Werewolf: The Ponies of Death - Aftermath

Do the Deceased Soul and Restless Spirit get to send as many messages as they wish or is it a one and done kind of thing.

Speaking of resources and organization of things, here's http://heynish.com/warg/index.php I've been working on. It's still very much in development, but it could be useful to hosts and players. I intend to use it next time I host, at any rate, and I'm happy to work with any upcoming hosts to get it to suit their needs.

That's awesome Woolly. Makes it easier to organize all characters in one space and a lot nicer on the eyes to read. I feel like you've used that before in a game?

That is indeed a very nice idea Woolly. Really beats having to ask for a vote count every couple pages or scrolling up constantly when cross-referencing evidence.

I've tried doing something similar back when I proposed the 'Quickie' game, so that people could fabricate an abridged profile really fast. I kinda let it fester and fizzle. It didn't have any voting or sorting abilities, it was just a web tool for character creation and display. I prefer your way somewhat - though I'm unsure whether it'll integrate well with parallel daily discussions.

I was thinkin' one, but if they want to send multiple messages to the same person I would not have any problem with that.

I'm not sure when I can host next, so it's up to each individual host how they wish to use it.

Okay so let me rewrite that. I'll use my terms.

Deceased Soul: All players without a role when dead can depart and leave a message. The exception is the werewolves. Only their Restless Spirit can do this.
Restless Spirit: Can leave a message to either the Archwolf or one of the Speakers of the Dead.
Speaker of the Dead: Can recieve messages from the deceased. When he dies due to his connection with the afterlife he can send up to three messages to any remaining Speakers of the Dead.

This would allow for multiple speakers of the dead. The host can either say the dead pick where the message goes, or randomize it. I'm in favour of randomizing it, because at this point it's a pretty useful utility for the innocents to use.

That could work.

Since we are actively discussing new roles, I came up with a different kind of assassin class that I already posted in dead lounge, but I'll post it here too:

Reckless Hunter:
Once in a game, the reckless hunter can choose to attempt an assassination of any player, with a PM to the host. If he targets anyone who isn't a werewolf, he will die on his own trap and the targeted person will not die. (a person tainted by evil counts as a non-werewolf, meaning the reckless hunter would kill himself by targeting a person who is tainted by evil). If he targets a normal wolf, he kills the wolf without dying himself. If he targets the arch-wolf, the reckless hunter will die, but the archwolf won't die.

What do you think? :)

still wondering what people though about the game: if one wants to know about a new idea for a werewolf game, here's my link: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1332161-infected-the-tainted-city-sign-up/page__p__20041750#entry20041750

It's a new idea in that instead of werewolves, we have infected super-zombie humans who can disguise themselves as normal humans. I can change it into werewolves if anyone likes.

Note that if anyone finds me too inexperienced to host a game, my link contains the entire sign-up thread so if anyone likes my idea, they can use my link to already have the sign-up ready made.

I already gave my thoughts, too inexperienced. Play with us in a few games and I'll reconsider it.

No. If the person gets lucky the role becomes extremely unbalanced.

My concern is that the zombie aspect would make it too much of a different game. Werewolf is only allowed on these forums because it was grandfathered in, a new game would be closed.

We tend to require hosts to have at least four games of experience before their first attempt.

Yeah I guess so. Luck does mean this role could get a free wolf-kill nearly instantly.

Well if the zombie thing is too much, it can easily be edited in that the disease turns people into werewolves instead of zombies. In addition, if I'm too inexperienced, I can allow someone to take control of my theme. The sign-up is already made so if somebody would like to host a game, the thread is already made. Furthermore, if the zombies were edited into werewolves, would that be a viable theme if someone experienced were hosting?

It might work if the Hunter dies with the wolf. That way, no matter who you target, you always die. Like a kamikaze. :flamed:

Snip

What I would suggest, is that if you really wanna host, hold onto your game for a bit, play with us, get the exp under your belt and then host.

I think I will. I've seen some games and thought it would be easy but seeing the werewolf wikia makes it seem a bit harder than I thought. I'll join the next game but if someone wants to use my idea, I'll allow them.

Trust us, if you play a few games with us and get the hang of things it will be much more enjoyable for everyone once w eknow you have a firm grasp of the rules. There can be a lot of unforseen consequences running a game. I had the misfortune to lose all of my werewolf players from day one. They just didn't post. I kind of panicked how to handle it. So it requires some finess unless you get lucky and have a perfectly run game. Which I think might be impossible given all the variables.

I'm not ready yet, but put me down on the list for the vague future. I'm not exactly sure when that will be, but sometime. I have to refine the mechanics in my head a little more. Then again I was also considering hosting a basic werewolf game just to gain a little bit of experience hosting. Then next time I can try all the crazy ideas I wanted. It all depends. Also can someone message me a link to the deadlounge?

Hmm. What say the others? Balanced or "a terrible role no-one wants and even if they do, they'd never use the ability?"

I'll probably host sometime in March, which is admittedly not useful to the rest of us at the moment. I just have to consolidate all the different ideas I have into a single cohesive game and toss the concepts that don't work... I always seem to want to try a half-dozen different ideas at the same time, and that just won't work. Pick and choose, E, pick and choose.

As others have stated, I don't really like the idea of giving a single innocent a free kill, even once and even with that risk. There are just too many things that can go wrong with a role like that.

No, the point of the innocent is to survive. If they die they cannot win the game.

In concept, yes, but this has the added bonus of taking the entries directly.

Vote functionality doesn't fully work yet. I think I'll just have players enter a PIN to vote for now. Still, as E pointed out, it's unlikely that players will cast votes in two locations. I am thinking about this.

I do, but I'm holding off because it's only my second game. I was going to wait until my sixth.
