So what's your list?

:yucky: Iceland is beautiful on the outside but ugly and shallow on the inside. At least when it comes to a good majority of the older generations here, the older you grow to be here the more you notice just how racist people born before about 1970 are. Granted that is a blanket statement of its own but really, going by the people I know I'm ashamed of the middle age generations and the people all the way up to my elders. So if you do come I'd just mingle with the youth :P, not to say there aren't middle aged or older people who aren't racist to the bone but they are rather the minority than the majority from my experience living here.

The nature here is really great though :D albeit it can get a little cold.

As for my own list of countries I'd like to visit...

1. Norway
2. Japan
3. England
4. New Zealand
5. The Netherlands

I'll stay in Canada. But I will travel to other places in Canada. I’ve traveled across boarders enough.

In no particular order: Poland, Russia, Iceland, at least one Scandinavian country (you're all so amazing I can't decide on just one ), Ireland. I'd like to chuck Switzerland in too, but I'm not sure who it'd bump off the list .

Poland 'cause a recent chunk of the family tree was from there, and it would be interesting as a place that not only geographically, but also culturally in between Western and Eastern Europe.

Russia would be stunning to see from one side to the other, due to the sheer quantity of land and peoples it encompasses .

Iceland looks cool and sounds like it would provide lots of opportunities for adventurous adventures.

Scandinavians seem to have a lot of things worked out a lot better than most other places, and I'd like to visit and see what their countries are like. There's also plenty to see and do in each nation, but I figured I'd give a less common reason to go there .

Ireland is at the end of my eloquence -not that there was any to start with- so I'm having trouble articulating the reasons. But it caught my eye many years ago, so I'll try to drop by if I get a chance.

EDIT: Perhaps I should mention that I live in/grew up in Australia, to give a little more of and idea of where I'm coming from.

Really? That's a shame. I've always heard Icelandic people were nice. What would they think of an Aussie?

Is it better in the summer or winter?

Is English widely spoken?

Germany
France
Australia

I travel a lot between Finland, Sweden and Norway and it's getting pretty boring. Hell, I could drive from Rovaniemi to Narvik with my eyes closed (not recommended though). I want to see the West. Much more interesting than all these lakes and mountains.

I guess for the time being I'd like to see a bit more of Europe before travelling further afield: I'm not very adventurous sometimes! I guess...

Sweden
Finland
Belgium
Germany
Switzerland

That'll probably be enough to keep me going for a while!

Japan
USA

and..

uhh...

Austria and Hungary were both on my list but I spent last Christmas in Hungary with a short trip to Austria.

EDIT: Oh, oh, oh! North Korea! That's where I want to go. It's like taking a time machine and traveling 70 years back in time. Also, lots of nice ladies in army uniforms.

Well as I mentioned it's mostly just the older folk who seem to have some big hatred for foreigners I just can't understand. English is pretty widely spoken though, I'd say about everyone from the age of 10 - 40 is sure to speak it and only very rare individuals from the age of 41+ don't speak it. So I wouldn't worry about language, you can get by on English just fine here. But what would they think of an Aussie ? No different from others I'd say, in some peoples minds you're here to steal their jobs and 5 minutes later they will be telling some kid to move to Norway to have a better chance at getting a job, and the irony would be totally lost on them.

As for summer and winter it's quite popular to visit Iceland over new years for the fireworks (it's allowed to shoot fireworks anywhere in the city really and anyone above a certain age can shoot fireworks so it's just a huge cluster of fireworks everywhere). But of course it's a bit cold, the summers here are really nice though, not too hot and not too cold, and most people tend to come here over summer to see some of the better known natural marbels here. Over all I'd say the summer was better but that's just because I really dislike cold :P

Czech Republic
France (though I've been other places loads, but never with my girlfriend)
Sweden
Norway
Finland

We have a thing for Scandinavia...

Wales

For many different reasons though... mostly food and culture. lol
May I ask why ? I live here, maybe its different up north, maybe I am just surrounded by horrible places. But its not a great place.

Japan (I imagine it looks nice and quite different to other places. Also their culture seems interesting I suppose)
Norway/Sweden I want to see the aurora
Poland (no idea why, I assume it looks nice I guess)
America (I want to see the national parks, nothing else has my attention)
China is a maybe, some places look realy nice. But I wouldnt visit unless there were big changes.
Also a maybe is Italy, I would love to visit their cathedrals (not religious, just like the looks) but I hate hot weather.

I've been to Llandudno and it was lovely. There was this one mountain we went to and it was so windy that if you lean in the direction of the wind, you can't fall down even if you try. Pretty cool place if you ask me. Worth a visit.

West Wales is very nice, it's such a beautiful place. North is..well...North
There are a lot worse places than South Wales too.

Same applies to anywhere, there's bad places and good places.

Iceland is the only place I'm really aching to visit at some point. I might even go as far as to say I'd want to settle down there in the future. Suppose I would also like to see Alaska in the US, Argentina and Japan but they come at a distant second.

I live in the south. Maybe my close proximity to Merthyr has effected my view. But culturaly we are dead, people are [censored]s, and there are no beautiful places to see.

I wouldnt mind visiting the north, just to walk a few places.

Its a great lesson, despite being insane, even their leader can get a few things right.
