the innkeeper could at least say something like "you know where the room is" if you had a room already.
Would they only say that if you stayed the night before? Or how much time would have to pass before they would lead you to the room again? Would it be worth the time to code in that sequence anyway? I'd be game for being able to rent a room for say a week, rather than day by day. But as it stands you can just leave the innkeeper in the dust if you know where the room is anyway, and they'll just stop by a few seconds later to tell you to make sure to tell them if you want anything.
That is hardly due to the fact that people can't find the room. It's a way to make innkeepers feel like they actually care that you're a paying customer. In Whiterun they even tell you to sit down, and they have a bargirl come over to take your order. Is that for the dumb people who can't find the innkeeper to buy food? No, it's to facilitate the idea that it is an actual inn that you're in and they want to take care of you while you are there so that you'll stop in again.
He wasn't looking down! He even made a disclaimer. It was just something he noticed.
Maybe this thread didn't start off with that intention, but it bloody well fell into the gutter pretty fast.
