What armour are you most looking forward to? What one do you

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 8:49 am

Totally understand the ebony helmet thing, it looks weird If I had to choose a set that I dislike? Glass probably, In terms of the new DLC Id love to see an Indoril artifact set somewhere, ah the memories "must use the editor as to not get attacked on site! must have their armor!" :pinch:

But most likely I wont use it, my Dunmer assassin pretty much exclusively uses the Black Sacrament Armor (Mod off the nexus) while my new character tends to use the Lustmord Armor.

I usually prefer stuff from mods as they tend to be higher resolution and in general I find them more interesting. I also feel id like the Vampire Royal Armor more were it not for the cape, looks fine on males but I hate it on females for some reason.

I'll be tackling the DLC with this character first http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7232/7201680172_404c242b75_b.jpg so the bear armour has definitely caught my eye.

The Ebony Helmet does look really bad. It's too tall, and too thin when worn.

Glass armor is fugly, especially the FemVersion. The male version suffers considerably less, but the front torso (Particularly from the pectoral region up to the neck) looks far too bulky to pass for Light Armor. If the Frontplate matched the backplate, I'd probably really like the Glass armor.

Aethetics are irrelevant technically. No item is going to look exactly like it does in previous games. The Ebony Blade looks different, the Ebony Mail looks different, The Mace of Molag Bal looks different, Savior's Hide looks different, eve Spellbreaker looks different.

Yes but Dragonbone cuirass does not equal dragonplate armour.. I see your point though.

On that point, they really need to make the Saviour's Hide better like in Morrowind.

Completely agree, to be honest even as far back as Morrowind I was never too fond of the Glass Armor, though it was considerably less fugly in Morrowind.

Have to say though with the revamped textures for daedric stuff on the nexus (weapons and armor) the Daedric Armor is by far my favorite Heavy set in the game, the mod gives the stuff a scaly look so it kind of looks like a demonic dragon armor

I really want that Priest armor, but somehow I suspect it'll come with a really crappy enchantment.

Lol then I'll be like "Another pair of cool-looking attire I will never use". I guess for me Practical > Stylish.

Wear the full ebony set. Pay particular attention to the neck region. If you can't understand why people hate Ebony armour after doing this, you're probably not going to ever.

You mean how the helm doesn't come all the way down to meet the chest piece? That's an odd reason to hate ebony armor as a whole.

Its not odd if you're talking in the scope of a fullset - the helm ruins it in that regard. Take the helm away and the ebony armour itself is fine.

 I'm clearly just not seeing it I guess, or I am and it just doesn't faze me. The only time I can say it looks weird is when you're looking down upon it, cause then it looks like you're a cone-head, but that's an odd angle to play at.

To be fair, most of the Helmets in Skyrim completely ruin the sets too, it's not limited to just Ebony.

Iron and Daedric are like the only helmets I don't absolutely hate.

Well I am looking forward to Miraaks armour and the bonemold one. The dragonbone heavy armour and ebony is ugly. It would be cool if they redesigned the sets.

Personally, I'm on the fence with Dragonborn Armor. We haven't really seen any complete pics of it yet, nor do we even definitively know what new armors will be in the DLC, so I can't claiim which one set I'm looking forward to most.

So I pick Ebony, Daedric, and the Shrouded Armors. Easily my favorite armor (and weapons) in the game.

My least favorite? Dwarven Armor. I just can't stand the look of it.

This is true.

My favourite helm is the Imperial Captain with the black crest. Fortunately that works well with some of the heavy armour sets I like.

Not looking forward to any particular piece of new armor from the expansion.

I like ebony armor, minus the helmet. Use a mod that removes a helmet requirement from all the armor perks so I can dispense with it and wear something else, like a dragon priest mask.

Favorite vanilla armor is probably steel plate, once again minus the helmet. In fact, the iron armor's helmet is the only one I can think of that I actually like. Skyrim's helmets svck in general.

Least favorite armor in vanilla, Saviors Hide. If ever there was a need for pants ...

That's the full Face one right? I like that too, but there's only like, two or three in the entire game.

The black/brown Thieves guild hoods aren't bad either, though they come up too short (Only up to the mid-neck area, instead of the shoulders like cloth hoods) to be used on anything but a few armors.

Personally, I love the ebony armor... except the helmet. However, I fix that problem by combining the rest of the armor with either an Adept (?) hood or a Daedric helmet. It is not my favorite heavy armor in the game but it is a close second behind the Blades Armor.

However, I am looking forward to seeing what the new armors offer. I don't expect them to look like their Morrowind counterparts and hope they don't look like them actually. I would very happy if one of the armor sets was a dark colored (Black preferably but Dark Grey would be fine) UNENCHANTED Light Weight Armor. I'm guessing a dark colored Cowl or a Hood with a mouth cover for the males would be too much to ask for as well.

As for my least favorite, the Dragonbone armor is kinda ugly but I REALLY cannot stand the Elven armor. I'm not fond of any of the light armor in the vanilla Skyrim game outside of the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild related items and the Dragonscale armor. I do like the lightweight Dawnguard armor, though.

I want Stalrim weapons and armour.

I think most of the time i've been attacked by Dragons is because they have seen me wearing Dragon Scale Armour,
i think it upsets them that i'm wearing on of there friends.

The dragonborns. Although judging by the full bodied poster, he looks like a mage and it might end up being a robe.

Looking forward to getting back into a set of Chitin armor and reminiscing about starting a new character in Morrowind and how ridiculous it was that like the second best light armor in the game was available to be bought in the first town (minus the greaves) for practically nothing.

Least favorite in Vanilla Skyrim... maybe Daedric? it just looks gaudy, tbh. Like it's trying way to hard to look BA. You know that guy who's like 25 and trying to find a costume that will legitimately be frightening to his peers for Halloween? Daedric armor is the type of costume that guy would buy. The Ebony armor is almost as bad. I liked it a lot more when it had the gold trim and looked more knight-like. At least with Daedric, you have the excuse that it's made out of/designed by demons or something. Ebony just looks ridiculous for the sake of looking ridiculous. I don't mind the orcish. Not a big fan of the helmet, but I like the set as a whole. Same goes for the Dragon Plate. The helmet just looks like it doesn't belong in the set, otherwise I like it.

I really like the look of the Dwarven in this one. It's the first time I've been able to say that. Big fan of the steel plate and banded iron, too.

For light armors, I really don't dislike any of them. If I had to pick one gripe, it'd probably be that the hide, studded and scaled all look so much like each other. It makes sense that they would, but it just feels like the designers got lazy on that one, and it makes it harder to just eyeball what armor people are wearing when you're fighting a group of bandits. Wasn't a huge fan of the shrouded sets either. I actually kind of like the general look, but they went overboard with the red accents, imo.

I liked the Forsworn, Elven and Imperial Light sets in particular from the light sets. It's also easily the best the glass set has ever looked.

One thing I've wondered. Many of the armors have obvious ties with some race/culture, such as the elven and orcish armors. But who was it who made the glass and ebony armors? Glass looks sort of elven, so maybe the elves made it. But ebony looks so different compared to everything else.
Pretty sure Glass and Ebony are of Dunmer make. Morrowind had a ton of glass and ebony mines in it.

Yup, they are made from volcanic glass that come primarily from Red Mountain in Morrowind.

If you watch the tralier closely, you'll know the old Dragonborn's armor is the same as a new enemy or a variant of the same armor.
