TweakGuides' Skyrim tweak guide by Koroush Ghazi

Post » Fri May 25, 2012 5:23 pm

All of his guides are always long because he is tyring to appeal to a broad audience. Just skip pass all the noob [censored] and go straight to "advanced tweaking" in his guides and that's where all the meat is.
Except that most of his guides on Geforce.com lack much meat. They either lack a lot of details about tweaks or refer you to other guides for previous games in the series (See Fallout: New Vegas for instance).

Its a nice guide actually. Very little there I didn't know from reading here and other places but its got just about every tweak I have read about so far and explained in an easy to understand format with comparisons. If I have to re-install the game I will just head there to get the tweaks.

No, I get it too. I have no idea why some people can see the guide while others can't

It's definitely up guys. It's been up since the first of December, when I first saw it. But anyway, his guides have helped me through oblivion, fallout 3 and new vegas. I hope he continues to make them for future Bethestha games and others.

It was down earlier, then it was up, then its down again now. I dont know what the hell is going on over at Nvidia but it seems like theyre having server problems on top of whatever is preventing Koroush from posting it on his site.

Theres no earth shattering tweaks in the guide, we know pretty much every tweak he mentions, but its nice to see actual explanations on what the different settings are instead of people just copy/pasting the same stuff and saying "its better if you do this". Plus tons of comparison screens.

Its down again for me right now, just check http://www.geforce.com/Optimize/Guides/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-tweak-guide every once in a while.

I'm looking at it right now, right here: http://www.geforce.com/Optimize/Guides/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-tweak-guide

No idea why getting this thing posted for everyone to see has been so damned difficult, though.

In case it goes down again. I've copied the guide and made it into a PDF file for reference. It's not perfect, but it does the job ;) You can grab it below.

Skyrim Tweak Guide
7 December 2011

My Skyrim Tweak Guide has finally been officially released at GeForce.com. It provides all the setting descriptions, performance charts and key advanced tweaks in one location. There's also a new feature in the form of interactive and animated screenshot comparisons to better highlight image quality differences.

http://tweakguides.com/

EDIT: Now it is a blank guide again.

Good guide as usual, and I understand that he has to make money (we all do). That being said he used to prepare guides that were really useful to all regardless of their chosen system and in particular video cards. I really don't want this to turn into a my card is better debate, just saying his guides used to be non biased and useful for all.

He also screwed his community by shutting down his forums. People looking for help and whatnot.

Ask him how he feels about the 300 movie, lol you'll love it.

Agreed about his forums, they were once the best place to go to--but he didn't want to moderate them and noone was 'elite' enough to be allowed to assist.

As for The 300---it really did send him over the edge---it was hilarious to read (and quite sad actually). Get over it Koroush--it's a hollywood extravaganza--and as every historical movie hollywood makes-- 100% accurate (not)--get over it.

Update: It appears the site is still glitching for some people. I have informed Nvidia about this as it is outside my direct control. Please be patient and it should hopefully be fixed shortly. I have made it clear to Nvidia that I will not be doing any further guides until the delays and site issues are addressed.

Now the guide is super duper perfectly working!
(hopefully)

What is interesting though, it seems disabling radial blur (by adding the line as he suggested) makes Skyrim CTD when opening the map.

Shame though, as I just do not like radial blur :( At least there is a 'low' option in the launcher...

The guy is a bag of vinegar and water feminine hygiene product. The forums at TweakGuides were utterly lacking in personality, unless you were an android programmed by Herr Koroush Ghazi to kiss butts and fondle balls.

Get over yourself, you ignoramus.

How do you enable AF for ATI cards? I really can't find a way in the Catalyst Control center... :/
Using RadeonPRO doesn't work!

total waste of 10 minutes.

thats not a tweak guide, its some guy who played around with his own rig and tells us nothing about tweaking the game settings.

its filled with total idiotic lines like > "Radial Blur Quality: This setting controls the degree to which the radial blur effect occurs"

There is a section about sound where 'volume' affects the volume.

i laughed loud at the parts where he states [with graphs] that a higher AA and resolution drops the fps :celebrate:

He's useful as a frame of reference to work off of. Good or bad. Mixed. Better him being a guinea pig instead of me. ;)

I don't think he's the last word on the subject but I can thank him for at least showing me the addition to the .ini file to actually make the map look great and be useful. The guide was worth it to me just for that alone.
