Dangnabbit, am I the only one torqued off over the lack of beast race representation here?

It's come to the point where, as a Khajiit, if someone calls me, "Cat", I kill him (or beat the crap out of him, if I can't kill him) and pay the bounty. It's beginning to really tick me off, especially since I own land in Skyrim. I'd love to have a Khajiiti steward instead of some Mer or Man idjit.

Yes, I know, it's a Nord/racist land, but for the love of little green dragons, Bethy, show some frackin' love for the beast races for a change, will ya?

No, you're not the only one. Getting tired of this crap.

If I've told you once, I've told you a thousand times -- you aren't being intentionally marginalized. They couldn't get the Khajiit male voice actor back.

God forbid that he has other projects he'd rather be doing. Or perhaps he hated the voice acting experience and is crying under his bed for having to play a six-foot cat man. Maybe he didn't like the pay. Maybe he's sick. Maybe he's too far away to come on short notice.

But you can bet your ass that no developer actually sat there and thought "let's exclude Khajiit from becoming stewards, just to piss xcrimsonlegendx off".

God! If that were the case, then Bethesda also hates accented Nord women and brutish men.

I don't care, you don't need to follow me around and remind me of why you're right and why I'm wrong. I'm entitled to be disappointed, this is the internet, no amount of your infallible logic is going to make me give a damn as to WHY or make me suddenly think it's not a big deal. It doesn't matter if it was intentional or not, it svcks and that's all there is to it.

Aela became my steward but won't stay in the house. She just goes back to the companions HQ. It might be because she's waiting for me to kill a tiger for some side mission. Can't figure it out. She'll buy me stuff, but she won't go to the house.

I have to agree about the Khajiit being left out.... There's only 2 you can use as followers & you can't marry any Khajiit, or use them as Housecarls / Stewards for the new houses.

I don't really care if it's a "voice actor" prob, & they have to bring in new voice actors to make new characters, re-dub the current ones & realese a patch, or have the voice change when the Khajiit speaks new dialog (which I could live with at this point).

I'm a nord female, & I wanted to marry the Khajiit, Kharjo. Not able to do that, I tried to make him my Housecarl / Steward. No go.
Tried on my other character, a Khajiit female... same thing. No marriage, no Housecarl / Steward. :ermm:

Along with the Argonians & Wood Elves (who have few or no characters that can be married or used in the new houses as well), I think the Khajiit should be included in all these things, if for no other reason then keeping the game in balance. If you can play as it, you should be able to marry it / use it in your house.

I also think it would be cool to have a bad a** lookin Tiger Khajiit in Daedric Armor, prowling around my house & property, keeping it safe. :lmao:

Confirmed to work: Rayya
As the Thane of Falkreath, the first time you visit the Jarl's Longhouse there after the Hearthfire update, you will meet Rayya. After she talks to you, she will go to Lakeview Manor(if you own it that is).

In my quest to find a new steward who was not a housecarl and not a companion I ended up making Annekke Crag Jumper steward of Heljarchen Hall, I saved it first in case this does not work out. Quickly ordered my home improvements and the entryway furnished as she promptly walked off the property. Not sure I want a grotty miner around the place as it is, and going for a long walk who knows where is not making me like her any better. While taking all this fresh air and exercise she better be magically furnishing that room. :ermm:

Edit
Gave up on the idea and settled for Lydia.

Argis would not for my second character, there was no dialogue at all for him to be steward, but maybe that was just her bad luck, she could not marry him either.

Ok, this is a little frustrating, I went back to an early saved game to see if I could have Marcurio as steward, but I'm not getting any dialogue option from him at all for stewardship. He's been with me throughout the entire home-building process, but nothing. I've tried dismissing and rehiring him. Still nothing.

For those for whom Marcurio has worked, was there a specific process you had to go through?

Solved it, I went back (again) and did the building process without him, and the steward's dialogue option came up fine after. I'm guessing the steward's dialogue in the previous game must have somehow been interrupted before by one of the many random attacks on the property, causing the option to be lost forever.

It seems a common bug, you could reload a save game and get one less chicken, seems your steward sometime mistakes your bard for a chicken. usually you can get three chickens and a bard, but sometimes that can go wrong. I managed four chickens once and lost the bard option, some only got two or three and lost the bard option. I would try for two, get the bard and then the third chicken.

So what happens to your normal housecarl if you appoint another as the steward? Do they still hang around?

One of the wikis pointed out there were bugs related to hired followers (mercenaries) being steward, so that would explain the variation of responses with Erik the Slayer and Marcurio.

Lastly, if you're not happy with the lack of Beast race characters, that's what the creation kit is for.
