[Video] The Ogrim

Post » Sat Sep 14, 2013 8:07 am

Yeah for the record I do NOT want it to look the way it did in Morrowind, I just wanted it to not look so goofy like a puckering kewpie doll. I wanted it to be scary. Never liked the goofy look of the Ogrim and I'm surprised they managed to make it even goofier.

Would have much preferred something like this: http://theembarrassment.files.wordpress.com/2011/11/ogres.jpg

Or this: http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2012/016/4/c/forest_ogre_by_guzboroda-d4mj5xj.jpg

Or this: http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs37/f/2008/260/3/b/LOTRO__Cave_Troll_by_gorrem.jpg

Now that's an Ogrim, I Love It! A Deadric Sumo Wrestler. I've missed the Ogrim, they knocked my butt all over the place in Morrowind until I was strong enough.

The snout might be a bit over done, I will have to see more in the game.

Rewatch it, but imagine the eyes completely red...no Iris/pupil.

It suddenly becomes exponentially better. I think that would fix it up fine.

The problem is that every single fantasy game has one of those things.
I think it's a high time we get someone doing their own type of fantasy and the creatures in it instead of just blindly following Mr. Tolkiens visions. (Yes, I know they weren't invented by him.)

Every single fantasy game (aside from TES games and maybe the Witcher) has goofy looking creatures too. There's no originality in this no matter how you approach it. It's still an Ogre. The question is, should your Ogre be dumb or scary? I prefer scary but to each their own I suppose.

I sure hope so. I hate it in games how monsters look like the kind of characters I'd like to play as. /biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

I kind of thought the same, a little cartoonish and not as detailed as you'd find in Skyrim. To be expected 'to a point' in an MMO though.

Every single fantasy game? have you ever heard of the gothic series, or maybe a bit more recent dark souls, it might have weird looking monsters but none of them is goofy

What? Morrowind was easily one of the best looking games back in 2003 and oblivions graphics were amazing and daggerfall really wasnt that bad, it had pretty high system req. Skyrim is probably the worst if you compare it to other games released at the same time...

I think It's more a matter of keeping to the Elder Scrolls universe. I've seen and created some really...weird? Well, some interesting concept art, which is quite original.

I'm more than certain that Zenimax has concept artists fully capable of creating creatures MUCH more unique than this...but as I mentioned, I think they simply want to stick to the creatures already in the ES universe.

I think you're misremembering Gothic, there was plenty of goofy stuff in that. As for Dark Souls, that one I'll give you, but I'd also say that it was on the more serious side of Fantasy, just like TES is supposed to be.

Oh I get that, and I'm all about that, but remember what they did with the Land Dreugh? They did an amazing job with that. I just think they missed the mark with this one.

Gothic is much more serious than TES. Oblivion even had a whole expansion for funny crazy ppl. While the only characters i remember being funny in gothic were mud and greg the pirate captain and mud was mostly just [censored]annoying. And ogrim is just perfecr example of goofky creatures in TES games, this one actually looks a bit more serious than the ones in Morrowind, now compare that to something like black trolls in gothic

I have to say I hate it. The body is fine but the face is...cute. Not what I expext from a Daedra that supposedly belings to Malacath. The Daedric Lord of the ugly, ostracized, downtrodden and outcasts.

Really? While neither is perfect, I though this was a major improvement on the Morrowind Ogrim.

I agree that the face on in-game model isn't great, but everything else is great. I love the spiky body. I love that they made the horns smaller (Morrowind horns were over the top.) I love love love the jiggly belly.

And like others have said, the face on the concept art is fine. They just need to tweak the model slightly. If they thinned out those lips, narrowed the eyes a bit, and gave a slight downward turn to the corners of his mouth, everything would be perfect.

I personally prefer this new model to morrowinds, it is abit more realistic as far as shape is concerned. However I do agree a less happy face should be made or even animated would be nice. But As far as the textures on the model..they are fantastic. Very clean and well designed and are very high definition.

The model itself is well done. However, the face is indeed too happy. It reminds me a bit of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNR4hKbSH7I
