The "Graphics Difference"

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 7:02 pm

As predicted, there's close to no graphical difference in the PC version on any setting. I had to look quite hard to see it at all. http://kotaku.com/5858451/see-the-differences-between-skyrims-four-pc-graphics-settings/gallery/2 that has similar recommended specs to http://elmundotech.files.wordpress.com/2011/10/battlefield-3-mp-maps-_vista_caspian-border-large.jpg and http://www.abload.de/img/13nco5.jpg (Pic made by a modder).

Ohwell, it was predictable and came true. Still, Bethesda, please switch to an engine made by someone else. I know you can just call up John Carmack anytime you want now, but to be a little frank but truthful, that doesn't mean you've got the same skills as he and id do.

Those screens aren't legit.

Here are the REAL shots:

Low: http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/2442/1lowa.jpg
Medium: http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/5051/2mediumo.jpg
High: http://img715.imageshack.us/img715/7079/3high.jpg
Ultra: http://img695.imageshack.us/img695/2090/4ultra.jpg

Notice the detail in the background of each of these.

I see a little difference.....but still, if this is what people are boasting about - I feel sad for them. :sadvaultboy:

It has nothing to do with being a graphics expert. Learn you use tab browsing, open each picture in a new tab, and click through them. If you can't see the night and day difference between these nearly identical shots, especially in the form of texture clarity on the wood building behind the player, the clarity in the ground/trees in the background (and the fact there are shadows), the textures on the tree right behind the player, the shadow near the mill and under the deck, etc...

A five year old could point it out.

There is a difference, but not a game changing difference. The shadows are the main difference. However if I want to be awkward some of the shadows actually hide the details in the ultra?

Wow thanks for posting the real ones. My fps is smooth as butter on high but I have issues with ultra... quite a big hit considering the small difference between the 2. MUCH better than the low setting however.

BUT I want more ambient occulsion...

Still no pictures on how the console ranks in this.

360 probably sits at mid/high.

Calm down, Killer!! Lmao.

The graphics aren't that much better! Get over it!! I don't see why you are having a hissy fit over my personal opinion? I see a slight difference in texture and shading....but nothing I would brag about....or talk down to another person for. You need to learn how to socialize, instead of attacking someone who has a difference of opinion, lol.

And as you can see....I am not the only one who thinks this! =D

Exactly, it;s there, it's just very subtle.

360 is most likely the Low settings, actually.

Look, we all pretty much knew that the modding community was going to have to make the Hi-res texture version for the game. Simply settings aren't going to change the fact that the texture file sizes are very tiny. Trust me, after the modders get a hold of the texture files... you will see a vastly different game graphic-wise.

so the difference is :

low : most textures low res and blurred
medium : the main objects on main fov have a higher texture rest is low res as terrain
high : the terrain gets higher texture
ultra : there are more shadows in distance ...

thats what I coudl see so far anything else?

No really, that screenshot might not do it justice, but the draw distance obviously much better. And the shadows.
