Spreading Awareness, for anything. The second someone claims they are 'spreading awareness' for a cause, i cease to take them seriously.
90% of the people spreading awareness arent even fund raising to help said cause. They're just spreading awareness of the cause, it doesnt necessarily mean that they are trying to cure it but people just assume they have a lab of 20 scientists working around the clock using all the money that goes towards the cause and are trying to cure it.
Like for example Bono, his not-for profit foundation collected like 30 million dollars and they only gave away 260, 000 of that towards what they said they're helping. And when asked about why they only gave that away and why the rest went towards administration costs, he said along the lines of "well we are just spreading awareness about the cause...".
Or the briast cancer foundation. Last year i was reading a thing of richest CEOs in north america, and the briast cancer chick was 21st richest CEO in north america.
Now dont get me wrong, cancer of any kind is a terrible thing, and any money actually going towards that mythical lab of 20 scientists working around the clock on a cure is a good thing and should keep on happening.
But when the CEO of the not for profit foundation that is supposed to be just taking this money to use towards actually curing the cancer is the 21st richest CEO in north america, then there is something seriously wrong.
I mean as the CEO doing all the work, yeah you should get paid for it and be able to live comfortably, but 21st richest CEO of the richest continent is living way more comfortably then any not for profit person should be.
And the briast cancer foundation keeps claiming that they are spreading awareness, so their administration costs are high. Well i think now EVERYBODY in north america is quite aware of briast cancer now. Maybe you guys should stop spreading awareness now, and actually start working on finding a cure. With all that extra money they have now, they can seriously employ every freakin docter in north america to work on a cure if they feel like it, but they cant because their administration costs.
So personally i support the cause for finding a cure, but i cant support the briast cancer foundation specifically. Im going to have to find other ways to help out i guess, like maybe going directly to the labs that the briast cancer foundation fund, and donate directly to them without the middle man.
