A I the only who enjoys playing a vampire?

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 8:38 pm

My new Vampire Lestat has been dead and loving it since yesterday! Still pretty low level, but i'm having a lot of fun sneaking around and feasting at night. The only problem I have so far is that my Breton now looks like he put on too much self tan. He still looks cool, though, kind of like a Sith or something.

i think it is said in one of the wikis that the skin gets a sunburned look if you travel during the day without a hood or something. vampires would be half way decent if bethesda would just add a few physical bonuses such weapon skills and an enhanced sprint speed. etc

Nah, he's been tanned ever since he turned. I read up on the wiki that Imperials and Bretons have their skin colors jacked up as vamps. Vampires are actually pretty sweet if you know how to play one. They aren't gods, but they aren't meant to be. They won't fit every player's style, but i'm enjoying it so far.

In the Anne Rice novels, Akasha turned a golden-suntanned color when she was pulled out into the sun while sleeping. Being the first vampire, she was so powerful that she was immune to sunlight. All the lesser generations of vampires burst into flames, however, across the world, when this ocurred. The TES is probably a reference to that.

I know how to handle vampires in this game, its easy actually but there is hardly any bonuses to them, just sneak and illusion.
No one is asking to be gods which is what some people think we want. no we just want vampires, simple good old fashioned vampires not undead humans with nice eyes and a little buff with illusion, its seem all our complaints keep getting mis-translated to " we want vampires to be unkillable gods with enormous powers" when what we are saying is "bring on the weaknesses but give us some decent bonuses to balance it out" its been said in nearly every vampire thread that we want it to be balanced but other people say that is asking too much and that it would be like being overpowered gods, obviously they need glasses.

Calm down Mort, heh. I get it, i'm just not enough of a vampire person to worry about their bonuses too much. If they want vamps to be the way they are, fine with me (though Morrowind super jumping was fun). Get me started on their take on the new Thieves guild or Lockpicking, though...

I was surprised by their laziness with regards to vampirism. I'm not sure how i was surprised though, because after looking back on a video interview when Todd revealed that vampires would be in the game, he actually describes the Oblivion system quite blatantly,

The factions this time around also seemed watered down. i miss the old stat page that shows your ranks and infamy etc.
oh i was calm, just angry at bethesda for recycling on old mechanic.

werewolves are powerful but try going up against a Volkihar Master Vampire lol if you don't land the first hit then you won't land the last. actually due to a patch screw up, the werewolf has no armour value at all.

I think I'm going to try being a vampire (mainly because I'm running out of new things to do in the game).

well you will be disappointed, the weaknesses are fine and easy to manage, its the lack of enhancements that make playing as vampires not worth the burden. if you are going to be a vamp, try getting the necromage perk.

Yea, the "work" you have to do is go outside at night and command a companion to sleep in a bed and feed off them..
for the rewards i'd say it's pretty damn good.

The best time is when you,

1) Never Feed - Play the entire game as a Stage 4 Vampire, 90% of the game is hostile towards you anyway.
2) Master Illusion - Use the gift the Vampire is given as you will need it to do quests
3) Master Conjuration - Lead your Dead Thralls

EDIT : I was in a hurry...there are others

4) Master Sneak - You will need to be very sneaky

It wasn't until my 250 hr level 60 Vampire that I realized you can still do quests and how interesting it would be to play as a Stage 4. I restarted a new char and played her to level 60ish.

256 days passed
253 days as a vampire
Necks bitten was never on the list. You must bite at least one to even have it listed. I used the Cannibal perk to actually GAIN power from feeding. It works like a
vamp ... um, champ.

Can you provide the name of the DB quest you coudn't advance please? Ive played vampires for now 3rd character and none had any DB issue, and DB is my favourite faction so I always complete that first.

I had a lot of fun playing as a vampire. I really don't understand how people are having huge issues getting to level 4 without realizing it. Part of playing a vampire is needing to feed on blood. Typically if I got to stage 2 I would head back towards civilization so I could feed. I would also also feed anytime I arrived at a city.

It's the quest "To Kill an Empire? The part where you go to Solitude to poison the Emperor. The chef will greet you then just end dialogue. I cured myself and everything worked fine.

Until there's real content for it I don't see the point, all it does is inconvenience you.

Vampires aren't really worth it, plus I'm no fan of Oblivion vampires.

Vampires that can walk in the sun?

Vampires that grow stronger by not feeding?

Vampires that can only feed on sleeping humanoids specifically, no exception?

Vampires that can be identified (if you're starved)?

I'd prefer if you:

- Had to feed simply NOT to die. Bonus stats for being a vampire (HP, melee damage & speed/sneak) remain the same for as long as you're a vampire. They are also considerably stronger, to make being a vampire actually worthwhile.

- That you could feed in any way you wanted, both on live and freshly killed victims(not necessarily killing the victim either, so you could use your companion/slave as a blood bank, or just spare the person because you felt pity on them, or brutally eviscerate them because you didn't :>),

- Never be able to walk in daylight. Ever. Just ruins the whole feel of being a vampire.
(Not saying it should be insta death, but you should take damage for being in the sun so you'd get a chance to hide)

- More resistant to physical damage(but always as vulnerable to fire damage)

- Only identifiably by proffessional vampire hunters.

I will not play as a vampire in skyrim, cause my char is a Khajit.
I know there is a book ingame about different vampire clans across Tamriel, but i don't remeber Elywer to have one.
Khajit are allready beast, so being a vampire doesnt seem interesting.

Or through a failed feeding attempt e.g. spotted feeding by another person, victim wrestles free and runs around shouting "vampire, vampire!"
