A I the only who enjoys playing a vampire?

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 8:44 pm

Let me begin by saying that, for the last two years, I've played a heavily modded Oblivion and alot of the mods were vampire mods such as CDM's Vampirism, LTD, and the Controversial Unholy Darkness. I love them all. They made playing a vampire awesome.....but yet I still like being a vampire in this game, especiall with shadow warrior perk. And thank you Bethesda for removing the face morph that was in Oblivion that made your char look old. That was really my only complaint in Oblivion about vampires.

I recently ran into a glitch with the DB that wouldn't allow you to go any further with the quest if you were a vampire. So what did I do? I put the quest on hold for like a month, maybe longer(game time) because I didn't want to cure myself. When I found I could cure myself and get "infected" again I dropped everything I was doing to get cured, finished that DB quest then immediately fast travelled to a vampire cave, got "infected(I can't see how it's an infection, but maybe it's because I'm such a huge vampire fan)...and waited 3 days....THEN proceeded with the DB

Vampires are just so awesome. I just wish we could feed like we could in LTD's Vampirism instead of sleeping victims only, but that's only a minor complaint. I'm also a big Anne Rice fan. I owe countless vampire books and novels. And stalking Skyrim as a vampire is fun..even if it can't live up to some of Oblivion's vampire mods.

I'm not saying the vampirism system is perfect, because it isn't. Bethesda should have consulted madmole or LTD. But I like it the way it is.

I'm currently at a 121 days a vampire. One of the first things I did when I first created this character was become a vampire. I was like level 4. I'm level 35 now

I didn't like being a werewolf as much. I was killed too easily and my one handed was 20, which if I remember correctly detrrmines your attack effectiveness. Plus you didn't remain in wolf form for long.......and haven't you watched "Underworld"? Vampires rule! With my assassin/thief/vampire I can clear out a whole bandit hideout out in one night without so much as taking a hit.

Yeah, vampires are cool, but I have to say that I'm a werewolf at heart.

I am also a big Anne Rice fan, I've read all the books, great series.

I do agree that being a vampire could be considered more effort than it's worth, but I getting used to the play style. It definitely helps that I'm a thief though. I'm wondering if being a vampire is still feasible as, say, a warrior?

Anyway, werewolves are cool, I just don't use the transformation ever. All I'm getting is no rested XP, so if it's a choice between nothing and vampire, I'm gonna go vampire.

Is it a hassle having to do all your exploring at night?

I had a lot of fun playing a vampire in this game, I just let another of my characters develop it. For me my top requests would probably be having the ability to sneak up behind someone and stealth-kill them by feeding, and having a hardcoe mode that switched over from requiring food to requiring blood if you became a vampire (can't wait for the CK to come out so I can make one.)

I enjoy playing them as well even unmodded. There still are vampire face bugs this go around but they aren't as noticable. I have about 3/4 year in-game. I just like playing monster type characters more.

As for mods I know of one that lets you feed on the fly. http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4407 I haven't tried it myself. If you want to turn your followers look at the one I did http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5625.

I must say that I think vampire/werewolf hybrid on underworld looked hella cool! nothing more awesome then to have both powers :)

Just wait until you see vampire and werewolf finishing moves I have planned, and lore inspired Volkihar vampires instead of a necromancer named "Volkihar vampire", I think you'll quickly retract the second sentence :)

I mean, I'm glad you like the vanilla ones, but it needs a major overhaul worse than the greetings system.

Awww, hey madmole, hugsss!! I knew you would be working on a vampire mod sooner of later, and I can't wait. But first I have to upgrade my PC so please don't tease me :(

Do you have any plans on expanding the Oblivion version? I haven't been to your site since Skyrim's release.

I hope the hugs wasn't to much. It's just my way of showing gratitude for what you accomplished with Unholy Darkness...and yes I'm a girl if that matters.

Vampire don't provide enough advantage, but i'm one anyway, just because my char don't want to age. (in a roleplaying way, the gameplay don't make char age), So my char have to "live" with that, but at high level, the disadvantage are not big either.

It's really good to know that you are planing a vampire mod for Skyrim, madmole. Just a couple of days ago I reinstalled Oblivion just so I could play Unholy Darkness.

I like to be vampire, sometimes it's a pain in the rear, for example I want to do a quest but my vampire level goes up in the process (fast traveling alot), hence most of the times I fast travel to a city and BANG *lvl 4 achived*. Angry people throwing stuff at me and whatnot.

It's nice really, for role playing purposes even better.

I love vampire, the first thing I did with my Imperial "Edward" was to get infected. Now I just need a mod that makes me sparkle.

I tried the Werewolf thing and didn't like it. Vamps on the other hand are the bomb. The Necromage perk, from the Restoration tree, buffs out the Vamp by increasing the effects/duration of other spells or enchanted equipment worn by the Vamp.

I was playing a Vamp char and doing all the normal feeding and what have you. I restarted a new char after 52 levels. This time I contracted the disease as soon as possible. I played that character for 150 hrs, level 56, 205 days passed, 202 days as a Vampire and zero necks bitten. You can play through the game as a stage 4 Vamp, without ever feeding. It adds a whole new level of strategy and fun. I loved it so much I just started another one.

I'm not familiar with the glitch mentioned in the OP. I have had no problems with any questline so far. You just have to make use of your Illusion spells. It does indeed prompt some very funny moments. The Companions took on the entire town of Whiterun in my defense. Hell, Lydia even killed the Court Wizard and three guards. Once you become a member of a guild they will fight for you to the death.

I've got a vampire build planned because i'd really like to try one out, but it seems like i'm going out of my way just to make one fun. I've named all my first toons Lestat, ever since morrowind, and I've got a werewolf named Lucien De Lioncourt. Hopefully I can make my new Vamp Lestat De Lioncourt exciting enough to stick with!

Here's my Vampire idea, in case anyone else wanted to have a look at it:

Class: Thief/Assassin/Illusionist
Race: Breton (Others may try Dark Elf for fire resist, or High Elf for the extra magicka due to no regen in daylight.)
Perks: http://skyrimcalculator.com/#60455
Other: I might put some more points into resto later, but this build will take me to lvl 46 so i'm not too worried about it atm. Also, i'll be wearing no armor, just enchanted clothes. I'm planning on being a smooth talker by day(I might even put some points towards being a merchant?), and a thieving assassin by night.

It is easy to be a vampire during day, you need two perk:

- Recovery so you can regen your mana in daylight anyway
- Respite so the mana you regen can be used for life and stamina recovery during daylight

Now you can even fight two dragon at same time in broad daylight.

I find the fast and long sprint the best part of being a werewolf. I usually go out alone without a horse, makes those trips a bit better.
