Wasteland 2: Thread 5 "Ripping Clips!"

Yeah. Chris says in the video (right before starting combat with the insects) that the player can initiate a perception check for a possibility for additional info about the enemy and a the cone to appear.

I must be the only one who didn't have any issues with it. I liked everything Chris showed.

That gameplay. I regret not funding this when it was up on Kickstarter.

You're not, though. I have some reservations about the topic based dialog as written lines would be more clear and better illustrate a flowing conversation, but it's not really an issue. I liked what I saw very much. Like Gizmo said, it's almost like dream come true.

Combat, looks cool.

Graphics, nice.

Atmosphere, awesome.

Customizable interface, great. Six-skill toolbar seems a little small, though.

Dialogue, meh. Don't care for keyword systems. Ah well, can't win 'em all.

Overall, October's going to be a good month.

People will complain about anything these days.

People mad about a rotatable camera?

If those are the tops complaints, it sounds like an awesome game coming together.

Agreed, but... That fly's cone should be more like 270°, than 30°.

That's for sure.

For a good effect, each enemy type should have their cones adjusted for what would seem appropriate to them (wider-narrower, longer-shorter, mobile-static, etc).

I'm sure as the game development progresses that'll change.

After they explained more about the dialogue system I'm getting excited about Wasteland again.
That we'll get a line of text for the rangers is great, even if it is bland, and those who want their characters to say something else can type in the keyword in the text box with their own sentences. And the reactivity from the keywords from one NPC is shocking, even if we can't get branching dialogue in the conventional sense this is most definitely still branching in it's own interesting way. I really look forward to it.

I wasn't much concerned with the keyword thing. It's how Wasteland 1 did it and you didn't get huge dialogue trees nor sentences there either. I was more concerned that they were going to lock the camera to one angle. I'm glad they explained how the camera works. I'm really excited for the freedom of movement with it.

Choice quotes:

'Followed by a decently lengthy description of weaponclasses and their usability.

+ More fanmade stuff from the unity asset store.

Good and informative read after a long time of silence.

Yeah, I read through most of the update last night. Haven't had the time to actually sit down and look through all of the links yet though. Definitely an awesome update after such a long time without hearing a peep.

Same here. I just finally got to watching the gameplay video from a few months back. Very impressed, even with the things that one could consider to be minor, like the distinction between lock picking and safe cracking. And being a fan of text in my RPGs, I'm loving the information given about your current environment.

Everything looks so perfect, but now I have to wait. Dead State is also on my wait list. Xenonauts coming out soon, will have to hold me over. To the https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUXljzapIQMto contemplate how awesome these games are going to be.

I'm not positive [haven't looked]; but generally the higher tiers include what's listed in the ones below them.

*drool*

Never has an inventory made me want to use an inventory so much. You don't see that level of care and detail these days. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=wHN7QTcuqI4

Also small sneak peak of a new zone at night, love it. Love it and I love the photos of the town made of fallen airplanes.
