What do you think is the scariest enemy in Skyrim?

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 7:12 pm

Up until yesterday I hadn't found anything that's out of this world scary or freaky in terms of enemies. Apart from the cricketing sounds in dungeons and soforth that really bring the place alive, I found myself unamused with any of the enemies "scaryness".

Well that changed yesterday. I went into a dungeon, I forgot which one it was called but I believe it was somewhere near Markoth and the first time I saw the corrupted shade I said to myself, "Holy $%#&!!!".

Before actually noticing what it was, I thought it was only a bit pile of black dust floating in the air, then came the buldging red eyes and came charging at me relentlessly. When you see 3-4 of them come at you at once, it's a pretty freaky situation.

The corrupted shade is the scariest for me so far, what about you?

Scary isn't something I have ever seen Bethesda do "well." From a scared-my-character-might-die-oh-snap POV I would say it is Deathlords with ebony bows. 2-3 of them in a room can be trouble, especially if they shout you off your feet and then plug you with their ebony arrows.

Night mother is pretty scary, for me spiders, not because of arachnophobia, but once I looked up as one landed on me, I actually felt a shiver as if it really happened

Something attacks you, doesn't that make it your enemy?

Ever played Dark Corners of the Earth? That's a bit creepy at least.

OT: I dunno, maybe the Sabertooth Cats. They jump me from nowhere and cuts my Health in two.
When I think about it, I have yet to see a Storm Atronach, even though I've played for 250 hours.

Chaurus themselves aren't that scary, but the clicking noise they make give me the creeps a little. Ever been to the lighthouse between Dawnstar and Winterhold?

Night Mother by far.

Spoiler
Especially that part of brotherhood quest you have to hide in her coffin facing her, I was [censored]ting in my pants hoping she won't just suddenly wakes up and screams at me for them accidental gropes.

Fallout 3 has and always been the scariest Bethesda's game I ever played. I never liked the idea of walking in dark alleys with Pip-boy as my only light source and a Feral Ghoul suddenly screamed and starts running at me.

I. Hate. Feral Ghouls.

And Radroaches.

The Ghoul Reavers from FO3:BS gave me bad dreams. I made preparations for hours before encountering them - at least untill I hooked up with Fawkes and Godmeat.

In Skyrim it's the Chaurus. Nasty, poisonspraying bugs in narrow places... I hate it!

Nothing like the spazzing Reavers from the Presidential Metro though... :cold:

It would be the Falmer for me especially when you don't see them and there behind you. also it would be Hagraven so deadly and horrible to find.

Any enemy that attacks you from the beck when your health is really low AND you think there are no enemies left IS the scariest enemy. I always jump on my chair.

Yeah, the hagravens are pretty scary, especially while hearing their footsteps in the dark.

Vampire Ancients in Daggerfall were pretty damn scary, considering if you didn't have a powerful Spell Reflect up, they could easily kill you before you even knew what hit you, even at high levels. You'd be walking through a dungeon, walk past a corridor, and BAM suddenly your dipping towards the floor with no health, and the last thing you see is the feet of a Vampire Ancient.

Btw, did those Corrupted Shades yell out "VENGEANCE!"? Like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFeN5-M8GR8

I wouldn't say anything is particularly scary but there have been times when I've turned round and there's been a Falmer or sabre cat suddenly in my face which made me jump.

When I first got the game, the Draugr startled me just about every time I found them. I would be running through an empty crypt and all of a sudden something would be attacking me. I turn around and find a horrifying face swinging an axe at me. The Draugr use to give me the chills until I figured out I could kill them before they woke up.

Potema.

When I went into that cave and saw the huge, glowy, floaty lady.... my response was to swear and start baptising the entire cavern with fireballs.

And then of course, the Wispmother in Blackreach.... ;_;
