What did you do in Daggerfall today? (part VI)

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 11:49 am

Well that doesn't help me. I'll stick with Dibella.
Fair enough :)

Wait, Hircine's ring can break?

All the artifacts can "break". Canonically, their breaking represents the artifact disappearing to find a new owner or return to its master, as such a powerful item is never content to remain with one person for too long. According to the in-game books an artifact is supposed to disappear after a year and a day, but that doesn't actually happen. Mechanically, they break because their durability wears out, just like any other magical item.

I guess I shouldn't abuse it once I get it.

Currently I am training running/jumping/swimming/medical with a little bit of combat. I just felt like training the boring stuff first.

This doesn't explain how you can have more than one copy of any Daedric artifact on your body at one time, though. ;)

Can you post your full class build at startup, please? It'd be really useful for my planned Daggerfall playthrough soon :)

Sure, although I'm not at home so I'll just do what I can remember...

STR,END,AGI,SPD = 75
INT,WIL,PER = 10
Luc = 60 or whatever is left.

Primary: Short Blade, CriticalStrike, Dodging
Secondary: Running, Climbing, Swimming
Misc: Jumping, HandtoHand and other random stuff to fill the space.

30 HP/level
Advantages: Immunity to Magic/Paralysis
Disadvantages: Crit Weakness to poison/disease, Unable to use magic in darkness, unable t o use magic in light, unable to regen magicka.
Maybe others to get the Dagger as close to the bottom red zone without going over.

Actually, nerfing the mental stats so much has bitten me in the ass, because it means I cannot level many skills past the 15 or 20 of their governing attribute. Thus while the Temple of Julianos thinks my short blade skills are pretty fly, I don't have squat in anything else that matters to them. So that svcks, and it means I can't get brute boy to the item maker as was my plan. Oh well.

I keep doing quests for Julianos in Dwynnen, but everyone keeps thanking Dibella when I save them. Ingrates.

If this is part of what dagskills 0.96 so called "fix" does I'm glad I stayed away from it.

All DagSkills does is allow attributes and skills to exceed 100. That's not a utility I use and it actually doesn't affect my situation. You see, a skill cannot exceed it's governing attribute; so since my Int INT and PER are sitting at 15, all related skills cannot exceed 15 until i raise those attribute. Since I can't raise those skills, I can't get a #2 skill high enough to improve my guild rank.

In that case we're running different games in some other manner.
I'm running Dag 2.13 plus Comp USA only.

In my last game I started with an INT of 18 and with Lockpicling at 16. At games end my INT was still 18 but my Lockpicking was 41. IIRC I raised Lockping both naturally and through the Julianos Trainer. Don't know why that's not possible in your game.
(Lockpicking is next to useless on outside doors but inside dungeons it works nicely.....I do NOT enjoy having to bash doors).

No, after a bit of experimentation, it seems you are correct. And so we come across yet another thing that the manual says is one way, we always assumed was one way, and turned out was a feature never implemented. Sigh.

I'm at a lull in the main quest right now so I'm doing jobs for the guilds/temples in Wayrest for fame and fortune. Yesterday the Mages Guild gave me access to their library, which is pretty neat. Also, I found a Daedric staff in a dungeon and my primary weapon skill is blunt weapons (88%). Sweet!

Doing some Mage's Guild quests, had to find a dangerous scroll, got the stupid thing, came back to the guild, they acted like they never gave me a quest. Oh well, killing Vampires was fun.

Today I dropped all of my letters of credit without realizing what they were (what are these parchments floating in my inventory for?), then left them before I could realize my mistake. Fortune of $350,000 = gone forever.

But since I play for the sake of having fun, I didn't hesitate to hack my save file and give myself back the money I had lost just minutes later. So there.

Yesterday I finally saved up enough money (600,000+ gold, to be exact) to buy myself a house in Satakalaam (a kingdom north of the Dragontail mountains). Neato!

Also, I took the dust of restful death from Medora and used it on Lysandus's remains to learn the identity of the traitor to the empire. Intriguing!

Joined Julianos and the Mages Guild.
Joined the Dark Brotherhood.
Joined the Thieves Guild.
Later, I plan to join the Fighters Guild and a Knight order.

Usually, when I join a guild I don't finish it (i.e. make top rank). I just go high enough to get the perks I want. But this time I'm going to see if I can "do it all" and make 9th rank in all of them.

Doing some Mage's Guild quests, had to find a dangerous scroll, got the stupid thing, came back to the guild, they acted like they never gave me a quest.

Also encountered this problem, as well as another possibly broken quest with the Mages Guild, the one where they ask you to test an enchanted gem(usually a diamond) to control a daedra. First part is to go to another town's Mage Guild office to get item, then to a house in another town to use the item... problem is that after talking to person who is supposed to give item, nothing is added to inventory, so I can't test the item. Fixsave does nothing in either case...

Oh and my character is now level 7, but still stuck with a full suit of Dwarven armor, which was only completed after reaching this level, as before was still using Elven Boots...

A few days ago I finished the first half of the main quest (putting Lysandus's soul to rest) but unfortunately, when I failed the Morgiah's Wedding quest at the beginning of my game, I unwittingly borked the rest of the main quest and now I can't finish it. :(

Ah well. Maybe I'll come back and do it in a year or so. For now, I think I'm going to spend some time with Morrowind.

Oh yeah! I also found FIVE daedric artifacts while crawling through Lord Woodborne's castle, which I sold for massive profits exceeding 1,000,000 gold. Hooray!

Finally Level 10, then one night of looting Dwynnen's incense level Armorer and Weaponsmith netted me a full suit of Daedric! I like to believe that Shirt of Jack of Trades I found as random loot had a hand in completing the set... so now I'm focused on getting a copy of each set of armors... so far Orcish and Silver are the most difficult, as I've only found a Cuirass of the former and a Shield and Helmet of the latter. I took Forbidden Material: Silver so I can tell it apart from Elven and Chain... Does that have a factor as well for odds of getting silver?

You can also "info" the item to determine its material.

That will work for most armor and helmets (silver: +4, 2.5kg) but not shields. The only ways I know of to identify silver shields (without forbidding it) is by price, if you're in a store, or by enchantment capacity. (Which are also the only 2 ways to distinguish the 2 yellow mithral helmets from their adamantium counterparts).
