What kind of player are you?

Post » Sun Jul 01, 2012 7:06 pm

Taking a break from SWTOR I loaded up Borderlands for some kicks. Seems that no matter what game I play i'll always gravitate towards a specific play style. What exactly is your type of play style in a game regardless of its nature?

(Example of mine)

Borderlands I pick Brick because he is experienced with Rocket Launchers and basically blowing [censored] up. This is part of my personality where I determine area splash damage, reflection damage off hard surfaces, and enhanced damage towards enemies. To me there's nothing like blowing something up to see it litter the landscape.

Another play style i'll gravitate towards is the hunter sniper style in games like Crysis. I'm almost constantly using the camouflage system combined with silenced weapons to pick away targets quickly and cleanly. Headshots are always my friend when I play FPS games along with plenty of grenades.

Agressive ass kicker, preferably with a big axe up close and hacking everyone to pieces.

im personally a hunter, trapper

i like watching my enemies and waiting to see where they go, what they do.
i usualy wait for the right moment, then strike

however, sometimes when im confident about my character, id rush in guns blazing
or bare hand head bashing, or attack with a sword.(mainly when im playing fallout)

if its FPS, im a strategist, i anticipate every possible outcome and move as fast as possible.

Given the choice of a rocket launcher or a pistol, I will take the pistol. Given the choice of a pistol or a sword, I'll take the sword. And if it's awesome combat skills or healing, science, medicine or whatever, my DPS will take a hit, but so be it. The Fallout 'Good Natured' perk was written for me.

For shooters I gravitate mostly towards snipers.

In Grand Theft Auto IV Free Mode I'm usually the person driving peacefully around the city in a big truck, until someone disturbs my tranquillness or some children start yelling at each other...then I need to get a new truck on account of blood being such a chore to wash off.

In any RTS game I mostly play as a Napoleon character.

I used to be an up close and personal kind of player but these days I play the hunter type (but still with a big weapon). Hack and slash is fun but being the hunter type lets me get creative.

I like long range kind of combat, but if it gets up close and personal I want it to be savage as all heck.

I usually play a melee-style close-range character, but usually with a balance between offense and defense.

Either a hunter/sniper or a guns blazing kind of dude. Like in Skyrim, my two mains are a Bosmer ranger and a dual wielding Redguard

Really depends on the game. If stealth is implemented really well like in Deus Ex/Thief/Hitman and (hopefully) Dishonored, I always go with that. I don't like stealth all that much in Skyrim though, so I don't play very stealthily there.

I like magic characters in most games, but prefer melee over archery.

I also like to be fast in FPS. So in games with multiple body types (Tribes Ascend) I like to play with the medium or light one, never the heavy one.

I'm usually very careful with ammo, preferring precision shots over wild spraying. In most games this means I constantly have to leave ammo behind because I already have too much. :P

I'd say I'm a patient player, the effects varying from game genre:

Strategy(turnbased/RTS): First economy etc., last the military and attacks and what have you.

FPS(though I rarely play pure FPSs anymore): usually a sniper, I take my time finding a good position.

Adventure/RPG games: If there's an ability to pause, I pause and slowly decide the best way to deal with things, and if pausing(so that seeing the whole situation is impossible) is out of the question, I sneak in the corner and look what I'm up against.

The Silent Killer- specially on CoD:MW3 equip a silencer and the Assaian Pro Perk and you're almost invisible on the battlefield.

I tend to gravitate toward silent takedowns/sniping and sneaking when playing single player games. I used to be really conservative and tried to do as much with as little effort as possible. Although, I am starting to get a lot more wreckless now. In fantasy games I tend to take the biggest 2-handed weapon I can find and smash things with it. Magic is generally boring because the risk to reward ratio tends to be quite low.

Oh ya, I forgot that I usually take whatever class/skill has pets. I like summoning, charming, and manipulating pets to do my bidding. In Diablo 2 I was always a necromancer, embermage in Torchlight, nature/spirit in Titan Quest, sorceror/bonedancer/mentalist in DAoC.

In multiplayer FPS... I play whatever the situation calls for. If suppressing fire is needed i will break out the big guns, if mobility and objectives are the goal I will be lightly armored and equipped, If aggressive meat grinder is ahead I will use explosives. When taking out a priority target I will use sniper tools. Every style has its uses and they are all fun when you pick the right one for the job! :)

FPS: sniper or small arms
RPG: rogue or magic user

Those are my usual preference.

Slow paced dying lots stealth attempting fail gamer. I play every game on easiest difficulty since for some reason i've never become 'good' at games. I prefer to do things slowly and take my time.

I like to hit people in the face.

Accurate, powerful, and quick-on-the-draw types of weapons are also my friends. eg, the revolvers in borderlands.

Depends on the game, really. And also my mood. When it comes to fighting games, I prefer speed over strength. In Tekken for example, I always chose Law or Steve. Same with FPS games. I'd have something with a quick fire rate, and chose a class/perks that promote speed. Scout in TF2 for example.

I've only bought a couple games since Oblivion, but they wouldn't let me play my way.

My path to "modern" games was by way of DOS D&D and Might and Magic, where you control a team. I got used to having a wide range of abilities, so I tend to play a Spellsword/Battlemage type character- melee and healing magic early, ranged weapons and offensive magic later.

Stealthy in single player games and RPGs with no magic, magic or stealthy mage/assassin hybrid in games with magic. Silent, long-range killer in games like Crysis (the original) and Metro 2033. In online games, I almost always prefer to get up close and personal, or take on a support role - that usually leads to me gravitating towards Tanks and Healers in MMOs, and sub-machine guns in shooters.

I'll play a Mage/Ranger in any sort of RPGs, or a Sniper in FPSers. In RTS games I tend to like to be a support style player, while another person on my team leads the main invasions and dictates the game I'm there for either defense, or harassment, or maybe surprise strikes in the case of Starcraft. That's really all I could think of.

I'm a Mezzer. I play like a spider - first I incapacitate my foes, then I kill them. Besides that, I like mages.
