Hi guys.
I guess DiD has always been my playstyle. I can't bear to have my character, who I'm very attached to, die during the course of her adventures. So, I suppose it's time to throw my hat into the ring and officially join the DiD adventure!
My character is a mysterious young Breton by the name of Sarah. She woke up sitting on the back of a horse-drawn wagon and has no memory of who she is, where she came from, or how she got there. She knows only her name... Sarah.
Her adventure in Skyrim began last night, after many re-rolls and restarts in the attempt to perfect her appearance, which I've finally done. The first chapter of her story was an interesting one indeed, as when the chapter began she had just awoken and for some reason was ordered to be executed by the Imperials, despite having no ties, alleged or otherwise, to the rebels and thieves she was riding with on the wagon. When last night's chapter concluded she had discovered some of her abilities, as well as an affinity for magic and smithing, and had recovered important artifacts from Bleak Falls Barrow, encountering a strange and mysterious monument at the heart of the ruins. She could feel the monument calling out to her, the same way that
Spoiler the mysterious dragon had called out to her when it attacked Helgen and saved her mere seconds before the headsman's axe would have been brought down on her head.
Being drawn towards it, she approached it and felt a strange surge within her very soul as some of the strange markings on the monument became intelligible and formed into a word she could clearly understand -- Fus!
Now she is relaxing at the Sleeping Giant Inn while I widdle my day away at work, Level 7. She learned a lot yesterday and learned a good lesson about using caution during combat as she was brought to roughly 1/3 of her health when she was pinned against a column by the first group of Draugr she encountered in the barrow. Quickly grabbing a potion that she kept handy and available in her belt, she healed and dispatched her assailants, learning the values of the lesson they had taught her. She also learned the value of using Alchemy as a tradeskill to earn some much needed coin, as she found that upon returning the Golden Claw to the trader in Riverwood, he was all to happy to purchase the potions she had brewed while learning the first step of the trade.
Tonight she will finish her business in Riverwood and return to Whiterun, where she will turn in the artifact she was tasked to find. She will try to learn the secret behind the Mystery of Bleak Falls Barrow and try to find her place in this strange new world. She feels compelled to help those in need and despite being a Breton, has a natural talent with Blades, Shields, and Heavy Armor. She also has a gift for Restoration, partly fueled by her Breton blood, and when she thinks about the role she's meant to play in this world, one single, mysterious word pops into her mind...
Paladin!
Tonight will be very fulfilling indeed...
So here's a question for you guys -- how do you feel about potions during your DiD playthrough? I know, "There is only ONE rule..."

But do you feel cheap when quaffing them during a fight? I try to RP it by saying she keeps them handy on her belt for easy access and she knows how to chug. Also, since there are some abilities and perks that slow down time in this game, I guess she's naturally able to slow down time while grabbing her pots. But how do YOU guys feel about using them? Is there any "official" DiD stance about them?
I'm playing on Adept. I enjoy having occasional challenges and good epic fights but want to feel uber-powerful and god-like eventually, and of course, don't want to always be at risk of dying during fights. I plan on trying out this mysterious "Overpowered trifecta of Smithing, Enchanting, and Alchemy" as I want to see what the hype is about. The bit I've played through the story so far before restarting, I've had a difficult time with a lot of fights, even though it's on Adept. I want to know what being truly Overpowered is like... lol. Especially with Sarah.
Other than that, she likes her little Wolf companion that she started the game with (Familiar) and in addition to the Paladin skills and Tradeskills, will likely delve into Conjuration (NO NECROMANCY!!! lol) and also Archery as she enjoys the bow as her ranged defense mechanism.
So these will be the main skills that I work on and try to max -- One-Handed, Block, Heavy Armor, Restoration, Smithing, Enchanting, Alchemy, and if possible Archery and Conjuration and MAYBE Two-Handed if skills allow.... I certainly enjoy stick and a board (one-handed with shield) more than 2H combat.
So that's my story! Looking forward to your input.
