What was your childhood bunny?

I have the best memories on a wide age spectrum (but still being a kid) for HoMM3, Dungeon Keeper, Doom, Red Alert, Age of Empires, Baldur's Gate and TES: Arena.

There were many, across various different systems, but the ones that really stick out are the Wing Commander games and the LucasArts point & click games.

By some definitions (like the oxford dictionary*) this could span from the day you're born until you hit the age of 21. Those threads really need to be narrowed down to more than your whole childhood.

To choose one (or two) game(s) that I started playing with fervor around the age of 8-10 I would have to choose Heroes of Might and Magic, more specifically Heroes of Might and Magic 3 and 4.

Age of Empires 2, Kingdom Hearts and Silent Hill are the one's that come to mind.

I spent most of my time outside when I was a kid.

What a loser.

When we were kids and we'd have a family gathering, we would turn off all the lights in the back part of my house and play hide and seek. The house was large so we could close the door to the second hallway and play back there with all the bedrooms. Lotsa fun.

We didn't have many video games, so we made due.

Hide and seek is timeless. You just have to add new factors like girls and alcohol. Just played hide and seek two weeks ago. More fun than any videogame I ever played.

My generation can make due without videogames too. Though it might be restricting some of their creativity. Anyone ask a group of my generation or younger (I am 22)what they want to go do for fun? Their ideas are surprisingly limited most of the time. Video games, clubbing, sports or drinking/drugs. I rarely see more creative means of fun anymore man. :( You know, the stuff that makes for good stories. Guess this is why I tend to be successful at parties. Hype people to do fun stuff, like skinny dip in waikiki. Though that didn't end well. Apparently it is illegal. Who woulda known?

snip

I do fun things too! I agree, it's much more memorable than video games, one of my favorite things to do with friends is... well, just random stupid stuff, most recently we went to a cementary at night time and crapped our pants together :D Exploring abandonded buildings (I live in a rural area) is the most usual thing I do with friends. Way better than drugs.

In other words, the game you played the most when you were a kid?

It's a toss-up between Red Rover and Hide 'n Seek.

The way the thread started, it seems like the OP assumed everyone played video games as children. I'm glad to see some older folks list "real" games they played. I was heavily into chess starting at about 10-11 (mid-60's). My first video game was Pong in my early 20's.

Jak and Daxter 3, so many memories...

Too bad the most vivid memory was traumatizing.

I remember, after spending an entire summer vacation beating that game, I was playing around with the settings on my PS2, and found an option with my save of Jak 3. Basically, the setting would move the save file to a removable card if I had one. I really didn't know what that was, I just thought I'd end up with two copies of the save file, good backup, right?

Instead the save file was just deleted because I didn't have a removable save card thingy.

Yeah pretty much the biggest disappointment of my life. Even my mom understood what I was going through, so she brought home some Volt soda and Skittles for me.

Needless to say it was my favorite game and will always be remembered.

RIP 100% save file. :cryvaultboy:

As a toddler, Putt Putt was the bee's knees. After that I adapted to Fallout, then Stronghold. In later years it turned to Halo.
