Mosin-Nagant is my favorite rifle. I like it waaay better that the Garand

The Finnish M28, M28/30, or M39 versions of it are good (I shot a M28/30 and it was deadly accurate), but I never ran across a straight Russian version that shot all that well. And I hate the way the front bands get loose when you shoot more than five rounds.

Awwww. That was a good article too. Cracked is one one of my favorite sites. They censored your link out of linkiness by cutting off a chunk of the title with a "[censored]" box.

Just say what letter that censored one starts with and I'll probably guess it.

It starts with a P. Just put Rambo and the P word in the search bar and it should net you the article as top result.

Bump. Anyone have any idea if the R91 is back? I could have sworn I saw one on the back of a Super Mutant in a gameplay vid. It would be a real shame if we couldn't build our own Perforator now that there are weapons mods.

Well, I'm excited and happy that the Gauss Rifle is making a come-back, but I'm kinda disappointed it's still the one from 3. Hopefully it won't be some damn buggy this time around.

Anyone else feel the same?

I also ponder this at nights, but I think the new M16 variant is replacing it sadly. Sure the mutant wasn't just a place holder?

I do hope the assault rifle R91 returns though.

Hmm, well it seems right now that that M16 looking gun might be a semi-auto civilian model. There's still hope yet.

I think the M16 looking one may be something that the NCR produces or its a M199 Backtalker. The R91 was its replacement so its possible that the military units in the area had not yet made the conversion over.

That's true, IIRC the R91 was the main combat rifle of the army at the time. The reason it was so prevalent in DC was because Martial Law had been declared and there was a massive national guard presence in the area, who were all equipped with frontline quality weaponry in anticipation of major riots.

Other areas might have older, less standardized weaponry in their arsenals, like the AK-112, the Backtalker, or whatever these guns are.
It would be cool to see the AK-112 come back, especially with some more backstory.

I liked the AK but the only way to have it in large amounts canonically will be to have some sort of Chinese presence similar to D.C. I'm really hoping that there will be much more reason to use all the different guns because the biggest issue I have with FO3 is that once the AK comes into play the R91 is tactically useless. Its the same with .32 pistol and Chinese pistol except they are useless the entire game.

I don't think anything has been said about the old combats return but if you haven't seen the riot shotgun, I think its a more than respectable replacement.

That's not true. I once threw a chinese pistol at a wastelander long enough to kill him. It took a long time, but it can be done.

BTW does anybody want to start the speculation about the new laser rifle from the latest interview? I mean, we can almost see the whole barrel and everything.

heard of it, haven′t seen a screen for it, thanks

tho I must say I′m disappointed it doesn′t seam to be modelled after the http://www.wolfarmouries.co.uk/airsoft/bb/bin/image-lib/products/WM1897T.jpg, a perfect candidate for a Fallout Shotgun.

oh well at least I get my pump action boomstick.

No it seems to look more like another Browning design, the Ithica 37. Close sided receiver and all. Scratch that. Just looked closer at the pic. Open on the right like any generic pumpy.

wits saddens me, the M1897 has a very distinct design compared to other later pump action shotguns, whos design is so minor unless your a gun nerd they all look the same after that.

Yeah. See I edited my post after a closer look. Someone mentioned it looked like an Ithica, and I didn't do my homework.

It does look like the http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s185/Diomedia/Ithaca37S-1-1.jpg, uncannily so actually. (Except for a few minor differences.) :tops:

Take a closer look at the pic of the gun on the wiki. It clearly shows the ejected shell flying out of the right side of the gun and you can see the breechblock in the open ejection port on the right side of the receiver. The Ithica 37 was novel in that it had a solid sided receiver and the weapon was both loaded and spent shells ejected downward from the same opening in the bottom of the frame. http://www.google.com/patents?vid=1143170.

Edit: Also, being drum fed from the bottom would preclude it from being any of the bottom ejecting designs Browning/Pedersen spawned.

The ejection port being on the right side of the gun was the minor difference that I was speaking of when I said that the Riot Shotgun looks similar to the Ithaca 37. :tops:

Well, I'll give you that. The general lines look much like a 37, but then again almost all pumps today generally look like that. Specifically, the treatment of the magazine tube and how it extends past the mounting flange under the barrel does indeed look quite like the Ithica. I've got tons of books in the garage on shotguns. I'll flip through a few with tonight's cigar and see If there are any others with substantial similarities.

If I remember, though, didn't Josh say that this was a amalgam design, just a little of this, a little of that?
