The most beautiful game I've ever played on PS3

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 6:40 am

I was lucky to receive the game a day prior to the release date and was laughing hysterically, excited as I was. I couldn't wait to play the game so i made myself comfortable and started up the game... After playing it for a couple of hours I had to get on here to share this amazing experience with you guys! The game is LITERALLY the most beautiful and amazing game i've ever played on ps3. The graphics and landscapes are way better than those of Oblivion, Fallout 3 and FO NV. I was worried about the graphics especially because no ps3 footage has been released.
But I can assure all ps3 users that Skyrim works perfect on the ps3, with very beautiful graphics. Truly an amazing experience just to go wandering off into the wild, looking up at the mountains surrounded by clouds.

Thank you very much bethesda.

Can you please tell us if you have an elder ps3? Read several places that elder ps3s suffer extreme FPS-drops..

The graphics aren't the BEST, but the world-design is THE best, trust me.

I'm playing on old 80gb PS3. So far no fps drops. Graphics are very nice for an open world game but not the best I've seen on the PS3, but being open world that's to be expected. Shadows are frankly awful, extremely blocky and often have a shimmer/flickering. But again, it's console so I wouldn't expect perfect shadows. Overall it's a step up from Oblivion, but not a massive step.

Eivnor: No I have a ps3 slim. But i couldn't see why it should make a difference.
Sebastian TES: I would have to disagree. I think the graphics are the best I've ever seen on ps3 in my gaming-career ;) Can't think of any games that has a more detailed scenery/world than Skyrim. We do agree that the world design is the best ever made though. I mean, just walking through the woods is truly amazing. I hunted down an elk today, and i had to chase it for a while because I svck at using the bow. Very very awesome.

The best looking open world game, yes. Best graphics ever on PS3? Uncharted would like a word with you.

Yes correction best open world game. But I still find the graphics crazy. The level of details on the armor, weapons and so on. I think I'm so impressed because i feared that it would be kind of like FO new vegas (which I recently started playing again) and I honestly think that the graphics in that game are s h i t :flame: So I was really worried and expected the worst.
But in reality i found that the worst thing about Skyrim is which weapon to choose. And whether or not you want to dual wield. Which i found most satisfying also. The powermove made by holding both L1 and R2 down looks very cool in thrd person.

Yeah, the detail on the armor and weapons is great. And the sky, wow they really hit the nail on the head. Very beautiful ominous cloudy skies and some lovely night skies. My only complaint about the sky is that in the evening when it gets dark you see that 'banding' effect like in Fallout 3 with different shaded bands of light between the horizon and dark night sky. That effect really bugs me. But I guess it's only a minor complaint.

Overall from what I've seen so far the game is beautifully designed, character models are much improved, view distance is great and it's a joy to explore.

Couldn't agree more. That's the thing that annoyed me the most in Fallout 3 too, and even though it is a minor complaint it does ruin the game a little bit because it's so evident. A shame.

And I've really tried to note the things that I don't like about the game from the few cpl hours ive played but right now im not in a state fit to point out the flaws (that surely are in the game).

Bethesda you have bewitched me!!

Frame rates, texture issues, and stuff that they associate with the PS3 but may really be a problem throughout the consoles and potentially the PC.

Didn't experience any freezes or any other problems with the texture or graphics worth mentioning. Did encounter a bandit getting stuck on a stairway though. Well i guess it gave me more time to practice with my bow (which actually requires skill on the console especially with the longer drawing time.
The game lags once in a while when autosaving but you can switch that off
The loading time is nothing compared to oblivion
And about the FPS I didn't notice anything wrong about it. Maybe the ones complaining should buy a new TV with a little more hz :brokencomputer:

Although I can't give an exact number, it looks to my eyes that the framerate is generally smoother than Oblivions.

And let me just say, I wish I could take screenshots because there are some seriously beautiful moments in this game. Sky is just so well done :tes:

This is what the complaints are about. Happens to several elder ps3s.

So, it's not ordinary framerate drops, but it's a terrible.. something.

Not very spolierish really, but.. Meh.

I would really hate that!! The footage looks terrible. I feel bad for the ones who bought Skyrim on older PS3's.
But all I can say is that it doesn't (from what I've seen so far) lag or has any major problems.
