're good enough on the console and people should be happy with that.

For Skyrim I'd rather have the developers put time into great gameplay. PC users will mod the graphics. IMO, if PC users get a decent UI and a Creation Kit as good or better than in the past, then BGS has done a good job.

I see the PC graphic experts are out tonight, lol.
The dude playing on PC highest graphics during the 12 hour long game play said low-max setting were barley noticeable. And it's true they are. Unless your unbelievably critical about the most minor stuff, it's very small difference

I'm not sure why some can't see the difference - it's pretty plain to see, but what's nice is that the low pic still looks great. I think I'm in the medium range so happy happy.

You have to expand (little button in the right corner of the picture) the pictures to see the difference.

Look at the big tree in low then in ultra, also the shed as well.

There is a noticeable difference, you would be ignorant to say there isn't. However it's not a gigantic difference and it's actually impressive on Bethesda's part.

Kotaku is looks ridiculous for putting this up, this whole topic of is ridiculous.

Why cant every game use CryEngine 2?

and why cant every game use Euphoria?

why?

WHY

But even if the graphics arent amazing, its still a great game

No, they pay thousands of dollars so that they can brag about it.

"Ultra" isn't really ultra.

Check the neogaf thread ... there are pics of tweaked INI games that look a lot better.

That said - PC FTW, still looks miles better than the sub-HD consoles.

In a year the game will be unrecognizable... looked at modded Oblivion pics.

No, they pay thousands of dollars so that they can brag about it.

I paid $700 for higher FPS, FOV, graphics options, mods... etc.

Drop the jealousy and come back to the real world. Anybody can own a PC, it's pointless to drop $300 on a console at this point.

Is it just me, or does HIGH look a little more clear than ULTRA?

No, they pay thousands of dollars so that they can brag about it.

I built my PC for $850. I get away with less power because I still use a 19" CRT monitor with 1280x1024 resolution. If I had a widescreen it would be a 22" @ 1680x1050 and I would have spent $100 more on a better GPU. Still under $1k.

Anyone who spends more than $1500 on a PC better have 2-3 GPU's in it and a humongous monitor...or they wasted their money, or simply bought an Alienware. Not everyone is an idiot.

You need glasses.

I need glasses too; I can't see much difference; which I don't mind; my machine will probably run just high or medium; I'm ok with what I'm seeing. :brokencomputer:

The thing with PC is everything is CLEAR and it runs like butter.

Skyrim isn't that impressive graphically however, check BF3, modded Crysis 1 / 2, Metro for the epic graphics.

Yeah, you have to take a look at them side by side before you see any 'major' differences. I wouldn't mind playing low at all. I've decided to get it for console, though, so that I won't be compelled to cheat my way through my first play :)

Youll notice the differences more if you know what youre looking for, and unfortunately one of the problems with owning a higher end gaming PC is that you DO notice the differences. Its worse with BF3 having just come out and being a gorgeous game(Im still more a CoD guy, but BF3 looks amazing), its a very recent reminder of what PC games are capable of. Of course everyone needs to remember that it IS a console game, not a PC game.

Hopefully we can focus on the great qualities of the game and get away from the nit picking about graphics....wow factor and all. It really is not at all a matter of being some kind of bizarre amazing super fantasticness..that sort of graphics envy was generated by games that had little else to offer other than super graphics and lots of needless violence.

This is a new Elder Scrolls masterpiece ..a game of content, lore and adventure not just a shooting gallery in which to count the hairs on a flea. So lets move on and discuss the content and the qualities and let go of this trivia. I am very grateful that Bethesda always creates quality games with content, depth and many strengths. not just eye candy..and after it all, i suspect it will be beautiful in a hundred ways we cannot imagine..just as Morrowind and Oblivion were and are still.

Yea, I see that....

I guess I just don't have the mindset of a PC gamer.....where shadows and the texture of moss on trees really make that much of a difference. *shrugs*

To each their own though. =)

Haha, on 360 it doesn't.. but when your face is so close to a screen it's a lot more noticeable. So you might be right.. it might just be a mindset. We're used to noticing details because our noses are practically up against the screen lol. Anywho, enjoy the game tonight/tomorrow! :( I won't be getting it for like a week or two.

As I have said before, the graphics were going to be slightly better... people got all excited thinking there was going to be a night and day difference. There really isn't "much" difference between the different settings. :glare:
