What games would you like Bethesda to make?

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 5:31 am

I'd like to see the Elder Scrolls, but in different time periods then the *midevil era*. Not like "200 years difference" time period change. I mean far enough in the future that it'd be somthing like "Steampunk TES", or "Sci-Fi TES", or "Cyberpunk (Dues ex-y style) TES", maybe even a TES set in the closest Nirn equivalent to the time period we're in right now? (Cars, TV's, computers, phones, etc.)

I would like to see something with gameplay similiar to Fallout 3, but instead of a wasteland it should be a dystopian cyberpunk metropolis.

This could really be great considering Bethesda's experiance with Fallout 3. Maybe it could be set in a postwar fortress society in the Terminator universe where mankind has finally started getting a firm hold on reclaiming a stable society and is taking the fight to the machines with their own cyberpunk style tech who dwell in the wreckage of city ruins and utopian Skynet empire type bases. There could also be those so in awe of technology they would join Skynet to have a chance to enhance their cyberpunk gear and become super human etc.

Sorry, but I don't like that idea

I'm sick and tired of ingame ruins and wreckages. I want a "clean" hi-tech metropolis, where lots of shady things happens, like in the movie Blade Runner or the Deus Ex games (even if there are some ruins in those games, sigh). Where corporate spies are the norm, bounty hunters roam the streets and where politicians are corrupt puppets. Where there are organised groups that are for/against cybernetic enhancements with religious fanaticism. And so and on, lots of different factions and lots of politics. And no ruins

Not to say that all of it needs to be in tip top shape, though. I like the idea that the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VCuNOMCfMD0 used, among other things (upcoming Binary Domain is the same), that the "nice" corrupt new city is just build upon the old city which now serves as a slum. But I really want a lot more "nice" areas than slum areas. And even the "nice" city can have gritty parts.

In response to previous mentions of a Discworld RPG, if Bethesda don't make it, someone should!
But very much YES can we have Fallout 4!

Sounds much like you just want someone to make a game about what′s out your window

As they have sold out to Steam I don′t care anymore tbh. Too bad but that′s how it is. Will still be playing the off-Steam games I have though

I believe it would be sensible and keep them around for many more years if they stick with their core series. FO, and TES. I've seen companies that are known for making a certain TYPE of game, and then deviate from it, trying something different, only to go down hill because of it. I honestly think I would make a good Adviser for game companies heh.

Example: Square tried to be different with Ergheiz and The Bouncer. Both of those were flops. Never again, and they stuck with what they are good at.

I may take flak for it, but whatever.

I'd love to see something in the vein of TES/Fallout 3/New Vegas. An open world exploration with a post-zombie apocalypse. Instead of bizarre mutants ala Resident Evil or something, it'd be a mix of collapsed society, raiders and bandits, rogue walkers, and outright hoardes of zombies. Perhaps roaming vast urban cities like say D.C. would be dangerous, as opposed to the minimal danger in fields or old country towns and such. It's just a diamond in the rough, but frankly I find a survival zombie RPG more thrilling than a zombie FPS based soley around combat.

I would like Bethesda to put all of their time and energy into the Skyrim bug fixes and expansions and then put all of their tine and energy into TES VI.

I would like a clean world full of corruption and intrigue similar to what you mentioned games for the past few years have been all about barren wastelands. If they must stick to a wasteland maybe for Fallout 4 they could take the idea of New York City and have greenery and plant life retake the land and then we could have different mutations that would fit into a wooded and forested area, I would love a Fallout like that.

I would like them to make another Elder Scrolls Game, I've been waiting for 6 10 years now.
Fixed.

(But in all seriousness, I guess Oblivion wasn't that bad.)

D&D games maybe based in planescape or dark sun or even ravenloft. A game based on Lord Soth either in dragonlance or ravenloft. That would be my dream game but Bethesda is doing a great job so whatever they come out with I will play :)

A game focused more on writing and roleplaying than trying to be a fps.

AKA what Skyrim and most likely what fallout 4 could have been

I agree with this, they should devote they're complete attention to Skyrim and the next Elder Scrolls game. They should give the Fallout franchise to Obsidian so they can focus even more fully and intently on delivering a great Elder Scrolls experience.

I would like to see Bethesda to release an improved version of Skyrim. It's already a good game, but it could be so much better. The things I'd like to see improved are the dialogue options and a better selection of weapons and armor. It would be that much better.

Yeah I actually wish they'd release something official for Fallout 4, Skyrim just doesn't hold the same feel as Fallout.

Again, open Pokemon world! :P

Fallout 4 set in Commonwealth with more emphasis on roleplaying and the Enclave as at least a neutral the-third-guy faction (like Mr. House).

Yeah... Shame Bethesda looks at things so black and white.

Not really, they did pretty well with the Enclave in Fo3, it's just that they half-assed Broken Steel and the ending so badly that it ruined the whole thing.
Enclave was much more colorful in Fallout 3 than in 2, because there was an inner strife whether to use the FEV (Eden) or not (Autumn). You learned of the confict only at the very end and it would have made great basis for a last second backstab for the BoS and ally with Colonel Autumn, who wielded very humane and rational views on the Enclave's goals. But oh noooo, they just had to make an ending that was only barely more sensible than Fallout 2, which was complete rubbish already (the ending that is).

The problem is that there is this guy at Bethesda who decided the core of the story, the outlines and what each person is like. Then you have the writers who are left to perfect them, and it's them who screw up. Bethesda games have awesome stories and settings but the half-assed writing ruins it.

Yeah, the writing isn't much to brag about. However, in terms of gameplay, I really loved Broken Steel.

But still, I feel Bethesda is rather black and white. But one thing I agree with, is that the dissagreement within the Enclave was a good one. It's a shame that Bethesda didn't capitalize on that even further, subverting everything into Autumn's favor and disbanding the Brotherhood, as you suggested. But that's what I mean with black and white. Autumn is otherwise presented as wholly evil, and the Brotherhood as wholly good.

Hehe. Getting shot by them for no freaking reason at the purifier when you first meet this so called " American government" is quite a good thing to do for the enclave indeed.

Oh and technically not even join them! What a marvelous faction indeed. :twirl: :gun:
