Unofficial "Can My PC Run Skyrim?" Thread

Post » Wed Jul 20, 2011 11:11 pm

My specs are.

Phenom quad core 9950 (2.6ghz) black edition
Radeon HD4870x2 1gb
4gb DDR2 ram
Windows 7 Home Edition 64bit

I hope I can get a good high level settings/framerate ratio

Quoting my original post.

When I eventually get around to upgrading which part should I focus on first? I just want some oppinions if thats ok, I was thinking of outright replacing my old motherboard, CPU and RAM while keeping the graphics card (it's a good card and still serves me well).

This is my motherboard btw http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM2Plus/M3A78T/ Nothing to shout about anymore as its only DDR2 and AM2+

Everything you've got is good enough for Skyrim on high settings on 1080p I'd say. For future games you may want to improve your CPU and GPU, but I'd say your set for a while.

We need to know your processor's specific name and what resolution you plan to use.

I'd say you'll be running it at high settings with 900p, maybe even max.

yeah thats what i was thinking, it runs all the games ive thrown at it rather well on highest settings, and can also be safely overclocked with little temp increase. I guess we'll only know when the games released and some benchmarks have been set.

CPU: Intel i5 2410M 2.3GHz - 2.9GHz
GPU: Radeon HD 6770M

Any thoughts?

Save the money from liquid cooling and buy an i7-based rig instead.
