How do you enable AF for ATI cards? I really can't find a way in the Catalyst Control center... :/
Using RadeonPRO doesn't work!

Gaming->3D Application Settings -> untick Anisotropic Filtering "Use application settings"

Thanks, but it is the same one discussed here.

Maybe merge this with Gstaff's thread? (Since this one is just 4 pages so far)

I too was a bit disappointed with the lack of depth in the guide, compared to what he usually puts out (look at the OB guide). Perhaps being paid by NVidia has him on a shorter leash, where fringe tweaks aren't allowed to be included.

Personally, I found the screen comparisons very useful for things like shadow quality, etc. I also found the slider information useful.

total waste of 10 minutes.

thats not a tweak guide, its some guy who played around with his own rig and tells us nothing about tweaking the game settings.

its filled with total idiotic lines like > "Radial Blur Quality: This setting controls the degree to which the radial blur effect occurs"

I respectfully disagree that this guide is a waste of time. The interactive and animated screenshots are very effective is seeing the actual difference the settings make in the visuals. It is very hard to do this otherwise. Take the radial blur quality setting as the example you quoted. You can tweak it to the three options all you want, but without the screenshots, it would be hard to tell the difference it made. I also like the bar graphs, because it is obvious to most that higher settings drop performance, but it is hard to tell which settings drop it the most, and which don't. If you have a maxed out rig with the highest end video card available today running in SLI, you don't need this guide. Just max out all settings and call it a day. For us mere mortals, we have to chose which settings to take higher and what it will affect in terms of visual quality and performance.

Doesn't that force it for EVERY game? I don't want to force 16AF for my other games :P

Oh noooo!....

The tweak guide points folks to a general optimization guide for Windows, and in that PDF it covers.... gasp..... Component STRESS Tools to make sure your hardware is actually stable and operating correctly.

Wonder if all the people that took a [censored] all over http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1303107-extreme-component-testing-cpu-ram-gpu/page__view__findpost__p__19611751 are going to have another brain aneurysm at being told that maybe it's a good idea to test their equipment for proper operation before they make assumptions that something else (like a piece of software) is the only cause or the root cause.

Anyhoo...

Honestly, I or anyone else couldn't of said it better.

I'm adding this to the OP!

I was going back through threads and did a quick check on this one. Needless to say I was surprised when I entered and saw the modified thread opening..

Everyone is just trying to help everyone else in the end.

Hopefully the community at-large(all of us) combined will help make it a better experience, regardless of what the problems actually are. There is no magic bullet because there is such a variety of problems. All we can do is try and isolate small pieces at a time, but the more that get knocked out, the easier it is to reach a stable experience.

Peace! :foodndrink:
