We are actually using the tekkit address for the FTB server anyway. Why, I don't really know.

Ah right. It's just I noticed the tekkit dynmap still seemed to be on, I wondered if it should be turned off.

No, Mirglof assures me the lighting update will halve the framerate.

Still, we get quartz right? Will we have to renew the nether?

I have been using Sphax for a long time now and never got Lag before. All of a sudden I get completely unplayable lag. I have been using the x128. Any Ideas as to what could be causing this?

I installed optifine and it helped for like 10 seconds then it went back to being laggy again.

Quartz will never make up for a drop in FPS, no new ore will and I like my ores :brokencomputer:

Just your connection, unless you're doing SP. Else maybe you're PC can't handle the high pixel count, or the new features in the TP are crippling it

Mirglof has decided to keep the current one.

until the plugins are up to date. and the fps drop should not be as bad since they did place an option in the video settings to turn off (or turn down) the new lighting engine so that people with lower system settings are not hit as hard. They also changed the way clouds had been working in the 1.5 snapshots (the clouds were transparent) and returned them to normal so peoples fps should not be reduced too terribly. certainly not half, but we'll see. personally i didn't notice any decrease when i updated on my alt launcher.

This update had the 3D drops didn't it? If so hopefully they're linked to the 'Fancy'/'Fast' options and can be turned off. I play with almost everything off, besides particles which I have at decreased

actually it was the last update that had 3d drops, however they were linked to fancy graphics. they did not cause decrease in fps as far as i could tell.

personally i haven't experienced much if any decrease in fps for 1.5

Well that's not too bad then. I've not bothered updating since the server isn't up to date.

Because we totally never saw it coming, new snapshot.

  • [https://mojang.atlassian.net/browse/MC-250] Ender Dragon can still grief stuff like cobblestone and chests even if the gamerule mobGriefing is set on false.
  • [https://mojang.atlassian.net/browse/MC-1794] White stitching on polygon edges / White lines or black dots between blocks
  • [https://mojang.atlassian.net/browse/MC-4577] Unable to combine enchanted books for a higher level enchant.
  • [https://mojang.atlassian.net/browse/MC-8193] Hopper doesn't try to place items from other slots if unable from first.
  • [https://mojang.atlassian.net/browse/MC-8943] Fire doesn't show on 8 layered snow and hopper
  • [https://mojang.atlassian.net/browse/MC-11089] Long scoreboard objective titles can be offset screen
  • [https://mojang.atlassian.net/browse/MC-11109] Breaking a Container with Items that is connected via a solid block with a Comparator does not update the Comparator
  • [https://mojang.atlassian.net/browse/MC-11217] Falling Block entities start visually falling from 1 block higher than they were placed
  • [https://mojang.atlassian.net/browse/MC-11236] Paintings popping out / cannot place new ones
  • … and a few Minecraft Realms changes
Good that the line bug has been fixed, but that hopper change probably broke a lot of the autosorting systems...

In case you guys haven't seen it yet, Mojang released a visualization of Minecraft's development using https://code.google.com/p/gource/.

They also did the same for Scrolls.

Well yeah, but nobody wants to play on blocky non-smooth lighting. If worst come to worst I'll just lower the view distance from normal +48 to Normal +32.

no, they added a setting in between smooth and non-ambient occlusion. or at least they did at some point in the snapshots idk if they altered that for the actual update. Lego probably would know as he seems to keep closer tabs on that stuff.
