Those movies.

OT: But seriously I don't think I have watched any movies that have SCARED me. Most just jumped out and startled me but never scared me.

It's not about being scared, though, it's just about being weirded out. Fine difference.

Ahhh I see. I thought Grease was weird and creepy when I rewatched it. I was thinking WHY DID MY PARENTS LET ME WATCH THIS?! Legit.

Was it because of those tights? It was the tights wasn't it?

I have seen all of A Clockwork Orange and it might just be the most disturbing movie I have ever seen, either that or the House of Usher.

Sunshine was an incredibly good cerebral movie, I was completely surprised when I saw it. The original Psycho really surprised me with how pulse pounding it can get. Donnie Darko has been mentioned, but I feel it has to be mentioned again. I have a vague feeling that it has something to do with dreams and time travel. Memento really impressed me and when we watched it in my grade 12 Film Studies class, I was the only student who completely understood it.

Actually goodfellas was quite creepy but really funny. Something about a man as little and with as high a voice as Joe Pesci get angry and shoot someone just invokes those emotions in me.

Someone mentioned Labyrinth and that reminded me of Pan's Labyrinth. Not space related at all but definitely creepy in parts. If you don't know anything about this film don't Google it or look for images. There's one character that I swear gets everyone the first time they see him.

I found that film extremely boring, but everyone else loved it.

I loved this movie so much and I know exactly which character you mean. It was the creepiest thing I have seen since the rabbit from Donnie Darko.

Don't understand David Lynch stuff. Guess I'm not hip enough, but really... His movies just annoy me. Give me Lars von movies any day, though.

Pan's Labyrinth is pretty cool, but it's one of those movies you have to be in the right mood to watch. Like, it has to be a lazy, overcast, humid, really hot summer day or something, where the only release from one's misery would be rain, but it's too hot for it to come.
In short, I imagine myself with a mint julip and a sunhat every time I think of it. Don't know why. May just be its milieu.

How is David Lynch in any way related to A Clockwork Orange?

The 1982 version is one of the other most disturbing movie I have ever seen. Brilliant film though.

I don't know. I must have had an aneurysm. Blame the booze! drugs! rock and roll! Actually, I watched Mulholland Drive with the gf a few days ago and was talking to her while I was replying here. Probably that.

Stanley Kubrick, I mean.

Full Metal Jacket and Eraserhead -- I like those. Have never seen Twin Peaks, so I can't comment.

Audition (Takashi Miike) and Antichrist (actually all of Lars von Triers movies are a bit freaky) come to mind - as well as the afore mentioned David Lynch and his movies.

One of those species movies had a alien come out of the stomach of a prosttute that some guy just had six with.

Yeah, I told the guy who turned on that movie to get that crap out of my VCR,

Speaking of Stanley Kubrick. I think his The Shining is much inferior to the TV miniseries. The casting was all wrong. Jack Nicholson is full on crazy, always. There's no progression there.

I thought all the [blank] Movie movies after Scary Movie 2 were bizarre, because someone actually thought they were worth making.

Pan's Labyrinth is pretty cool, but it's one of those movies you have to be in the right mood to watch. Like, it has to be a lazy, overcast, humid, really hot summer day or something, where the only release from one's misery would be rain, but it's too hot for it to come.

It's also the kind of movie you can't just show to someone and expect a positive response. Too artsy for that. Someone has to actively seek it out on their own to appreciate it, if they're shown it they won't know what it's supposed to be.

I think all good space/horror movies are listed, I think.

Pandorum. Not disturbing but I liked it.

For bizarre stuff, I recommend Possession, it has the Jurassic Park guy.

Cronenberg already mentioned. Ridley Scott too. I add John Carpenter. Roman Polanski is disturbing, Kubrick is disturbing, David Lynch is disturbing. I also add Alfred Hitchcock. Lars von Trier and his Riget, I was mesmerized. Great directors.

Also mixed movies I enjoyed and found disturbing:

Jacob's Ladder
The Cell
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)

The Man Who Fell to Earth
Brazil
The Silence of the Lambs
The Descent
Return of the Living Dead III

I have a weak spot for Elm Street, Chucky and Final Destination movies.

Shutter Island, a little safe but not bad at all. Black Swan was well-done. Orphan was good. Splice was disturbing but it was weakly put together. Drag Me to Hell was equally disturbing and funny.

I like The Uninvited and The Skeleton Key from recent history, nice twists too.

Jeepers Creepers, 1 and 2

Perfume: The Story of a Murderer

Tideland
Primal Fear
The Others
Se7en
The Machinist
Below (2002)

Stephen King and Clive Barker have some good movie adaptations.

I think Haute Tension is worth a look. It is gory but different, it has a nice twist too.

From TV: Millennium, Carnivàle and Dexter. - and Six Feet Under.

For generic horror:
Timber Falls was brilliant because it was comedic. Eden Lake, I can't remember much but it wasn't too bad. I think I should watch it again, I forgot to rate it.

These low budget, limited space movies are worth watching.
Wind Chill. It could be good, it had the potential. But I liked the acting. I knew Emily Blunt only as a name before but I gotta a tell you, she is good.
Altitude (2010) They kept the tension and mystery throughout the movie. Acting was good but characters were kinda annoying.
Frozen (2010) Somewhat realistic. Acting was good but characters were stupid.

Now worst:
Tamara 2005 (Funny story, this was labeled as Final Destination in my friends collection. I watched this for a good 20 minutes arguing myself "what kind of final destination movie is this?")
Intermedio 2005
The Blair Witch Project (Nothing to see here, move along.)
The Descent: Part 2
Captivity

Awful:
Paranormal Activity
The Haunting
Beneath
The Cave
Saw III
Locusts: The 8th Plague

bad:
Piranha (2010)
Saw
Resident Evil: Extinction
Final Destination 2 (No suspense)
Cube

Phew, that was long.

CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST

seriously though, Delicatessen might qualify to this. Seeing what movies have been brought up here, some of you would probably think it's creepy. I'd rather describe it as nasty though, but in a subtle way.
