What kind of player are you?

Post » Mon Jul 02, 2012 1:40 am

Sneak/spike. In most games I try to stay out of sight until I can set up an attack wherein I can do as much damage as possible quickly...hopefully killing my target before they can react. Depending on the game this usually leads to equipment or character choices that result in good stealth, good offense, and weak defense (if I'm doing it right I shouldn't need defense).

So... a camper, in other words?

Ha! No, I keep moving, but I do end up shooting people in the back (of the head, preferably) a lot.

Play Castle Wolfenstein and die.
Are you refering to running and gunning? I only said when I can do that I can. The other part was basically be decent in everything there is to be decent in, not the best just decent.

Oh yeah, and extremely lucky, John is extremely lucly. :D

No, actually you didn't. But Hitler forgives you, because he knows you wouldn't be able to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beyond_Castle_Wolfenstein :bunny:

"and when I need to I can just run and gun at my enemies" so yes I did say that.
"when I need to" is kinda different from "when I can." ;)

I said when I need to first, so I don't see the problem.

If I didn't know any better I'd say you were extremely jealous. :)

The problem is grammar. Which you fail.

Well, maybe you're just jealous of my superior grammar skills! So there!

I would have to have emotions to be jealous, I got rid of those a long time ago.

I actually vary pretty often nowadays. When I was younger, I would consistently play mage types in all RPGs, and ranged kind of characters in games that weren't fantasy based. Now-a-days though I will play whatever strikes my fancy, mage, melee, ranged, stealth, whatever happens to grab my eye. I guess after 15-20 years of just playing one type of character in games my mind decided it had had enough ^^ I do still play mages, but nowhere near as often, and it has to be something special about it. I will admit tho, that recently I've been drawn towards monks and general hand to hand style characters. Quite fun just beating heads in with my fists or brass knucks.

I like to play the sneaky dark person. The shadowy charater in the back ground who is neither good or bad, and just goes with the side that offers the most reward.

Slow but very powerful long range weapons; bows and rifles. Fighting from afar, taking enemies by surprise. Little damage resistance, mostly damage avoidance. Latest being the Ranger class in Dragon's Dogma, those longbows... Sure i have a healer/buffer and meatshields too, but i'm the one doing the damage ;)

So... a camper, in other words?

Pretty much :hehe:

In Grand Theft Auto IV Free Mode I'm usually the person driving peacefully around the city in a big truck, until someone disturbs my tranquillness or some children start yelling at each other...then I need to get a new truck on account of blood being such a chore to wash off.

:lmao:

I always end up going up close and personal. I like stealth and always give it a go, but it obviously doesn't like me because I always end up finishing enemies off in a melee situation. Probably why I'm not very good at FPS, I usually get shot before I can get too close.

Heavy weapons guy. Basicly a tank.

I like heavy armor, heavy weapons, and close combat. My weapon of choice in a shooter is a shotgun or a machinegun.

Edit:
Oh, and I'm a patient teamplayer. I play for my team to win. I don't care about kill death ratios, I'll gladly die in the game if that means that my team wins.

Almost always stealthy or "assassin-y".

The only exception of this I can really think of is Fallout.

In Oblivion, Skyrim, Deus Ex: HR, Mass Effect 1, 2, and 3, and even in online shooters (for instance, I almost always use a silencer in Battlefield 3) I was always like that. There's just something so satisfying about killing someone that didn't even know you were there.

That's why I love AC so much. :D

In games that allow it, I prefer to sneak past my enemies completely unnoticed and without laying a finger on them. There's nothing more satisfying to me than entering a heavily guarded room and exiting out the opposite end without leaving a single trace of my presence behind. Human Revolution lets me do this all the time (sans the boss fights), and it's orgismic to me.

RPG's I'm very thorough and pay attention to detail type so I don't blow through levels/maps. I explore everything, leave no stone unturned.

RTS's I usually go heavy on defense and try to build a hidden army (try to) and help a team mate if he's getting bum rushed.

FPS's My play style varies from map to map and who I'm playing with and especially what I'm up against. I'm always a team player and play every game looking to unlock or to reach a challenge/achievement.

I sample demos of every other type of genre but nearly all of my time is focused on the 3 I just mentioned.

Fantasy RPG: Magic is what I use most of the time.
Of the three "standard" archetypes, I prefer Magic, then Stealth, then Melee.

FPS: Get the objective, not kills. In any FPS where you get to choose your weapons, I always have to choose weapons that fit. For example, in Battlefield 3, I never use NATO weapons as Russia, and I never use Russian weapons as the US.

Other shooting games: If pistols are effective combat weapons, not last resort weapons, that's what I like to use.

TBS: In Civilization IV, I usually have a high culture and tech output but a small military.

Really varies by game for me. If its a fantasy game, I tend to play a Battlemage, and if it's a shooter I play your generic 'assault' class. This is only because stealth and intelligent play are usually done so poorly in games, if viable at all. When a game like Deus Ex comes along, I take full advantage of stealth and manipulating the enemies.

I play as a battlemage in COD. Levelling the magic skill is a pain in the balls.

In Beth style RPGs, I'm almost always Stealthy. That goes for Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, F3 and F:NV. Especially in the newer Fallouts, I just love being a stealth sniper. I've tried to start a melee or energy weapons character multiple times, only to end up a sniper again.

In terms of FPS, I'm pretty much a team player. Hence I usually play Left 4 Dead, and some Battlefield 3.
