Not really sure how to make a link, but here's the URL: http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/CyberPower_Z77_Configurator/
That is the website I've been using to build my pc. I've heard mixed reviews about that site, if you have any recommendations for a different one that would be welcome as well.

EDIT: oh, so that's how you make a link, just copy the URL... lol I feel smart now
Well i dont live in the USA so i cant recommend you a site, but if you do insist on using that site to build your pc and dont want to spend more money get the radeon HD 7770 instead, its cheaper and more powerful than the GTX 650

Ah sorry about that, I started out just seeing how my configuration would work and things just kind of went from there, but I think I've gotten what I need, so I'll stop cluttering up the thread now :) And thanks for the recommendation arctic, the feedback's been very helpful :)

Thanks a lot! But yeah, I have quite a bit of money coming into my pocket very soon and I was looking to upgrade to a machine which could do me well with most AAA games, as well as using it when I make games on my uni course. If it runs well on ultra, then I have no worries spending that amount of money on it. :)

Need a new PC and have been looking at NewEgg. This one seems to have everything I want, but it's out of stock:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229387

I can't find anything else like this on the site, mainly the vid card, processor, etc. Is there anywhere else that sells systems like this that's trust worthy?

Thanks.

EDIT: This looks nice? Opinions?

Why not settle for this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229388

Can you justify for a i7-3770? If you're just gaming, those extra threads are not really going to net you much benefit.

BTW, there is a separate thread for these types of questions:
http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1430631-the-community-tech-thread-no-123/

This thread is mainly for those wondering how their present system will run the game...not so much a system builders or PC suggesting thread.

I really don't know a whole lot about the differences between a 3rd Gen i5 and a 3rd Gen i7, other than I can assume a i7 is better than a i5.

Seems whenever I try to use a pre-made thread I am always in the wrong one. When I make a thread of my own some always tells me to go to one of the pre-made threads. I just give up, but thanks for the link.

I prefer Intel chips (i5 or i7) as they seem to be better for gaming and GeForce cards since they seem to be more updated with their drivers.

Hi I'm interested in getting skyrim and I'm wondering if you guys could recommend some upgrades I could make with a $100 budget? I'm mainly looking for a videocard, unless you think I should look for something else.

Here are my pc specs:

Win XP SP3
Intel Core 2 Duo 3.0 GHZ E8400
4 GB RAM
ASUS EN9600GSO TOP 384 MB Videocard
Echo Audiofire4 soundcard
Antec Basiq 550W
Samsung 206BW 20" LCD monitor 1680x1050 resolution screen.

I know I was recommended a card a while ago when I asked in another hardware recommendation thread, but I'm wondering if you guys have other advice?

What do you guys think about this card: EVGA GTX 650 1GB for $99: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130827

Ok, here is some specs of what I'm wanting to buy. How well do you think it will do?

Windows 8 (64 bit)
3rd Gen Intel Core i7-3770 processor
16GB DDR3 SDRAM
500GB Serial ATA II Hard Drive (7200 rpm)
GeForce NVIDIA GTX 660 (2GB)
Monitor is 1920x1080

My main concerns are Windows 8. Most complaints I've seen on this system have been about how hard Windows 8 is to learn. I'm not sure it's really gamer friendly, but it's about impossible to get Windows 7 anymore.

Wanted to get a NVIDIA GTX 660 ti, but I'm not sure the few frames per second faster is worth the $100 difference.

The hardware is fine.

The issue with Windows 8 is that it wasn't really designed with actual computers in mind. It was designed more for the mobile space and, as a result, is extremely cumbersome to actually use in practice.

I am pretty new in the computer building game and know next to nothing about computer hardware, but can anyone tell me what the ideal specs are to be able to run Skyrim on MAXIMUM settings, and then a little bit extra just in case? And I guess really, what is the minimum I can expect to spend on this kind of rig?

I wouldn't call it "hard to learn" as much as I'd call it a PITA to operate on an actual computer; simple things like shutting down or putting your machine to sleep are now needlessly more involved. I'm thinking very hard about rolling my rig back to Win 7 - of course, that would require me to acknowledge that I pretty much threw away the 40 bucks it cost me to "upgrade" to 8.

Given Intel's traditional lack of interest in game players' needs, you can expect any game to look poor, and exhibit numerous fits and starts in animation. Real graphics from real companies with a serious interest in games are what this game demands, and there is no official support for Intel's smoke and mirrors gimmicky Tinker Toy video.

Would Skyrim run decently on ULTRA settings with these specs:

AMD-FX-8120 3,1G,
8 DDR3 RAM,
GTX550 Ti 1536GB?

Or would it be a lot better if I go with Radeon HD7770 1GB and leave processor and HD the same?

Your processor is more than fine. It's your lack of a video card (Intel Integrated Chipset is what you've got) that is making your system poor overall. Your PC does have a PCI-E x16 slot available though, so a video card would do some justice here.

Keep in mind however, your power supply is probably only a 300W standard unit so depending on budget and what card you get, you may need to upgrade the power supply as well.

I'd say high settings rather than ultra. The 7770 would probably get you ultra.

that's not really worth it then....the 7770 is not 70 euros better than the 550Ti to be honest.
